Look at that, a beautifully done bird’s nest atop my Cinamumu plant. I have to take a shot of my Adenium flowers too and the Gardenia body flowering at the moment.

My Blooming Gardenia

These blooms show their faces especially in the month of May. These are early blooms. So nice to stay in the garden at early morning to smell my Gardenia’s heady scent.

Yay For These Blessings

I was watering the plants early this morning when I noticed my squash flowering and bearing fruits. We have a compost pit in  one corner of the back garden and it is where vegetable peelings/waste are thrown. Usually it is the squash seeds that grow. Josef put some seeds of squash a few months ago where we removed the guava tree before.

Do you know that squash is still considered a fruit but we use them as vegetables?  I counted my papaya fruits out of the three papaya trees planted at the back garden. There are more than forty in all growing in all stages. I have a lone chilli pepper growing alongside the squash.

Looking Good

I said I was done yesterday gardening but when I visited it early this morning, I opted to repaint  our concrete garden seat which we bought several years ago. Early on, we used to eat breakfast here when we still had our avocado tree as shade and bamboo slots atop our perimeter fence. Since we had to install new slots  every four or five years, I had it changed to steel matting.  I had my small pots hang there. Occasionally, I still drink my morning coffee here with all our Aspins running around. Bamboo fencing is nice though because it is cool and gives you that privacy from passing cars and people.

Early Morning Gardening

For two days now, I’ve been busy with my garden uprooting weeds and trimming some plants.

Last December, Josef and I uprooted our too big monstera deliciosa. It’s trunk is bigger than my arms. I cut the smaller part and planted it in a pot and will transfer it to a big one  later. It is sprouting  small leaves. The rest I put in a water tub and this morning,  cut six inches of it to plant to another pot. Monstera deliciosa is commonly known as Swiss cheese plant. When it is big enough, it costs more than a thousand pesos. Years ago, Nissa’s sister-in-law gave it as a Christmas gift to me.

It is nice to see the clean look of the garden, maintaining one is hard though. You must really love the soil to garden successfully . Transferred  more of my pink rain lilies to the ground. They act as ground cover and usually bloom when it rains.

I also harvested some kalamansi (Philippine lime.)

Wandering…

Yeay, they are not called wandering dew for nothing. Last Christmas 2024, they were just hanging in small pots near Nissa’s garage. They eventually transferred them  to the side garden, and now creeping beautifully besides their other plants.

Image

I asked Nissa if I could bring home some cuttings. She told me just to cut them. I planted them today in three hanging pots. I hope they’ll thrive. I used to have the green one but it died on me.

“It is called Tradescantia zebrina, formerly known as Zebrina pendula,  a species of creeping plant in the Tradescantia genus. Common names include silver inch plant and wandering Jew. The latter name is controversial, and some now use the alternative wandering dude.”

They thrive under the sun, I hope my three pots  would grow just like in Nissa’s garden.

There are so many soursop trees planted at the vacant lot fronting Nissa’s residence.  I gathered some leaves to make into tea because they are good for diabetics.

Garden Finds At Nissa’s Place

Went out this morning for a while and sunbathed while the sun was showing its face. It is a little in this neck of the woods. Found some blooms.

A Year After

Then I took more shots of Nissa’s garden, a year after they were planted. They have grown but I love them all.
