It has been a memorable weekend! Weekends of course are meant for fun and relaxation. People live large on their weekends. It is simply that I’ve been living extra large on this weekend I’m currently concluding. I’m going to tell you about some of the fun I’ve been having the last three days.
On Saturday I worked, but work ended at 6:15 PM. And I had a nighttime adventure planned with my brother immediately following the work day. Yes, we were on our way to Paducah, Kentucky for a comedy show and then to search for late night cheeseburgers. Paducah is a little over an hour away from Carbondale where I reside. The comedy show didn’t start until 8:00 PM and I knew my brother and I had time to make it there on time to Dry Ground Brewery where the comedians would grab the microphone and tell jokes. I’d seen some of these comedians before and I knew they would have me laughing once again. By the way, I am often the loudest laugher in the room at a comedy show and other places as well! The two of us enjoyed the comedians jokes alongside our beer and Cokes throughout the evening. Then it was on to the Bully Gorilla bar also located in Paducah. I’d read that they are known for having an awesome late night food menu. It’s true! The cheeseburgers and fries and hot dogs we had were remarkable and priced just right. After our bellies were full of burger greatness we made the little over an hour trip back to Carbondale and got home around 1:00 AM.
Sunday consisted of church and a delicious stout in the afternoon and then an old Alfred Hitchcock movie from 1946. Church was a joy! And for the film my beautiful girlfriend came over to my home and we enjoyed it together. For the Hitchcock movies we are always trying to spot that old bald headed director within the film during his cameo appearance. I spotted him yesterday! He was there but for a second and then he was gone from the remainder of the movie. Jennifer and I have watched close to 20 Alfred Hitchcock movies over the last nearly two years and it’s a pleasure watching them with her every time. Movie watching and Sunday afternoons go together!
Today I got up and around early. I had some car business to attend to today. My drivers license is about to expire in honor of my 42nd birthday on April 12th. Then it was also time to buy a new yearly registration for my car. So I was off to the local DMV early to take a test and pay some money. I am happy to report I got 28 questions out of 30 correct on my written drivers test! I felt relief! My license is good for another 4 years! Truly I was so ecstatic I offered to take my parents and brother out for drinks and lunch. Obviously they accepted and we had a good time out at the local Giant City Lodge. Who says Mondays are dull or no fun?
For the rest of today I think I’ll catch up on some reading and maybe play the Nintendo Switch. Thank you for reading this short blog post. I hope you enjoyed it and I wish you a happy week ahead!
