WIN and DIE! The Dating Game Killer

Image

Death on your first date? Newspaper and television journalist Pete Noyes wrote about a shocking near miss in his The Real L.A. Confidential. My “Last Date” was inspired by his true tale. I thank editor Nancy Kay Clark for including it in Commuter Lit! Here’s the link: https://commuterlit.com/2026/02/tuesday-last-date/

A Walk up Snow Creek — One View

Image

I’ve spent considerable time in the mountains, especially the Sierra Nevada and Yosemite. Walking, climbing, exploring — I’ve been fortunate to share many adventures with my sons. Youngest son Jon, a gifted photographer, took some fine pictures of Half Dome on one such trip, a walk up Snow Creek in Yosemite. Enjoy —

Event Horizon

Image

Had any nightmares about the end of the world lately? If so, I can’t imagine why. Still, you might enjoy a meditation of mine on the Quotidian Bagatelle site. Here’s the link: https://qb.foofaraw.press/event-horizon/

La Loca Rides Again!

Image

I thank editor Linda Gould for including “La Loca” on this week’s Kaidankai podcast. The story’s setting is the historic Dutton Hotel in Jolon, California. I employed Joaquin Murrieta to take part in my retelling of “The Headless Horsewoman of Lockwood”. Though I toned down the violence of the original folktale, its resolution still hovers between vengeance and justice. Here’s the link: https://www.kaidankaistories.com

Call Me Charles!

Image

My mildly SF tale “Call Me Charles”, is the lead story in Zoetic Press-4lph4numeric’s latest podcast. I have great affection for New York and for the West Village in particular. I also like wine. Listen to how I managed to combine these predilections (the story’s text is also provided) by clicking on the link and then clicking on the episode #11 button. I thank Zoetic’s editors for producing it! Here’s the link:  https://www.zoeticpress.com/an-11-mens-insana-in-corpore-insano
