Cactus Cutie on NFFF

 Image
Welcome to the wonderful Friday each month where Nature Friday comes together with YAM Aunty's FFF!!  Make sure to visit YAM Aunty HERE to get the Rulez and join the FFF fun!!

 Image
Today, we are looking at some of the Cacti found in the ABQ Botanical Gardens! It is amazing how well most cactus grow here in the dry high desert climate!

Image
Although I do know better than to touch them, I think the barrel cactus is pretty cool looking....

Image
Here is one of the bigger barrel cacti

Image
Mama likes this cool cactus that is growing out of control.

These specialized cacti are kept in a big terrarium so they can keep them warm in the wintertime.

Image
We see these everywhere when we drive through Arizona, they are the Seguaro Cacti, usually they have "arms" sticking out.

Image
They also have this cool looking flower cactus...well, Mama says it's a succulent.

Image
This is a Rosa de Pedra, or Rose of Stone, succulent plant.

Image
It's such a pretty color, don't you think?? I think this might be my most favorite cactus, flower, succulent plant!

Image
Thanks for joining us for a look at some of the Cacti found at the ABQ Botanical Garden!!

We hope all our friends get out and see some nature this weekend!!

Thankful for a Fun Weekend with Nanny K!

Image
Today we want to say how thankful we are
that the pawrents found us a new, pawesome nanny to play with while they go away. As we mentioned last week, Nanny K came for a sleepover while the pawrents went camping last weekend. What fun we had! First and foremost, Nanny K took as many photos of us as Mama does (Nanny K took all the photos in this post) and she sent them over to Mama and Daddy so they knew we were doing ok!
Image
There was a lot of playing. Here I, Sunny, am having a blast playing tuggy with Nanny K.

Image
Since it was so nice outside, we spent time playing while Nanny K. watched.

Image
We made sure to check on her and make sure she was enjoying her outside time too!

Image
Of course there was snuggle time too, here I am getting snuggles.

[Just a note that I was MOSTLY well behaved while the pawrents were gone, but I did get a bit bossy with Rosy and had to go to my room for a bit. Mama was very pleased that Nanny K handled the situation so well. ]

Image
We think we are going to be just fine with Nanny K while the pawrents head over the big pond to Italy.

She may be the best sitter we have had so far!!

Flicker-tude

 Image
Before Fatty took over Birdy Circus, the Northern Flickers had become a bit territorial and thought they ran the circus.

Take a look at some of the silly antics TC caught:

Image
We always thought they Flickers were skittish...but it seems like, all this time, they have really been bossing every other bird around.

Just another reason why I think birds are silly!

Happiness is the Start of....

Squirrel Hunting Season!!

Image
That's right, after taking the Winter off, Fatty and his friends need to know my backyard is of limits!  I am lucky to have TC to help me with Squirrel Surveillance!

Here is just a snippet of what Fatty has been up to:

To protect the birds, deter the bunnies and starve
hopefully not give Fatty any reason to stay, Mama says the Birdy Circus will be closing for the season. Of course, TC took a LOT of footage so there will be videos galore!

Image
I will happily do whatever it takes to keep Fatty out of our backyard!

Nature Feline Friday

Image
Welcome to Nature Friday where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, I have an interesting backyard report.

Image
While sniffing around the Birdy Circus earlier this week, I caught fumes of a few different critters! Bunnies, of course, they like to munch on the feed block and, as Sunny mentioned last week, Fatty Squirrel has certainly left his smell everywhere.

Image
But I am pretty sure this scent is of the feline persuasion!
To get to the bottom of things, Mama and I turned to TC,
Look what we saw:

Image
The nose knows....especially if it's a kitty!!

We hope all our fur-iends get to see, or smell, some nature this weekend!!

New Nanny Thankfuls

Image
As you might remember from our Monday post, Sunny and I were told we weren't going to be able to accompany the pawrents on Arcee's maiden voyage tomorrow. Yes, initially I was mad enough to want to pee on Mama's shoes. BUT, when she sat me down to tell me why I decided it was probably a good reason.

You see the pawrents are celebrating their 25th Wedding anniversary this year. To celebrate, we gave them permission to go fly over the big pond and visit someplace called Italy FOR TWO WEEKS this May (yes, we are very nice puppies). They had our regular Nanny J all lined up to come stay with us. Well, Nanny J called last week and she is MOVING OUT OF STATE! We wish her the best of luck BUT, needlesss to say, the pawrents were freaking out!

Anyways....
After many calls, this week the pawrents are VERY thankful they found a new Nanny (Nanny K) to stay with us. So this weekend, while the pawrents are off in ArCee, Nanny K. will be staying with us to learn our routine and get to know us. This way if she has any questions, Mama and Daddy will only be 30 miles away and not on the other side of the pond.

Image
I am thankful I will get to be be training Nanny K that little black Lhasa Apsos need LOTS of treats and snuggles!

Not too bad of a trade-off, right??
