What if one of the greatest sporting movies ever made was about a sport that doesn’t exist? Director Norman Jewison’s Rollerball has just passed its half-century, coming out as it did in 1975. It was based on a 1973 short story, Roller Ball Murder, written by William Harrison for Esquire magazine. Harrison also wrote the film’s screenplay. (more…)

As a child, I was fascinated by the collection of old English coins my grandfather kept in a box to remind him of better monetary times once the nation had turned to decimal coinage in 1971, as a preparatory measure for joining what was later to become the EU. The old £sd tokens were all much nicer-looking, better designed, and more pleasingly chunky and substantial than their decimal successors, but the way their system actually fitted together was utterly incomprehensible to me. Brood parasitism describes a fascinating behavioral pattern in the animal kingdom in which a parasite species manipulates a host species into raising and feeding its young. As an evolutionary strategy, it’s highly effective since it relieves the parasite from having to expend resources doing it themselves. In one case, various species of cuckoo will lay eggs in the nests of, say, warblers or magpies, so their chicks will be hatched and fed alongside the host chicks despite differences in egg size and color. Late last year, my big prediction for 2026 was that Donald Trump would be forced to step down as US President because he was destroying the coalition that elected him, thus making it increasingly likely that the Left would return to power with a vengeance. That, frankly, is a terrifying prospect, especially to people like Elon Musk, who will probably be destroyed if the Left gets back in the White House. (more…)

Sigurd has now slain the dragon Fafnir and tasted his blood, thereby acquiring knowledge of the language of birds. We discussed the esoteric significance of this in the last three installments. The birds tell Sigurd that he ought to ride “up to Hindarfjall, where Brynhild sleeps.” There, they say, “he would learn much wisdom.”^[1] This is precisely where Sigurd heads, after loading Fafnir’s cursed treasure onto Grani. Two chapters of the saga are devoted to his meeting with Brynhild, and they are rich with occult significance. The Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team were bound for a playoff game in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on April 6, 2018. The team rode their bus alongside coaches and other staff. A Homeland Institute poll I conducted found low support for intervening against Iran, as did many other polls. But Trump’s disastrous 2026 Iran War has not had as strong of an immediate effect on polling as it should have, both in regard to Trump and to the war.

Now that Donald Trump has embroiled the United States in Israel’s war with Iran, one could be forgiven for assuming that the Zionist stranglehold on the Republican party is stronger than ever. After all, Trump-supporting media outlets are firmly behind the president, and MAGA loyalists seem utterly enthralled by the cult of personality that has developed around their supposed champion. Perhaps there was some truth to Trump’s joking remark, made in January of 2016, that he could “shoot someone” on a busy street in New York and without losing the backing of his voter base. (more…)
