First, for those who don’t know it and until we Silver Elves looked it up, we didn’t know it either, a eucatastrophe is a sudden joyous turn of events especially after everything seemed doomed for the protagonists of a story. The ‘cavalry’ shows up at the last moment. This is a word, by the way, that was coined by Tolkien and essentially refers to an unexpected positive turn of events and ‘they lived happily ever after’ ending of most faerie tales.
Of course, when people use the term Fairy Tale, they also include folktales and not just stories about elves, faeries and Faerie. Thus, Andrew Lang’s color Fairy books, such as the Green Fairy book and Blue Fairy book, of which there are 25 books, are not just about faerie folk but contain folktales as well.
Tolkien was of the opinion that Fairy Tales should be about Faerie (the Faerie Realm) and thus, we Silver Elves, who agree with him on this, tend to call tales about Faerie, Faerie Tales rather than Fairy Tales, which we see as including those folk tales that are not about Faerie. This is in the same way that we make a bit of a differentiation between faeries and fairies. Faeries are fae beings who are usually humanoid in form and size and may or may not have wings, while fairies are those wee winged humanoid beings designated by illustrators as fairy folk. At the same time, we Silver Elves view butterflies, moths, dragonflies and many other beings of that sort also as true faerie folk and they are both wee and winged but not humanoid.
Both Fairy Tales and Faerie Tales often end with a eucatastrophic event. The ones who seem doomed are saved at that last moment. Although, that isn’t always the case. There are many Faerie Tales where the elfae spirits have granted a normal human a boon with a few simple but absolute conditions. They are warned against doing certain things and they inevitably do them anyway and bring about their own doom. Those are, of course, cautionary tales. They are like people who win the jackpot in the lottery and then waste it all away along with, and most importantly, their own happiness.
Elfae Tales, which we will use to indicate both Faerie Tales and Fairy Tales, often end in eucatastrophe because it gives us hope. Hope is what usually keeps us going as individuals in a difficult world, at least it keeps most of us elfae folk going. Although, mankind, at least according to their own tales, are kept going by a determination to get revenge. Which is something many of us elfae folk understand, particularly the pixie folk.
However, most Elfae Tales are not tales like so many of those tales of man and also some of the Unseelie stories, about ‘Might makes right’ or power or force overcomes those who are weaker, but are rather about how cleverness masters brute force. It is not that men don’t have those sort of tales, too, but really, those men that do are often secretly or unknowingly elfae folk anyway. And certainly goblins, who are often Unseelie, celebrate cunning. Even those tales where the elfae individual offers the normal person a boon (usually in exchange for sparing the elfin character’s life), which turns out in the long run to bring on the ruin of that person, is a bit of cleverness. Certainly, it is a sort of poetic justice.
However, eucatastrophe usually comes for those who are good people, who happen to be weak or powerless in a situation but are then ‘graced’ by the powers of the Divine Magic or of Faerie because they are dedicated to the ‘good’ or have led decent lives. They are saved by the Magic or the Miraculous, although often in a mundane form. Fate smiles upon them. Not only do these tales tell us to ‘hope’ and have ‘faith’ in the magic but that we shouldn’t give up hope even when everything seems lost.
Although, it is often the case that, in fact, the protagonists have given up hope, for the situation appears hopeless, and it is then, when they have carried their hope as long as they were able and they have surrendered to and accepted the seeming inevitability of their doom, the Divine Magic acts through Fate. They have done all that they can, probably in their desperation, to succeed and essentially to survive, and it is at that very last moment, when all hope seems lost, that the Divine steps in.
Eucatastrophe tells us that while the Divine very seldom intervenes in our lives that it is always possible, particularly for those who are ‘good’ or ‘decent’ folk. You can’t count on it but it can happen. Eucatastrophe is a reminder of the fact that there are greater powers in the Universe than most people perceive or even believe in, even when they say that they do. And that power ultimately responds to those who have done their best to live their lives in harmony with the Earth and each other. Of course, this happens more in stories than in ‘real life’ but that is what makes these tales so powerful. Frodo wavers at the last moment and Gollum steps in, not meaning to destroy the Ring but doing so.
Most tales about the supernatural are horror stories. The tales about we elfae folk being tricky and capricious and mischievous, revengeful and predatory are numerous. However, Faerie Tales remind us that that isn’t always the case, that intelligence can overcome force and that goodness and kindness and compassion, even when the individual is weak, is not a mistake. It is, in fact, an evocation of Faerie and the powers of the Divine Magic.

We Silver Elves have reprinted our original The Book of Elven Runes and now have it available on Amazon internationally. This is not the Norse Runes but our own original elven rune divination system. It consists of 40 runes. The book is 130 pages with photos and illustrations that feature each rune and explain the rune system, how to make your own set of runes (runestones not included), and the interpretation for each of the runes.
“Some elves cast their runes upon the nacreous trails left by snails on the ground. Prognosticating according to the nature of the rune and its nearness or farness from the shiny trails that they often refer to as the Paths of Destiny.” ~ The Silver Elves
Thank you so very much Delfynasa for your comments on Amazon about our book: “One of my favorite divination books. It is beautifully written and illustrated. I have taken my copy everywhere! So it is ‘broken in’ looking. If you like runes but want something a little different this is great book. If you are really into Elves or are an Elf you will LOVE this book!!!

We Silver Elves received two letters from our sister, Sorynvala, after she purchased the original edition of The Elven Book of Runes (2001). Sorynvala has kindly given us permission to share some of her comments about The Elven Book of Runes.
Dear Silver Elves,
I have received and read through the book and all I can say is Wow!
What a wonderful and magickal gift you have crafted for Elvenkind.
Thank you. The Runes are already fast becoming part of my daily
experience in many different ways…
Later, she wrote,Your book is truly a Gift to any who would have it and I heartily recommend
it to anyone. I did of course admire the professional quality of the book and the obvious technical skills you employed in putting it together. On that level it is very nice indeed! But I have to admit, it is the obvious Love and Dedication and Elven Magick that you put into it – which fairly drips off the pages! – that *really* makes it special in my mind.
wishes to you of health and happiness
thanks and much love
Sorynvala
A sample rune for you from The Book of Elven Runes:
Rune 1: Silver
“The spell: silver shines upon my brow. magic brings my wishes now!”
“magical implement: Something silver, colored silver but preferably made of silver”
“The magical act: Intent or will power is the first and most important step toward achieving any magical or mundane effect. This book is subtitledA Passage Into Faerie and the first step is to intend or will to go there. The elfin, however, call this The Wish. If you want something you must first…Make a Wish!”
“This is a Rune of Magic and the power of magic, particularly Moon Magic … the magic of the psyche. Silver is a metal both hard and malleable, giving the idea of being firm about one’s visions and goals and at the same time being adaptable to the circumstances from which we potentialize success.”
“Silver has always held an important part in the Elven Culture. It is considered mystical and sacred, not only to the Moon Goddess and the Tide Goddess but also to the Goddess of the Stars. Drawing this rune reminds one that all magic is fulfilled within the course of time but one must make their wishes very carefully … and they must be karmically free or one would be subject to undesirable repercussions. We are responsible for our own actions. We have the power to create our own vision and the power to increase our own powers and abilities through self discipline and endeavor. Remember … the Divine wants you to succeed! Your success could mean success for others as well. Trust in your magic … have faith in the Stars and be true to the Divine in everyone. Give respect to all beings—good or ill. Remember the Witch’s admonition: ‘And that it harm none, do what you will.” Faery smiles on creativity … it is the gift of the Divine in all of us!”
This is a book for those who wish to use the Tarot for visualization and wish fulfillment. It describes the powers of each particular card in a traditional Tarot deck and how to use its powers to fulfill one’s vision and achieve one’s will, drawing to one the energies needed for success so all one’s dreams will come true. There are also evocations, invocations and rhyming spells for each card to aid one in visualization.
Thank you Dakyndre Helgesson for your comments about our book on Amazon:
“Bought this book as part of a growing collection on the elven path and it is one of the best purchases I have made in months. These authors are amazing I love their work, it is original and fresh and that is rare in this day and age. Highly recommend this book for anyone looking to grow and make changes in their lives.”
Also thank you dear Nikolay for your wonderful review on Goodreads:
“Great book for visualization and wish fulfillment with any deck of Tarot cards!
Tarot is not just a predictive system, allowing a person to better know his or her own inner world. Tarot cards opens the way to the depths of person’s own being, to the source of perfection and spiritual growth. It is a subtle tool that allows you to look inside of yous’elf, to know your own identity and to join the cosmic consciousness. Tarot is related to high magic, the value of which — spiritual development and transformation. However, often it happens that the interpretation of one card may be quite different in different sources. Silver Elves present this magical book with their own, true interpretations for every card. Practicing magic for years, the Silver Elves at the moment are professional specialists and professionals of their business with a capital letter.
The book is written very clearly and will perfectly serve as a good helper for a novice Tarot reader and will be helpful for a profesional reader as well.
Also there you can find a lot of magical spells to summon, what you really need to bring into your life or to change what happened, spells on all occasions!
I highly recommend this magical book for everyone, who wants to learn how to make all of their dreams come true and to get answers to all the vital questions!”
Sample pages from The Elven Book of Powers:
From the Major Powers:
“Creation, The Magic”
“TAROT: MAGICIAN
SYMBOL: THE LINE
THE MAGICAL TOOL: WAND”
“This is the power of Creation and creativity. With this power one can create one’s own world, realm, eald, etc. Unlike the first power, which is essentially effortless and accepting, this second power strives to mold the world, or really a part of the world, by its own vision. There is a danger here that one may attempt to compel their vision upon others and force them to yield to one’s will. This, however, is a violation of the basic principles of elfin magic and a corruption of this power, which functions not through force and coercion, but by attraction and enthusiasm.”
“Fantasy writers who create worlds so vivid that hordes of fans hunger to enter into them give a good example of this power to us. Tolkien’s works stand as a testament to this power. This power is also true of those who founded religions, kingdoms, fashion and art styles, etc. However, if one proceeds as if their way is the only way, the one true and right way to be, then they have lost their way and are wandering toward the darkside.”
“The true power of creation stands as a unique and individual manifestation, among other unique and individual forms and beings. It is a star among a Universe of Stars. It is ever a pioneer, and if others follow the trail it has blazed, it does not care, for it has already moved on.”
“Create your own Eald, dear elfin, and invite your co-creators to join you in the weaving of a magic that makes a better world for all of us.”
“EVOCATION:”
“I summon forth the powers of Creation
I make my world anew by the power of my vision
Talents, skills, and powers come to me seeking expression
I send them forth to make the world more loving, kind, and beautiful
I send them forth to make life more exciting, adventurous, and fulfilling
I send them forth to express thems’elves perfectly
Great artists each in their chosen field.”
“INVOCATION:”
“I open myself to the powers of creativity
That I may express mys’elf truly in my own way
Creating wonders of magic and beauty in my own style
Filled with energy and power I set forth
Renewed, and revived, and ready to give to the world
The treasures that I bear within me.”
“ENCHANTMENT:”
“The powers of creation are mine
The world responds like clay
And in the course of time
We see the coming day
Awakens now renewed
Our efforts have been true
And the magic we have brewed
Will guide us on our way.”
From the Minor Powers:
“WATER: SUIT OF CUPS”
“Love—Minor”
“TAROT: ACE OF CUPS
THE SYMBOL: THE HEART
THE MAGICAL TOOL: CHARM BRACELET”
“This is the root power of all relationships, whether it be family, romantic, friendship, acquaintance, legal, business or any other. They all come under the influence of this power. Being under the element/state of water/liquidity, this power is very fluid in nature and extremely adaptable, yet it retains its essential nature in its largest and most microscopic forms. It is also very feeling oriented and its essence is based upon feeling rather than mental or even spiritual attraction. Thus it is linked to both intuition and instinct, but primarily to the feeling of attraction or repulsion that draws us to or inclines us to avoid certain individuals.”
“For any relationship you wish to develop, improve or from which you wish to depart, this power can be of help. It is also a supplementary power to all the other fluid powers. To invoke this power is to develop your own ability in creating successful relationships, enhancing the power of your personality, giving it weight and power.”
“The evocation of this power brings the personal touch and an inner sense of connectedness to even the most formal associations. If one feels they are faced with a mindless and callous bureaucracy, the conjuration of this energy will arouse a sense of sympathy and relatedness in those with whom one must interact, helping to bring the element of the human or humane/elven into an otherwise cold and uncaring association. It awakens the feeling in people, helps remind them that they are not robots, but feeling human beings/spirits, which it to say spiritual beings.”
“EVOCATION:
I treat all I meet with loving kindness
With gentle concern, with reassuring comfort
Each relationship bearing the potentiality for friendship
For romance, or for a delighted flirtation
Each an opportunity to spread love into the world
To make the world a better place
A more loving place
A place where love can prosper
In all its forms and variations.”
“INVOCATION:”
“I draw in the power of love
So I may see the potential for love in all situations and circumstances
So I may be able to love in all situations and circumstances
So love will fill my soul and exude from my body
As an aura of energy
Creating and atmosphere of love
Wherever I go.”
“ENCHANTMENT:”
“Love comes to me today
Love comes in everyway
Love is the very source
Love is the way, the course
Love is the action that I take
Love is the way for its own sake
Love is the purpose
And the meaning, too
Love is the goal for all I do.”
This book is designed to allow the user to communicate with the Realms and Spirits of Faerie/Elfin/Elfland, the spirits of the Nether Realms, sentient and intelligent beings of this and other planets, this and other dimensions, this world and the parallel worlds connected to it, using any tarot deck. The authors channeled it from those very spirits who are searching for their kindred on the planet. This is a Living Book. It is designed to be used in concert with any tarot deck so that their meanings and concepts can be easily and readily accessible to anyone interested in communicating with the elven and faerie spirits of other realms and dimensions. This book can be read from cover to cover; however, we think it best if you read bit by bit as the cards speak to you. While this book can be used with any tarot deck, you will note that there are additional and alternative cards beyond traditional tarots deck, which have 78 cards. Thus this deck can also be used with other decks that exceed the traditional card set up or you can create your own deck using it.
We dedicate this book to Gargy, Violet, Feather, the Mushroom Brownies and the hundreds of other teraphim who have enriched our lives and brought us amazing luck and blessings.
We appreciate your review of our book on Amazon, dear Merlyn:
“Making a Tarot deck with elven Fae instructions–A wonderful read, very informative and well written and with one of their other books starting to see the fae realm. The Silver Elves have written a wonderful account of their lives and how they communicate with faerie spirits–a fantastic read.”
And we thank the one anonymous reader who wrote on Amazon:
“Silver Elves make it easy to apply the Elvish Tarot to your existing decks, no reason to buy another. Although it would be MARVELOUS if they created their own decks. *hint hint* Well done my friends well done. After working with this deck for a bit you realize that the Fae really ARE speaking to you. Not the *typical cards speaking to you with vastly different avenues of interpretation* but really SPEAKING, like family members at the dinner table. The messages are clear, concise and well foolproof.”
Sample Pages fromThe Voice of Faerie
Sample From the Major Arcana:
“0. Awakening: Something Magic This Way Comes, Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long” “TAROT: THE MAGICIAN” “Something Magic This Way Comes”
“Something Magic This Way Comes is a card of blessing and good luck. An unexpected turn of affairs brings new magic into your life, refreshing and revitalizing you. Other signs will confirm this soon.
Greet this change of circumstances with optimism and enthusiasm, thus making the most of it. Something Magic This Way Comes is a confirmation of the power of the good and the beautiful to renew itself. It is a response from Faerie to the magic you have already done and that is now coming to fruition.
However, Something Magic This Way Comes also implies that we must wait for the magic to arrive. It is coming but it hasn’t come yet. It’s on its way but still we must await it with patience as well as expectation.
This card holds the promise therefore of good to come, of the triumph of good over evil, of the return of health and healing after illness, or the beginnings of understanding after estrangement and clarity in the wake of confusion.
The magic time is coming. Have faith; trust in its arrival. Know that the Dawn will disperse the darkness, that Spring will chase away winter’s chill, bringing new growth and renewal.”
“Visualization:”
“The feeling has been growing for weeks now and each day it gets stronger. Something is about to happen. Something special. Something Magic This Way Comes.
You tingle inside. Power surges through your body. You feel like you can hardly contain it and you are alive with expectancy. Something comes. Something magic. You can feel it in the wind. The trees whisper about it. The birds call to you, telling you it’s coming. “It’s coming. It’s coming,” they say.
Your power is calling you. It’s as though someone suddenly plugged you into a wall socket. The electricity streams through your body. You’re alive, alive, alive with the magic, with the power, with the possibility.”
“The Magic:”
“Stop and relax a moment. Where is the magic? Is the power building or waning? Can you feel it? Don’t try to force anything. Just feel the energy. Note where it is. Check it daily. Make yours’elf ready.”
“(Alternate Interpretation)” “Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long”
“Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long tells us that sooner or later the Law of Karma is fulfilled in its exacting fashion. Those that have stood against the light fall and the good prevails once again. Each receives hir (his/her) just and exact due as hir magic is fulfilled.
This is the time of struggle, however. Evil will not give up on its own volition. We must act against it with all our power bringing the weight of our Elven magic to bear, but a direct confrontation with evil is to be avoided if at all possible because we wind up entangled in conflict and destruction. We, and many innocent bystanders, are often harmed by this conflict. Direct confrontation, therefore, is a last resort. The best defense again evil is to make energetic progress toward the realization of our positive dreams and visions. By creating our eald, our bit of Faerie, in the world, by putting all our energy toward creating a better world, we undermine the power of the Wicked, which depends upon decay and dissatisfaction to gain its ends. It is parasitic by nature and
cannot endure on its own. Creating our own realm of Elfin is like turning on a light in a dark room.
By pursuing fairness and justice for all, we remove the sources of discontent upon which evil thrives and that it ever endeavors to create in order to bring imbalance to the world.
However, sometimes evil must be faced directly and so this is a card of choice. If you receive this card you must decide your best course in dealing with wickedness in this situation. Do you act toward the good, act against evil or wait for things to change on their own?
Something Magic This Way Comes and Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long are paired, although, one follows the other. This indicates that after obtaining magical power and influence, one is then faced with a choice concerning what to do with that power. What will you do with the power you gain?”
“Visualization:”
“It has become clear to you that there are those who are deliberately seeking to enslave the world for their own profit and gratification. It is also evident to you, having the magical power that you do, that you have a responsibility to use your powers to remove these people from the positions of power from whence they carry out their wicked aims.
The question is: what’s the best way to do this? Should you use your powers to create good and ignore those others, trusting in time and karma to deal with them? Or do you think that the situation demands that you take measures to bind their evil and obstruct their path? Can you do both?” “The Magic:”
“Hold a magic circle and do a binding. Resist wickedness in your own life and you will have the power to bind it on the nether planes.”
Sample pages From the Minor Arcana:
“Six of Success” “The Key: We’re All In This Together” “TAROT: SIX OF DISKS/PENTACLES/COINS”
“The Key”
“Ultimately, it comes to this: We’re All In This Together. It’s the only way out of the dilemmas of Life and Death. By sticking together, cooperating and overcoming our personal prejudices and inclinations to fault-find and squabble, we will create the future, a future of peace and creativity. Those who insist on bickering and fighting will not survive or endure. They can’t; they are bent on destruction and all dreams will be fulfilled. They are old robots cutting their own wires. Systems breaking down.
Together, we can create the present, which is the future in potential, the future that is the evolving present. It’s the genetic IQ Test. Are we smart enough to cooperate and survive, or will we panic, hoard, distrust and kill each other. There’s only one way out. It’s test time.
This card is a clear indication that the solution to these difficulties lies in compromise, not conflict. Arbitration is more enduring than victory by force or cunning. By coming to agreement, by working together, we can create a viable solution that will ensure, or at least enable, future progress and success.”
“Visualization:”
“Times are critical. Your vortex/coven has faced one setback after another in what seems an unending series of bad luck and magic gone awry. The tension of the situation and the futility of your efforts to overcome it have lead some to doubt their powers and others to fight and bicker among thems’elves.
It is clear that the higher powers test the very fabric of your vortex; it’s power to remain united and to persevere in the face of difficulties is being stained to the breaking point. One evening there is actually a squabble in the midst of a ritual.
But you retain your cool. You know that the only way to overcome these difficulties is to endure the crisis as calmly as possible and you remind the others that they are magically bound together. “There are forces that seek to break us, to destroy our magic,” you tell them. “If we fight among ours’elves, they win. Now, in the midst of hardship is the time we need each other the most.”
Do you think you should continue to strive to keep things together, or should you just take all these problems as a sign it is time to move on?”
“The Magic:”
“Make an agreement with your loved ones, friends or circle members that you will have a code word for when things get irritating and confusing. When someone says the word it is a signal for everyone to calm down and refocus on the magic.”
The Elven Book of Changes: A Magical Interpretation of the I Chingis a magical interpretation of the I Ching or Book of Changes, and is for magicians, elves, and magic wielders of all kinds. It is written without gender bias and serves both as an Oracle and as a book of instruction to help the magician find hir way through the maze of modern life, the mystical worlds of spirit, and the magical realms of Faerie.
And thank you so much, dear Ileådryn, for your Amazon review:
“So I just started using this, as an oracle book you don’t need to read the whole thing through like a regular book. This is an I Ching book from an Elven perspective. Wow, really useful. I already used it with some key readings, and it was extraordinarily helpful. The Silver Elves recommend that once people reach a certain magical point that they start using the I Ching every day, and I’ve certainly been very impressed with it. While they use many oracle systems, and have written books about many of them, they have found the I Ching to be the most accurate of the oracles due to it being less prone to being interpreted through the whims and preconceptions of the user. I’ve certainly found it to be powerfully accurate, and I think this particular book will be very helpful to elves, otherkin, and Fae in developing oracle magic.”
“Why is oracle magic important and useful to develop? Because it allows one to eventually learn from one’s mistakes, before one starts making them. This is incredibly important, because we can see how consequences would play out, without us actually having to go through the painful process of learning the hard way. This in turn, makes our spiritual training much faster.”
“This is a very good book. It took a minute to figure out how to use it, since I had no prior experience in I Ching. But I found the best way was simply to do one oracle reading, and just walk through the steps of doing it. Once I did one, it pretty much clicked, and by the third I had done, it became easy. Now, I’m super happy I got it, and I think a lot of other Otherkin, fae, elves and magical users will be happy also. This is a great book!”
Sample Pages from The Elven Book of Changes: A Magical Interpretation of the I Ching
From the Introduction of The Elven Book of Changes:
“We first learned how to do the I Ching from the Elf Queen’s Daughters. We had encountered it previously and had done it, but it was with the Elf Queen’s Daughters that we really learned how to do it effectively, and have since that time been doing it at least once a day for the last 35+ years.”
“The I Ching is one of the oldest, most organized, and in the experience and opinion of these elves, the most accurate of oracles. Whenever we have a truly important question, we always consult the I Ching.”
“While most experts say, and historical data seems to support, that the I Ching has been in use for at least three to four thousand years, the tradition among the Elves is that it is at least 8,000 years old.”
“Why a New Version of the I Ching?”
“There are many versions of the I Ching, the Wilhelm-Baynes translation being one of the best in our opinion. However, there are aspects of that great book that these elves found unsatisfactory. First, it bore with it the cultural prejudices concerning women that existed at the time it was created. We have tried to create a version that is non-sexist. Most versions of the I Ching speak of the “superior man”, which we find less than satisfactory to many of our sisters.”
“Second, we wanted a version that spoke to elves, elfin magic, and magicians and magic workers overall. This version is created with that in mind.”
“Third, while we believe the Wilhelm/Baynes version is a truly great translation, there were a few lines we simply couldn’t agree with. Also, some made no sense to us in terms of the line and then the hexagram it changed into, so we began again, line by line. While our interpretation is in some instances very similar to the original, in some cases we have altered the interpretation completely.”
“HEXAGRAM 1: MAGIC”
“The first hexagram represents the primal power from which all things originate. It is conceived of as Magic in a pure undifferentiated state, and thus exists as absolute potentiality. It is energetic by it nature and of the Spirit, and thus represents the Divine. It has all solid lines indicating that it is strong and without weakness, therefore it represents power. It is purposeful, directed toward a goal that may be conceived of as Vision or Destiny.”
“The first primal power is infinite in Being. It is, has always been, and always will be. It extends itself through Space, the second primal power, which exists by virtue of its nonexistence, which because of its receptivity allows the First Power to manifest within Space. This creates the idea of motion, or sequential development from which we derive the idea of Time. This sequential development creates the idea of evolution, by which the Magic realizes its Vision by way of step-by-step development through Space/Time.”
“This sequential realization of the Divine represents a movement from Pure Conscious Being into the Mental Realm and from there into Materiality. This might also be conceived as a descent into the Angelic realm, the Deva realms and “downward” into the individualized material realm, where Divinely inspired Mages illuminate the lives of receptive individuals.”
The Elven Book of Dreams: A Magical Oracle of Faeriecontains 360 magical dream symbols that are interpreted for use as an oracle for elfin magicians, witches, and other magic folk. There are also over 300 poetic rhyming spells contained in the book to be used for magical enchantments, incantations, and rituals.
Here below are two sample pages fromThe Elven Book of Dreams:
“VIRGO 28” “ELVES SLEEPING IN THEIR TREE HOUSE ARE AWAKENED TO A NEW DAY BY THE GENTLE WHISPERING OF THE WIND.”
“ESSENCE: THE POWER OF NEW IDEAS AND IDEALS TO INSPIRE A NEW SURGE OF EVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT.”
“To be awakened to a new day by the gentle whispering of the wind sounds like a wonderfully pleasant way to start anew. Quite the opposite of the ringing, blaring, jogging alarms that arouse most people in technological societies and which we elves believe to be a major source of stress and heart attacks. That the wind is whispering also suggests some message, subtle but real that will guide the elves into the new day, the dawning of a new time. The wind indicates both communication and ideas, giving us some hint that this new day also represents an emergence of a new philosophical outlook.”
“THE INVOCATION:”
“I start anew with open mind
My life I do now shape
My destiny is as I will
As I transform my fate
And all that was will be renewed
Better yet and still
Greater magics will I do
Obstructions shrink to nil.”
Another sample page fromThe Elven Book of Dreams:
“CANCER 3” “THREE ELVES CHARGE A STATUE THEY HAVE CREATED TO STAND AS GUARDIAN OVER A MAGIC BOWER.”
“ESSENCE: EVOKING SPIRIT.”
“In the animistic world view, everything that lives has soul and spirit. Those things that are biological have individual spirit, but those things that are artificial are capable of housing spirit. This is, of course, the idea behind shrines, churches, temples etc. as the houses of the Divine. A statue is a created thing, an artificial object, and is thus a receptive vessel for what energy is put into it, either intentionally, as in the case of this dream image, or accidently as in the case of a house that becomes haunted due to violence or trauma that has occurred there. Every place eventually takes on the atmosphere of the emotional and psychological events it has experienced. In this image three elves, three being a sacred number that first breaks up and steps beyond the basic polarity, intentionally charge a statue, giving it a living force so that it will act as a guardian. In just such a way are churches, etc, consecrated to the particular Deity of its devotees. In this instance a spirit is being created or, more precisely bidden to dwell within the statue. The statue becoming the home of the spirit or “charge” as the church is for the Deity.”
“THE CHARGE:”
“Draw the sigil of the spirit you are instilling into a place, statue etc. and recite the following;
I charge you to abide here
Within this sacred place
That your magic you may spread
By this sigil that I trace.
The energies I have instilled
Will manifest, be real
And all who pass will empowered be
By the magic that they feel.”
This is an original divinatory system created by the Silver Elves invoking the 88 major constellations and the blessings of the Shining Ones for guiding one through the world and ever closer to the realization of Faerie.
Here below is an excerpt from Chapter 2 on the magic of drawing the 1st constellation “Andromeda” as your oracle along with one of the nine realms of influence:
“THE CONSTELLATIONS”
“The Constellations are listed first by their Arvyndase name (see our book Arvyndase (Silver Speech): A Short Course in the Magical Language of the Silver Elves) and then their English name, followed by the symbol these elves associate with it and after that, if it differs, the symbol traditionally associated with that constellation.”
“Våstaruva, Andromeda”
“THE SYMBOL: THE SACRIFICIAL TIGER, ANDROMEDA”
“This is the Elven Constellation of Våstaruva that the current dominant culture calls Andromeda. These elves see it as the symbol of the Sacrificial Tiger. Usually, people speak of the sacrificial lamb, an innocent that is offered in sacrifice, but here we elves refer to those who willing face danger for the sake of our people, for right and justice and unfortunately die in their attempt to defend the innocent and the just. This is the constellation of the Fallen Hero, the one who fought for what is right but lost hir life in the process. In Elven lore, this willing sacrifice is rewarded by an elevation of spirit and increased power in one’s next life.”
1. “ELFYNEA – ELFIN FAERIE”
“Receiving Våstaruva in this dimension indicates sacrifice for the general wellbeing. This is a very community oriented energy and denotes that success will come through one’s link to Faerie and as result of what one has sacrificed in the world, or what one has given up in terms of worldly success or social position, to pursue the Elven Way. It indicates rewards given for sacrifices that have been made.”
2. “UVYNDE – FIRE”
“Is this so important that you are willing to risk your life or something nearly as valuable to achieve what you believe in? If so, if this ideal is more important than life itself, then proceed with great energy. You may have to sacrifice something great, but it will be a significant sacrifice and will not go unnoticed by the Shining Ones, and will ring throughout the dimensions drawing power to your soul and elevation to your spirit. Your courage will not go unrewarded.”
3. “INTYRNALYS – AIR”
“Coming to grips with death is not always easy. One often masters it as an idea only to realize that when it raises its head in reality that one’s feelings have a different opinion on the matter. This is only natural. We are meant to preserve ours’elves and to live as long as we can. However, there are some things that are just more important than any one lifetime and when one comes to realize this, one faces death without compunction to preserve the good and the beautiful.”
4. “AVALAN – WATER”
“It hurts to be rejected. Still, the important thing is to do one’s best in each relationship and if you made mistakes this time, next time do things better. And if you did your best and were still abandoned, then know you are probably luckier than you realize, although that will be hard to grasp at this point.”
5. “OVYRYN – EARTH”
“This situation requires you to make a personal sacrifice to go forward. This is ever a voluntary sacrifice (it would be meaningless otherwise) of your time, energy, even your blood or your life. The question is how important is this to you? How much do you believe? Is it really worth risking your life over? Is it really worth the time and effort?”
6. “THE SHINING ONES”
“To suffer for the greater good is to be uplifted by that goodness. Even those who do the wrong thing for the right reasons are not forgotten but offered greater enlightenment. Intention is vital to the higher magics. If your intention is pure proceed with confidence. You may have to learn that conviction does not necessarily denote higher understanding, but we all have our lessons to learn.”
7. “MANKIND”
“The simple fact is that some people are a bit dense, irritating or hard to be around; however, it is best in this situation if you can show them some compassion, have a little patience and sacrifice your time and energy to help them. After all, what are we here for as spiritual beings if it isn’t to help uplift those who are not quite as evolved as we? It may seem a waste of your energy, but what you do to benefit others always rewards you in time. This is a lesson in tolerance.”
8. “THE UNSEELIE”
“When it comes down to it, they just won’t be willing to make the sacrifice, put in the required energy, or do what is necessary. More than likely you will have to pick up the slack. You should know that before getting involved with these folks.”
9. “THE DEMONIC”
“They think they will achieve something by bringing about your ruin. They don’t know how wrong they are. Your success is everyone’s success. Those who oppose you, truly oppose thems’elves. What greater folly can there be?”
Elven Geomancy: An Ancient Oracle of the Elfin Peoples for Divination and Spell Castingis an original system of divination by The Silver Elves that creates a magical ritual with each forecast. The Silver Elves have created a new divination system for modern elves and faerie folk drawing from the ancient geomancy of ages past. It differs quite a bit from the traditional geomancy that was used by the ancients and the people of the Renaissance and Middle Ages. That form of geomancy was at one time rather widely known and popular among diviners, although it has, for the most part, fallen out of use today. Elven Geomancy has 128 possible outcomes that give a reply of a series of seven (like the seven pointed star of the elves) oracles as your response. These seven oracles show the step-by-step process or movement toward the realization of your question. The Elven Geomancy method is also a means of creating magical elfin spells to help bring about one’s wishes. Eight basic mudras are used as well as mantras for each of the oracles are given for creating your own rituals. If you truly like using elven mantras for magick, elven mantras accompany each of the oracles and are written in our magical language Arvyndase with the English meaning also given. These mantras can be strung together to form a spell to increase the magic associated with the answer you receive in this oracle. And these mantras may be used along with the mudras also given for each outcome to form a sort of impromptu ritual that you can perform in order to increase the potency of what you wish to achieve.
Sample pages 114-116 below explaining the Mantras, Mudras, and Visualization:
Mantra
“The mantras that accompany each of the oracles are written in Arvyndase (see our book Arvyndase [SilverSpeech]: the Magical Language of the Silver Elves) and can be strung together to form a spell to increase the magic associated with the answer you receive and may be used along with the mudra to form a sort of impromptu ritual that you can perform in order to increase the potency of what you wish to achieve. It is always possible, and is likely to be the case sometimes that the answer you received was not the one you were hoping for. You are free, of course, to put together any series and combination of mantras and mudras that you feel may increase your potentiality for success in terms of the question asked and the outcome desired. Merely recombine the grandparents and see what outcome you then get. If you like it better, use that series of mantras and mudras to subtly shift the energy. Do this magic until you achieve the result you desire.”
Mudra
“There are eight basic mudra hand positions that are used in this book. By placing one’s hand in these positions and then following the movements as described a magical spell casting is created. When one links these movements derived from the oracle together, along with the mantras, one has a mini ritual that one can use to empower one’s desires or avoid outcomes or obstacles one doesn’t wish to manifest.”
“In moving from the end of one set of movements to the starting point of the next set, make your transition from one position to the other as efficient and elegant as possible. In making the seven movements, connect them as one movement visualizing the colors for the movements and connecting the movements between them so they become one continuous series. This, of course, will take a bit of practice.”
“The mudra positions and movement will involve both hands. When speaking of the mudra positions we will refer to your dominant and assisting hands. If you are right handed that will be your dominant hand and the left your assisting hand. If you are left handed the reference will be reversed. If you are ambidextrous the dominant hand will be the one with which you sign your name and the assisting hand the one that holds the paper. Or if you wish, merely choose which hand you wish to use as the dominant hand and assisting hand. It’s your magic, after all.
Refer to Appendix A for photos of the eight basic hand positions.”
Visualization
“Each of the mudras or hand positions and movements are best if visualized in a particular color. However, since each of the seven mudra groups of any particular series may change color as one proceeds, we’ve found it best to use the color of the first grandparent throughout the ritual movement rather than changing the color from movement to movement, however, you are free to do what feels best to you. Note that while there are eight basic mudra hand positions, each oracle will produce seven movement groups that are a combination of any of these eight mudras.”
And here are two sample chapters, two possible oracle outcomes with mantras and mudras and visualizations to go with them:
CHAPTER ONE: “THE GOLDEN DRAGON”

“The Golden Dragon symbolizes creative action. If you are an artist of any sort, this is a great sign to get. If you are about to initiate any project, including business projects, or you are asking about starting something new this is a sign that says definitely proceed. It is strong and untiring and promises success to those who follow through with their intentions to completion.”
“If your question is spiritual in nature, it indicates that what you are doing or about to do is supported by the weight of the Universe. You are in the right place at the right time and now all you have to do is be sure that what you are doing is right or fair for everyone concerned and is in keeping with the laws of Nature, the Universe and the fairness that is part and parcel of Elfin being and of being in Elfin.”
“If your question has to do with obstacles you are facing, then the response would indicate that you need to get in touch with the Universe, align yours’elf with what is fair and right, and strive to become in harmony with the situation. Then success will come to you from the Divine Magic and nothing will be able to stop it.”
“The Golden Dragon also symbolizes a blessing upon you. In getting it, it means magic is heading your way. The Universe, the Shining Ones and the Divine Magic have heard your call and are responding at this very moment, sending you energy that you can use to resolve your current situation, create something greater and take a further step on the path to magical initiation, mastery and adeptship.”
Mantra:
“Tas Soch [in Arvyndase]
Pronounced: tace sow-ch (rhymes with roach)
Meaning: Go Forth”
Mudra:
“Use mudra one for both dominant and assisting hands. Hold the assisting hand straight out from your shoulder with the palm downward. Hold the dominant hand with elbow bent, palm inward and outstretched fingers pointed upward as though you are holding a pistol in an old fashioned duel. Quickly arc the dominant hand downward, elbow now bent at an approximate 45° angle and pointing forward visualizing the colored light created by the movement of the arc.”
Visualization:

“In receiving this oracle, you may feel blessed, however, it is very important that you do what is right and fair for everyone involved in the situation. If you try to do things that are not in keeping with fairness then eventually things will turn out very badly for you concerning this question. If you have in some way cut corners that you shouldn’t have or have been less than fair to some involved, now is the time to set things straight and repair whatever damage has occurred or prevent any from occurring if it is not too late to do so.”
“Remember, this is not punishment for you. This is not bad karma coming to roost. It is really a blessing in the form of a warning to stay upon the path and do what is right for everyone. If you do that then rewards will surely come your way and all that you hoped to achieve will come to fruition.”
“It is true that the higher powers, the Shining Ones, are observing you and you may feel that strange feeling you get when someone is watching you but you don’t know where they are or sensation you get when your teachers are standing over you as you are taking a test. But, remember that the reason they are checking you out is because you have attracted their attention and they have seen potential in you. Now you just need to do your best.”
Mantra:
“La lun maryoldas
Pronounced: Lah loon mare – yole – dace
Meaning: By light unfolding”
Mudra:
“With the dominant hand in mudra one and the assisting hand in mudra eight, palms downward, assisting hand over dominant hand at chest level, rotate the dominant hand around so the outstretched fingers are pointing upward toward the sky/ceiling, palm toward opposite side of body and the fingers of the assisting hand, still in same position, are now touching the inner wrist of the dominant hand.”

Sticks and Stones, Feathers, Charms and Bones: An Original Oracle of the Elfin Peoples of the Ancient Futureis another of our original Elven divination systems that we have created to be used by Elfae and all other interested diviners. It uses the ten Sacred Magical Treasures of The Silver Elves as a base. The original oracle board is featured on the cover of this book, which contains both an Inner and Outer Circle, each circle containing the Sacred Magical Treasures of The Silver Elves. There are ten of these Sacred Magical Treasures of The Silver Elves in all: The Orb of Healing, The Wand of Wishing, The Coin of the Realm, The Feather of Truth Telling, The Magic Mirror of Reflection, The Sack of Giving, The Philtre of True Love, The Phial of Eternal Youth, The Elf Horns of Calling and the The Torch of the Eternal Silver Flame.
In this system, to cast the oracle, one may simply throw the sticks, stones, feathers, charms and bones upon the board and read the outcome according to the position in which they land. The oracle interpretations for this method are found within this book. The introduction to the book explains how to make your own board, how to gather and use your tokens (to represent your sticks, stones, feathers, charms and bones), and instructions on how to go about using this book to read and interpret the oracle. You may ask of the oracle to give you a general reading of what is to come in your life, in which case you will use all the tokens. Or you may wish to ask a very specific question, like, “What is my power in this situation?” In which case, you may wish to only use the Personal Charm. Or you may ask, “In what fashion will the spirits help me?” and then the Otherworldly Charm might be best. Or if you want to know what is behind the situation, what karma or fate has brought you to this circumstance, then the Small Stone might be the wisest choice. But for a balanced reading, it is perhaps best to throw all the magical objects, either together or one at a time to see the various aspects of the situation and get a full view of what is going on.
If you enjoy these lessons. then you may go further in your Arvyndase studies by ordering our Arvyndase language book, as it contains nine chapters with 270 lessons in all, including a chapter of spells in Arvyndase, three scripts for use with the language, and a small dictionary of words used in the book for easy reference.

Arvyndase (Silverspeech): The Magical Language of the Silver Elves
Chapter 1
1. Tae (the)
This is intended as a short course in the elfin language Arvyndase (literally SilverSpeech, pronounced Air – vin – dah – see, the language of the Silver Elves). It will use word substitutions to teach one to read the language.
The first word we will explore is the article Tae, which is the Arvyndase word for “the”. From now forward, tae will be substituted for the word “the” for tae rest of this course. Tae is pronounced tay, rhymes with say.
Arvyndase is a very vowel oriented language. Vowels are almost always pronounced independently of each other. An exception to this is tae “ae” at tae end of a word. Arvyndase has three forms of tae vowel “a”. Written as an “a”, it is a long a, that is it sounds like the name of tae vowel when spoken, as in tae word, say, play, bay, etc. An “a” with a dot over it, sounds like tae “a” in ah, dah, bah, etc. An “a” with two dots, side by side over it, is pronounced like tae “a” in at, bat, fat, etc. However, an “a” at tae end of a word without a dot is always pronounced as tae singled dotted a, that is as in ah, pa, ma, and so forth.
On tae other hand, an “a” followed by an “e” at tae end of a word is pronounced as a long, or undotted “a”. If an ae is found anywhere else in tae word, the vowels are pronounced separately.
It should be noted as well that an “a” after tae letter “c”, even without a dot over the letter “a”, is always pronounced as a single dotted “a”, thus it sounds like cah, while an “a” after a “k” is nearly always a long “a”, thus kay, unless otherwise noted.
2. Na (a and an)
Tae English language has two definite articles “a” and “an” that are represented in Arvyndase by “na” (pronounced nah). In English, “a” is used before a word that begins with a consonant and “an” is used before words that begin with a vowel. There are a few minor exceptions to this rule, tae rule really being that “a” is used before words that have the sound of consonants and “an” is used before words that sound like vowels. These exceptions occur so seldom that they usually go unconsidered. From now forth, we will use tae Arvyndase word na in place of “a” and “an”.
Zardoa Silverstar Love of tae Silver Elves created Arvyndase over na ten-year period in tae 1990’s. He created tae language both for tae fun of it, and also because, while he very much liked Tolkien’s elfin languages of Sindarin and Quendi, they didn’t contain enough words to satisfy his need for using them in his magic. Currently, Arvyndase contains over 31,000 word entries, although that often includes word suffixes and prefixes. Therefore tae Arvyndase dictionary will contain tae words for create, creation, and created, etc. He did this by going through na 800 page paperback dictionary of English and creating Arvyn words on three by five cards that he kept in cross referenced metal file boxes: Arvyndase to English and English to Arvyndase. Eventually, when he had completed tae bulk of tae language, he entered it into na Excel spread sheet that can very quickly go from Arvyndase to English or English to Arvyn.
3. Nar (and)
Tae conjunction “and” is used in tae English language to connect nouns, verbs and parts of sentences. Tae Arvyndase word for “and” is “nar” (pronounced nair, rhymes with fair) and will be used henceforth in this course. Like in English, “nar” can be used to connect nouns, such as: na elf, na dwarf, nar na pixie. Or verbs, as in: she both ran nar walked to the store. Or clauses, such as: tae elf went to tae store, nar to tae post office.
As we explained previously, Zardoa created Arvyndase just for tae fun of it, tae challenge of such na extensive project, nar to have na magical language that we could use with our spell work. Although, he created it primarily in tae1990’s, he had first attempted to create na elfin language in tae mid-1970’s, however, tae sheer immensity of creating that many words overwhelmed him nar his elf sister nar assistant on tae language at that time, Morning Moonstar, that they abandoned tae project before they got halfway through the “a’s”. It wasn’t until tae 1990’s that he felt ready to take on tae project again, nar this time committed hims’elf to completing it, this time with assistance nar encouragement from his soul/spirit mate, Silver Flame.
4. Sa (or)
Or is used in English as na function word, or conjunction that offers na alternative between nouns, verbs, or parts of speech: do you want ham or chicken, would you like to walk or take tae car, etc. Sa (pronounced sah) is tae Arvyndase word for “or” nar will be substituted henceforth in this course.
When we say that Zardoa created Arvyndase, we are equally satisfied nar open to tae idea that he remembered, nar/sa channeled it. So much of tae elfin culture has been lost sa erased through tae course of time nar tae influx of dominant sa more dominating cultures that most of our culture comes from fiction nar Fairy Tales, many of which are pure nonsense. So we have only our own feelings, sa our own instincts, nar perhaps what Jung would call our Collective Elfin Unconscious to guide us about what is true sa false, although this might also be what is true for some of us, but false for others. Thus tae more one awakens to their elfin nature, tae more one must rely upon their inner sense of what is true for them, as na individual, nar true for elves overall.
5. Kana (but)
Tae Arvyndase word for “but” is kana (pronounced kay – nah).
Because most of modern Elfae (elf and faerie kind) were not raised among those who knew themselves to be elves, we must use, as explained previously, our instincts nar feelings to decipher what it means to be na elf; kana that should not be taken as na sign that we elves are na illogical people. In fact, in most cases, we are probably tae most reasonable nar logical folk on tae planet. We are na deeply feeling people, nar na extremely logical folk, kana we do tend to be far less emotional than most people. We elves make na distinction between feelings nar emotion, unlike tae majority of people who seem to think they are tae same thing. Feeling being na deep inner sense of being, emotion to us is, on the contrary, feeling aroused nar/sa affected by thoughts nar ideas.
Thus, while we use our feelings to guide us to what is true about being elfin, we also use our logical abilities to “separate tae wheat from tae chaff”. This is particularly important since most of us have been raised in normal society, nar by individuals who were normal, sa endeavoring very hard to appear so.
6. Practice: tae (the), na (a and an), nar (and), sa (or), kana (but). Silver Flame suggested that we give tae reader na chance to practice tae words given so far about every fifth lessons sa so in the beginning, therefore here are na few elf sayings with which to practice.
It is said that one nar one equals two, kana tae elves say one nar one can equal three, sa four, sa even more depending on how fertile tae first ones are. If we could we, elves would run naked through tae streets (nar na few pixies do), kana we love to dress up too much to do so.
When people ask us to make either-sa decisions, we elves often asked, “Kana why can’t we have both?”
Tae Way to Elfin is easy to find for those with na kind heart nar na open mind. These need look no farther than their mirror, kana those with closed minds will not find Elfin, nar those with unkind hearts will wish they hadn’t.
Tae elves are of tae opinion that in kana na few cases, tae path one chooses is tae right choice for them at tae time, nar tae place one winds up is kana na way station on na never ending journey. For life is na peregrination of learning nar awakening, nar tae goal is not to end up some place, kana to never cease exploring on tae Road of Becoming.
7. Da (is/are), Dain (was/were)
Tae Arvyndase word for “ is” is “da” (pronounced dah). It da also tae word for “are”. So we would say both he da going to tae store, nar they da going to tae store. The past tense of “da” da formed by adding “-in”, which da tae Arvyndase equivalent of tae English “-ed”. This da pronounced dah – in, nar tae “ i” in “-in” da pronounced as though it had two dots over it, although that da assumed nar not written as tae “a” at tae end of Arvyndase words act as though they have na dot over them, although none da shown.
So “dain” (was nar were) da like saying “is-ed” (was) sa “are-d” (were) in English, which makes no sense in that language, kana makes perfect sense in Arvyndase. In English, however, you have words like depart nar departed, sa turn nar turned, sort nar sorted. This “ in” da also used as tae “ed” in words like wood nar wooded, beard nar bearded, near nar neared, nar can be added to nearly any Arvyndase word to create past tense.
We know, this da na complicated lesson, nar some may wish to reread it several times, however, it really demonstrates that in many ways, Arvyndase da na simpler language to learn nar use.
8. Ter (it) Ter’na (its)
Tae Arvyndase word for “ it” da ter (pronounced tier or tear, as in cry). Ter da na third person singular pronoun. Ter should be noted that some languages, for instance Japanese, do not have na word for “ it”. Arvyndase, being channeled, sa created, sa remembered by na English speaker resembles English in syntax (tae arrangement of words in tae sentence), parts of speech, etc., kana ter could also be translated into other languages sa used by non-English speakers, in which case ter would take on tae syntax nar sentence formation of that language. So too, in English one says, tae red house, nar in other languages one say tae house red, na Arvyndase speaker would arrange tae language in tae form for different elves according to their native tongue.
One might think that this would create problems for Arvyndase speakers from different language backgrounds, kana such na challenge should be easy for elves to overcome since we da like two people who da madly in love kana don’t speak tae same language. We find ways to make ours’elves understood. Its (ter’na sa ter-na (pronounced tier – nah)) simply na matter of our intense desire to unite.
You will note that tae suffix ‘” ’na” sa “–na” added to any word in Arvyndase creates what in English would be tae possessive “ ’s”, as in John’s house, Linda’s shoe sa love’s sweet tears, etc. Tae English “it’s” (it is) would be “ter da” in Arvyndase nar has no contraction.
9. Ver (in)
Tae English preposition “in” will be replaced by tae Arvyndase word “ver” (pronounced veer) henceforth. Kana, ter should be noted that ter da not tae same word used ver Arvyndase as a prefix when one says, for instance, something da “inexpressible” sa “inadequate”. We will get to that form of “in” ver tae future.
Ver tae course of time, with na basic grasp of tae articles, prepositions, nar other common parts of speech, as well as na grasp of tae prefixes nar suffixes, nar na basic Arvyndase dictionary, you will be na very proficient writer, reader, nar speaker of this language.
People often ask us, on hearing that we’ve created, nar/sa remembered, nar/sa channeled this elfin language, if we speak ter ours’elves, nar alas, we do not. Kana, as we proceed ver creating this course we, too, da becoming more nar more adept ver its usage.
10. Va (to)
Tae preposition “to” in Arvyndase da expressed by tae word “va” (pronounced vah), which will replace “to” henceforth ver this course. Ter da said that one’s language deeply affects tae way one views tae world nar tae Universe. So ter da that as one learns nar uses Arvyndase, one moves ever deeper into Elfin. This occurs due va tae fact that Elfin springs forth not so much from na outer dimension, as from na inner one. Tae more one surrounds thems’elves with Elfin/Faerie, nar lives their life as, na elf, tae more elfin they become nar tae more Elfin, tae dimensional vibration that da Faerie, surrounds them, radiates from them, nar leads them ever deeper va their true nature, which da elfin.
Some might think Elfin exists without elf sa faery kind, kana when have you ever read na story where tae characters went va na wild place nar thought ter da Faerie without elves sa faeries appearing? Elfin/Faerie stems from tae being of elfin/faerie folk. Ter da not Faerie that creates elves, kana elves that create Faerie. Still, there da no question that Faerie exists ver potential, awaiting tae elves and fair folk va bring ter va life.
11. an (from), ter’na (its)
Tae Arvyndase word for “from” da “an” (pronounced ain, as in train, pain, main, etc. rhymes with sane, Dane, mane, crane, nar so forth). We realize that this can be na bit confusing since “an” da spelled tae same as tae English article “an”, kana ter’na use ver tae sentence will help distinguish ter an ter’na English Homograph.
Once again, we know we da giving you na lot va deal with ver this lesson, nar ter might take several readings for some students, such as these elves, va grasp. We suggest that, if you have not already, you create na file, sa na notepad, containing tae words we’ve covered thus far for easy reference as you proceed.
Some might ask if these elves really expect this created language va be used by elves ver tae future, nar tae answer da, yes we do. Not necessarily as na language of communication among people so much as na language of magic. An ancient times ter has been held that language used ver magical ceremonies da more effective if ter da na expression of feeling more than ideas, what tae Elf Queen’s Daughters referred va as “thought emotes”. Ter should also be pointed out that tae earliest language, an tae most ancient of times da often called Sensor va describe ter’na emotive nature. Magical languages spoken ver ritual don’t have va make sense as ideas so much as be na true expression of tae feeling of tae magician connected va nar empowering tae images sHe projects with hir magic.
12. U (of)
Tae word “u” (pronounced you) ver Arvyndase stands for tae English “of”.
We should probably note at this point that Arvyndase da na very melodious language nar has few harsh sounds ver ter. If, when pronouncing tae words, they sound rough va you, then endeavor va draw out tae words as you say them. U course, ter would be best if you could hear us pronouncing tae words, nar we hope at some time va create na video with that purpose ver mind.
Ter should be remembered that tae elves da na people u harmony, nar u poetry. We da tae people u tae gentle breeze nar tae whispered words u love. Kana, ter da also true that we can be the people u tae fierce winds shaking tae trees nar warning one u powerful magics ver tae making.
13. Practice 2
One u tae things we find helpful da va read ver English (sa whatever language you use) nar translate into Arvyndase as we read along. We also find ter helpful sometimes va read these lessons nar translate tae Arvyndase parts into English as we read along. Whatever works for you da best.
As elves use Arvyndase, we expect they will adapt ter va their own needs, adding words that might be absent an tae dictionary, nar adjusting tae language ver tae way that works best for them. This da va be expect. Na language that does not change da not na living language. We da giving birth va this language, kana ter da others who will carry on ter’na life. If large numbers u elves took up tae language, ter would develop dialects, nar ver time separate into several languages. That da va be expected. There da no right way sa wrong way va use this language. No experts va say what da right sa wrong. However, if you wish va communicate with others, you will have va agree on certain accepted usages among you for clarity. So ter da, so ter shall be. Our love nar blessings da ever with you.
14. Te (be) Tedas (being – verb nar noun)
Tae Arvyndase word for tae English verb “be” da “te” (pronounced tea).
Learning va use this language da as easy as ter da va te na elf. One simply has va persist ver tedas (pronounced tea – dace (rhymes with mace)) nar acting as na elf, every day ver every way va te na elf, nar one simply has va persist ver following this course va speak nar write Arvyndase. (Note: tae suffix “das” added va nearly any noun or verb ver Arvyndase functions like tae English “ing”.)
U course, not everyone wishes va te na elf, anymore than everyone wishes va learn this language. Kana, for those who do tae way da open nar easy nar there da nearly always elves nar others va help you on tae way, either on tae physical plane sa tae planes where tae spirits abide, which da also tae physical plane kana ver na much more subtle form.
While we can understand that those who da not elves do not wish va te elves. Tedas elves for us da tae most wondrous thing. We love tedas elves. Ter gives us great joy nar pleasure, nar da tae source u our delight nar our magic. Ver some ways we wonder how anyone could not wish va te na elf, nar yet, ver our minds if na person da who nar what they da truly meant va te, than while they may not te elves, they da elfin enough for us. For tedas one’s own s’elf, ver tae elfin mind, da va te na elf, after na fashion, va us.
15. Vek (can – verb) Tein (been)
Tae English auxiliary verb “can” da translated into Arvyndase as “vek” (pronounced veek, rhymes with seek). (Note: tae noun for “can” as ver tin can, da na different word.) Da we having fun yet? This dain tae first thing our daughter, Elantari, ever read on her own.
We had tein (pronounced tea – in) (note tae addition u tae suffix “in” va tae verb te (be) va create “been”, although tae literal translation would te “be-ed) home-schooling her, nar on na trip va Berkeley, Ca. she looked up at na billboard nar read out “Da we having fun yet?” So our question va you da, Da you having fun yet? If not, relax. Tae key va learning Arvyndase da not so much intense effort, kana relaxed practice. Enjoy your studies, nar keep reading tae lessons, nar ter will get easier nar easier. Vek this te so? U course, ter vek. Time nar consistent practice da tae key va learning all things. That nar enjoyment. Remember tae ancient elven saying, “If you da not having fun, you da not learning anything”. Ter da only though joy that we truly learn. Pain (not va te confused with effort) makes us avoid things. Joy unites us with our learning nar da probably tae greatest lesson teachers vek learn. Vek this te true? We assure you ter da. Ter has tein demonstrated over nar over again. So relax nar enjoy tae ride, this vek te great fun.
16. Yon (will – verb nar noun)
Tae Arvyndase word for tae English word “will”, both as na noun nar na auxiliary verb, da “yon” (pronounced yone, rhymes with lone). (Note: while you could use yon for tae noun “will”, as ver last yon nar testament, there da na separate Arvyndase noun “desutra” (pronounced dee- sue – trah) for that particular concept, kana we yon not expect you va remember that word.)
Yon da na very important part u magic. Whether ter da used consciously sa unconsciously, as ter da sometimes, perhaps oft-times da, yon helps direct nar empower tae magic. This yon te clear va all true magicians, particularly elfin magicians. Tae idea u magic, ver’na purpose, da va bring about our yon. Nar for elves that yon da directed nar empowered by our vision. Tae elfin vision da ever inclusive u na world where all may live nar love together ver harmony, where each finds fulfillment, nar every individual yon te respected nar taken care u, by all their others. Does this sound idealistic? We elves da na idealistic people. Kana while this ideal may seem fanciful va some, ter da not na impossible dream, nar ter should te remembered that we elves nar faery folk da noted for our ability, our quite magical ability, va make dreams nar wishes come true. We wish va live ver na perfect world, which for us da na elfin world, nar we yon bring ter about through our yon, our actions, our intent … our very lives. Elfin da not just na dream kana na world we yon create for all our kind nar all who yon va te among us.
17. Tat (as)
Tae English word “as” da translated into tae Arvyndase language as “tat” (pronounced tate, rhymes with fate). Tat you must realize by now, we yon substitute “tat” for “as” tat we proceed ver these lessons.
This da not tae only form u na Elfin language ver existence. There da Tolkien’s Sindarin nar Quendi, nar you yon find numerous sites on tae internet that have lists u Elven words. There da no problem, tat far tat these elves da concerned with interposing words an these other elfin languages with this one. U course, one would need va do this with others who share one’s knowledge u those words sa language. Nar, there would te no difficulty, again tat far tat these elves da concerned, with mixing several languages together, again with tae practical proviso that all tae communicators share access va all tae dictionaries involved. Just tat English incorporates words an (from) Middle English nar ter’na ancestors, French through tae Norman invaders, Latin an tae Romans, Greek, primarily an tae scientific community, nar these days, also words an Japanese (such tat sushi), nar other languages.
This could cause some confusion if there da words that da spelled tae same from different languages, kana that da also tae case ver English, nar we expect that some form u notation yon te created that yon signify words an different languages. Although, most often such conflicts da overcome by tae position (thus meaning) u tae word ver tae sentence.
18. La (by) Nolorda (by the way)
Tae Arvyndase word for tae English word “by” da “la” (pronounced lah).
Tat we dain saying ver tae previous lesson, this language da meant va te adapted la ter’na users. U course, tat we pointed out, ter da important for those who use ter together va agree on any changes, additions, sa modifications they make. This da not necessarily tae case for ceremonial magicians who may, here nar there, find ter necessary va add na word sa two, tat required for their workings. Still, this da na language with thousands u words, nar we expect few additions va te needed ver most cases. Ver other words, if you don’t find tae word you need ver our dictionary, make one up, channel ter, sa remember ter, tat we did.
La tae way, there da actually na Arvyndase word that means “by the way” , ter da “nolorda” (pronounced no – lore – dah), kana ter da perfectly acceptable va use tae individual Arvyndase words tat we did at tae beginning u this paragraph. Tat you vek see, we da na easy people va please. Easy-going nar, ver many ways, just plain easy.
19. ton (on) gos (on)
There da two Arvyndase words for tae English word “on”. Tae first da “ton” (pronounced tone) that da used ver tae sense u “let’s get ton tae train” nar bears tae idea of tedas “on” top u something. Tae other Arvyndase word for “on” da “gos” (pronounced go-ss, sound like ghost sa toast without tae “t”) nar ter da used va designate “on” ver tae sense of movement sa going forward, such tat “Let’s get gos down tae road” “let’s get gos that project nar get ter done”. We realize this da na bit confusing nar if you should use one word ver tae place u tae other, ter da no big deal.
Nolorda, we realize ter vek te difficult va decide which “on” va use, gos sa ton. Kana, generally speaking, if something da not physically sa metaphorically ton something, gos da tae appropriate word. Tat ver, “’Let’s get gos with ter”. Any sentence that signifies, movement, sa usage, yon te “gos”. Ton tae other hand, “ton” da appropriate ver, “Put ter ton tae table”. Kana da ter, “Call me gos tae phone” sa “Call me ton tae phone”? Either works for us. Here da some more examples: “An [from] now gos”, “Come ton Tuesday”, “They just talk gos nar gos”, “What da they going gos about?”, nar so gos. Use your best judgment nar we da sure you yon get gos fine with this lesson. Next time, gos va other words.
20. rep (up) repton (upon)
Tae Arvyndase word for “up” da “rep” (pronounced reap”. Note that tae word for “upon”, tat ter da ver English da composed la combining “rep” (up) nar “ton” (on) thus, repton (upon, pronounced reap-tone).
Once repton na time, tat nearly every faery tale begins, there dain these two elves who tried va use Tolkien’s elf languages nar thought, wouldn’t ter te nice if he had some articles nar preposition, etc. va make tae use u tae language more accessible, tat well tat, na lot more nouns nar verbs. Tat stated earlier ver these lessons, they did not continue with their efforts, kana Zardoa did eventually do so.
Ver tae 1990’s Zardoa also began giving out elf names through tae internet, nar these names each have na meaning, so ver addition va tae words ver tae Arvyndase dictionary, there da, tat this point, rep va nearly 5,500 names, which vek each te used tat na Arvyndase word. These words would te used ver tae same way tat one would say, “That guy da na Benedict Arnold” sa, “He da na regular Rembrandt”, etc.
21. Practice 3
They say… dear kindred… that tae way va Elfin/Faerie da within. This da true, kana ter da also true that la using Arvyndase sa other elfin languages sa using na elfin name, one begins va manifest Elfin here ton Earth, va bring ter va life la living tat na elf. An [from] tae first time one uses Elfin, ver whatever form, one awakens tae attention u tae spirits u Faerie nar they da drawn va one tat elves da va music nar dance. Tat we move gos with these lessons nar one uses tae language more nar more, tae fair folk yon notice nar ever more magic yon awaken around one.
Rep till now, we have not spoken much u tae philosophy u we elves, kana tat we go gos, we yon speak ever more u these things. Tat one begins va absorb these ideas nar ideals nar these thought-emotes one yon find, tat though la magic, which u course ter da, that coincidences nar synchronicities yon increase ver one’s life. Nar this much da guaranteed, if one calls out va Elfin, Elfin yon respond. Ter vek te na bit disconcerting at first, for many da immediately caught between tae parameters u tae world they knew nar tae ever expanding nar evolving borders u Faerie. There da one thing one vek count repton: we yon, ver tat much tat ter da ver our power, always te here va help you, tat, ver fact, we have ever tein.
22. mol (word) molli (words) oso (the final word or directive)
How about na few nouns? Tae word ver tae Arvyndase language for “word” da “mol” (pronounced mole). There da also na mol that means tae “last mol” sa tae “final mol” ton na subject, nar that mol da “oso” (pronounced oh – so). This would te tae mol used ver popular slang when one says “word” meaning, “that da tae truth” sa “truth”, thus elfin “gangstas”, if there dain any would say, “Oso”. This would also te tae case if someone asked, “Did you hear about Evandra? Tae oso da she’s fallen ver kyela (love)”.
Va make mol pural, thus “words”, one would add tae suffix “li” (pronounced lie). This suffix da tae Arvyndase form u tae English pural suffixes u “-s’, “-es”, “-ies” nar vek te added va any noun ver Arvyndase va create na pural form u that mol. Ter vek also te added va verbs va create tae pural form. Kana, ter should te noted that this da not tae case where “-s” da added ver English va na verb va signify ter’na use ver relationship va na singular pronouns. This form ver Arvyndase da signified la tae suffix “-lu” (pronounced loo, rhymes with who).
Tat na example let’s take tae Arvyndase mol “kyela” (pronounced key – L – lah), one u several molli ver Arvyndase for tae English mol “love”. We might say, “that elf has three kyelali (key – l – lah – lie): music, dance, nar romance”. This would te different than saying, “that elf kyelalu (key – L – lah – loo) va dance, play music, nar romance”.
Nar so you have your molli for tae day.
23. elto (language)
Tae Arvyndase mol for “language” da “elto” (pronounced eel – toe). La adding tae suffix “-li” ter becomes “languages” sa “eltoli” (eel – toe – lie). Ter has tein said that our elto affects tae way we view tae world. We elves would suggest that tae way we view tae world also affects our elto. For instance, tae Eskimos da known va have numerous molli for different types u snow, since their life experience nar world da filled with snow. So tae Arvyndase elto has numerous words for love, nar tae various forms ter appears as. There da rynt (pronounced rent) that da tae mol that da used va speak u “love” ver general, nar all ter’na forms. There da kyela, which da rynt (love) ver na romantic nar affectionate way, nar “feln” (sounds like feel with na “n” added va tae end nar merged with tae sound), which represents tae special feeling that elves feel for other elves. There da feas (fee – ace) that indicates rynt used ver tae sense u “like” nar da usually used tat na feasdas (loving – liking) for objects, tat ver “I feas my car”.
There da also jalar (pronounced jah – lair, there should te na dot over tae first “a” kana we don’t have na way u reproducing that here), which indicates na Divine feeling u rynt. Nar there da ford (pronounced ford) ver tae Arvyndase elto that denotes rynt ver tae sense u tae ford one has for their soulmate sa family. We do not expect you va remember all these forms u rynt kana we present them here for those who da interested.
24. elda (elf)
Tae mol ver tae Arvyndase elto for “elf” da “elda” (pronounced L – dah). Ter has na dot ton tae “e” that we da unable va reproduce here. We could print ter tat e’lda sa e*lda, kana that seems cumbersome va us nar so we will depend ton your understanding u tae pronunciation va comprehend where tae accent marks belong. If you add tae suffix “-li” ter becomes eldali (elves) (pronounced l – dah – li with na dot repton tae “a” tat well tat tae “e”).
La adding various suffixes, tae mol da transformed va ter’na various forms. La adding tae suffix “-tur” (hood) ter forms tae mol eldatur (elfhood) (pronounced L – dah – tour). If you add tae suffix “-ta” (-en) ter transforms to “eldata” (elven) (pronounced L – day –tah, notice that ver this case tae first “a” does not have na dot ton ter). Na variation u this da “elfin” , which da spelled eldat (L – date). La adding tae suffix “-tu” (-ish) ter transforms verva eldatu (elfish) (pronounced L – day – two). However, note that tae mol for tae suffix “-ness” da also “-tu” so va get “elfishness” one could either have eldatutu, sa tat we more commonly do add “-dar”, which da “-tude” nar give us eldatudar (pronounced L – day – two – dare) (elfishness, sa literally elfishtude).
You may wish va make note u these suffixes tat they vek te added va any noun va form variations ton tae words.
25. fro (for)
Tae Arvyndase mol for “for” da “fro”. Fro tae eldali, all things have va do with magic. Tae world da na magical place nar all that we do nar say nar experience da born u magic. Thus Arvyndase da na magical elto, kana then all eltoli da magical fro tae eldata (elven). What da special about eldata eltoli da that they specifically evoke eldat (elfin) nar faerie magic. Reading these molli brings eldata magic verva your life nar if you read them out loud, that da send tae vibrations verva tae air, they yon call tae spirits nar Spirit u Faerie va you. If you use this elto, your life yon change, fro tae magic u Eldat (Elfin) yon te attracted va you tat eldali da va pizza.
Tae nice thing about eldata (elven) magic, however, da that ter da relatively beneficent va tae beneficent. If you da na good person, you have nothing va fear an (from) tae fair folk. However, we eldali do not much care fro assholes nar assholes don’t do well around us, nar when they come ver contact with our magic, they tend va regret ter. Not because u anything we do, kana because eldat (elfin) magic tends va balance things out. Running verva tae eldali da like encountering one’s own karma. If your karma da good, then all yon te well, if not … . Va proceed with these lessons da va call tae magic va you. Ter da like asking “God” va take na close look at your life. Ter da rep va you.
26. ena (with)
Tae mol fro “with” ver tae Arvyndase elto da “ena” (pronounced e – nah). This mol ena tae mol “ter” (it) could te used va indicate that someone dain, tat tae slang expression goes, “with it”, sa ena ter. Kana, there da another mol ver Arvyndase that vek te used va mean tae same thing, nar that mol da “inton” (pronounced in – tone, tae “ I” has two parallel dots repton ter). Thus ter could te said, “Tae eldali da very inton”.
Ena tae use u Arvyndase, your luck yon increase, nar great blessings yon come verva your life. Synchronicities nar lucky co-incidences yon be more nar more frequent, nar your magic yon get ever stronger. You yon discover that when you go fro na walk, you yon te walking ena tae spirits u Eldat (Elfin), fro they yon te ever more attracted va you nar yon wish va go ena you everywhere. Hope you like company.
27. kon (not – no) enakon (without)
Tae Arvyndase mol fro “not” da “kon” (pronounced cone). Ter da also tae mol fro tae English mol “no”. Tae mol fro “without” da formed la (by) combining tae molli “ena” nar “kon”, thus “enakon” (pronounced e – nah – cone), kana while this means “without” ter could te literally translated tat “with not”, tat ver: enakon na doubt.
Ter should te noted that tae mol “kon” also functions tat na prefix ver many instances ver Arvyndase nar vek te added va any noun ver tae elto (language) where tae idea da that ter da kon that. Kon serves tat tae prefix “ in-” ver instances where “ in-“ indicates “not” sa “kon”. Such tat konrego (pronounced cone – ree – go) which means “inconstant” sa konyendur (pronounced cone plus yen, which rhymes with mean, plus dur, which sounds like doer) that means “ incorrect”. Ter also da used tat tae prefix “ il-” tat ver konmanetarey (cone – may – knee – tah – ray) (illiterate) nar kongrijvar (cone – gryj (sounds like cry with a “j” – var (rhymes with care), which means “illegal”. Ter da similarly used tat tae prefix “ ig-“ tat ver koneldae (cone – L – day) (ignoble), nar tat tae prefix “ im-” tat ver konnalur (cone – nah – lure) (immature) sa konkomyr (cone – co – mer) (immobile).
While ter yon kon te used very much ver these writings ter should te pointed out that one u our favorite molli nar one we eldali use very often da ale (a – lee) which da “yes”. Ale?
28. hern (thus)
Tae Arvyndase mol fro “thus” da “hern” (pronounced hear-n, so “hear” ena (with) tae “n” merged ton tae end nar kon as na separate sound. Hern if you dain writing na Haiku ver Arvyndase, which da composed u 3 lines, tae first ena 5 syllables, tae second ena 7, nar tae third ena 5, tae mol “hern” would te kana one syllable.)
Ter da said that societies tend va te either individualistic, such tat tae United States, sa collectivistic, tat fro instance, China nar Japan. Eldata (elven) society, however, tends va te na collectivist individualistic society, hern na society that exists fro tae benefit u tae individuals enaver (within) ter. Kana, unlike totalitarian societies, ter da kon organized just fro one individual, sa na small group u individuals, kana fro all tae individuals enaver tae society. Kon just fro tae rich, konsa (nor, composed u kon [not] nar sa [or]) fro tae smartest, most aggressive, most beautiful, sa tae most successful, kana fro all ter’na members. Eldat (elfin) society da hern like na family. Kon na dysfunctional family that da presented tat tae norm these day, kana na truly loving family where all ter’na members get what they need nar contribute what they can.
29. re (so)
Tae mol ver Arvyndase fro “so” da “re” (pronounced ree). Ter should te noted that there da other molli used ver Arvyndase fro expressions that appear ver English. Fro instance, tae English expression “so-so”, tat ver that meal dain just so-so”, ver tae Arvyndase elto would use tae mol “nata” (pronounced nay – tah), which means “so-so”. Tat always, you could simply use tae Arvyndase equivalents, re you could say, “That meal dain re-re”, kana tae proper form would be “nata”.
Also, note tae molli vakorn (pronounced vay – corn) that means “so called” , nar dilno (pronounced dial – no) that means “so far”. Do you understand dilno? And there da atentyl (pronounced a – teen – till), which means “so long as”, tat ver “atentyl you continue va study this elto, you yon learn ter enakon fail”. There da also valla (pronounced veil – lah), which means “so long”, tat ver “we’re going now, valla”. We do kon expect you va remember all these molli nar yon give you reminders ver parenthesis when we use them. Ale?
30. Practice 4
We eldat (elfin) seek va treat all others, eldata (elven) sa otherwise, tat equals. This vek te observed ver tae fact that ver Arvyndase tae names u places nar individuals da simply tae name they have chosen fro themselves spelled ver Arvyndase linguistics. Hern, English da spelled Englysh (with na dot repton tae “e’) ver Arvyndase, Germany da spelled Jyrmyne (since tae “g” almost always has na hard “g” sound ver Arvyndase, tat ver tae Englysh mol “gargle”). Japan would te spelled ena na single dot repton tae first “a” nar two parallel dots repton tae second “a”. Although, since they call their country Nipon, we would tend va call ter that nar spell ter Nepon.
This da true u names tat well. We have na policy that people vek call us whatever they wish va call us, nar we yon ver turn call them what we wish va call them (usually much va their regret), sa they vek address us tat we wished va te called nar we yon call them whatever they wish va te called. Since, we tend va approach all people tat equals, we use titles ena those who declare themselves titled, first names ena those who offer us their first names, nar re forth.
Some might wonder why we hern call tae “normuls”, normals. Some think we seek va insult them, kana ver fact, we call them normals because they call themselves normal, nar only eldali nar our others, think tae description “normal” da na insult.
Nolorda (by the way), we also apply Arvyndase spelling va individual names. Hern tae great eldata (elven) philosopher Timothy Leary da called Tymythe Lere, nar tae great eldat (elfin) explorer Terence McKenna yon have his name written tat Teryns (dot repton tae “e”) Mykyna, starlight te reton them. Nar that da tae oso.
Chapter 2
2. – 1. tir (have – has) tirin (had)
How about another verb? Tae Arvyndase mol fro “have” da “tir” (pronounced tire). Ter da also tae mol fro “has”. Hern you would say, “He tir na car”, sa “They tir na car”. If you add tae suffix “-in” (-ed), ter becomes “tirin” sa “had”. If you add tae suffix “-das” (-ing), you tir “tirdas” (having).
While we eldat (elfin) do kon tir much ver tae way u rules, we do tir some shared proclivities. We tend toward dance, nar music, nar romance. We tir na unending inclination toward open-mindedness, nar na dedication va doing whatever da ver our power va help, foster, empower, nar nurture our others. We tir na tendency toward individuality, nar uniqueness, kana kon na individuality that da cast against others who da all tae same, kana na individuality that da one unique individual among other unique individuals. Nar ena that, na incredible tolerance fro others who da equally tolerant. (At tae same time, we seem va tir na deep seated intolerance fro tae intolerant.) We tir na profound urge va express ours’elves creatively, ever learning nar tedas inspired la our others. If you da like this, you may te eldata (elven), too.
2. – 2. wyr (this)
Tae Arvyndase mol fro “this” da “wyr” (pronounced were). Tae use u wyr mol continues va increase your mastery u tae Arvyndase elto.
Wyr much you vek count ton ena tae eldali, you yon nearly always te surprised, things da never quite what one expects. There da na old eldata (elven) expression, which goes like wyr, “Tae subtle masks tae profound.” Unlike re many folks, we eldat (elfin) prefer quiet lives fro tae most part. Tae trauma-dramas that re many create ver order va make their lives seem more exciting, more like tae soap operas they seem obsessed ena, nar which they mistake fro real life, do kon appeal va tae eldali. We find excitement ver tae little things, tae subtle glance, tae fleeting kana meaningful look, tae brief caress, tae possibility u kyela (love/romance) va come. While these da less dramatic than tae kyelali (loves) one sees ton television, they da more real va us nar hern more vibrant.
Wyr da also true u our magics, which fro tae most part go unseen la mortal eyes, yet tir greater effects because u wyr. Ale?
2. 3. dij (that)
Tae Arvyndase mol fro “that” da “dij” (pronounced dye-j, that da tae sound “dye” ena na ‘j” pronounced tat one syllable. We wish there dain something ter rhymed ena ver Englysh, kana we vek kon think u anything).
Ter should come tat kon surprised… beloved… dij tae eldali feas (love, fro objects) music, nar dance, nar all things creative, kana most u all we jalar (love, divine) tae magic, fro tae magic da tae source u all manifestation, an (from) tae most mundane va tae most subtle. Ter da tae magic dij most folks call “God”. Tae magic ever seeks ter’na own. Ter ever seeks tae perfection u ter’na manifold creations. Tae magic seeks tae greatest possible diversity ena tae greatest possible harmony. All things ver their own place, perfectly fulfilled ver their unique individual tedas.
Wyr da why tae eldali ever seek va te our own true eldali, va te tae unique tedasli (beings) dij we da. Va do less da va fail va live rep va our true destiny. When you da pressured la others va conform, remember wyr: va give ver va such pressure da va swerve an tae course dij tae magic intends fro you. Te your own true elda, nar ena dij, one vek kon go wrong.
2. 4. nef (if)
Tae mol ver tae Arvyndase elto fro “if” da “nef” (pronounced knee-f, sounds like knife ena na long “e” instead u na “i”).
Nef you tir ever seen tae movie “Tae Nines” ver which tae humans da Sevens, nar tae demi-gods Nines, nar tae psychic koala bears, who tir power over tae weather, da Eights, tae eldali would also te Eights, kon quite human, yet kon re advanced va te Nines, either. Ter da true dij most eldali da human at wyr time. Although kon all eldali manifest tat human. There da dolphin eldali nar bird eldali nar even trees who da eldata (elven). There da even eldali who da kon manifest ver physical bodies at all. Kana, there da na select group u us manifesting ver human bodies nar while we appear human, we da kon quite human. We da na touch more than human, perhaps human plus. Slightly more evolved than tae normal folk, kana tat tae Buddhist would point out, still manifesting ton tae wheel u karma, tae wheel u life nar death, nar we should say, ver tat much tat possible, very happily re. Re nef you ever wonder nef we eldali da really human, tae truth da, sort u.
2. – 5. zan (at)
“At” ver tae elto u Arvyndase da translated “zan” (pronounced zane).
Ter may seem odd dij, zan times like wyr when tae world seems va te hovering ton tae brink u utter destruction, tae eldat (elfin) begin va manifest ver increasing numbers among humankind. Kana ter da precisely because tae world tir come va wyr juncture dij we eldata (elven) tir appeared. Tae fifth sub race u tae fifth root race da about va give way va tae dominance u tae sixth subrace nar tat per their nature, the fifth subrace da kon inclined va go easily. Ter da tae sixth subrace, tae precursors u tae sixth root race, dij most eldat u peoples who da va come, who da tae truly easy going folk.
Zan least, since wyr da re, tae sixth subrace, tae elda nar otherkin folk, yon fro our part make tae transition tat easy fro tae fifth subrace nar our own eldali tat they yon allow us va do. Nef they would just listen va us, they too would profit an (from) wyr transition, kana alas, we expect nar observe dij they da determined va make ter tat hard fro us, nar ultimately themselves, tat they da able. Re sad when ter could te re easy nar re much fun.
2. 6. soflor (of course)
Previously, we told you dij va form tae Englysh molli “of course” ver Arvyndase, you vek use tae molli “u” (of) nar tae mol fro “course”, tat we tir done ver earlier lessons. Now, we would like va introduce you va tae mol “soflor” (pronounced sof [as in sofa] – lore) , which da tae Arvyndase mol fro “of course”, kana ter da composed u neither, “of” sa “course”. Soflor, you da still free va use tae molli fro “of” nar “course” nef dij da your desire.
Soflor, wyr flexibility da kon exclusive va our elto (language). We eldali da la nature na extremely flexible nar adaptable people. Ter da wyr adaptability dij tir helped us va preserve our culture nar hide ter ver faery tales nar other forms, even when we dain overrun la more aggressive peoples. Ter da wyr adaptability dij permits us va te our own eldali amidst normal folk who do kon even believe we exist sa tir ever existed. Soflor, konar (none) u wyr da easy fro us, sa only tat easy tat we make ter, nar we eldali seek tae path u least resistance ver all things. Tae path u least resistance da na rule u Nature, nar we ever endeavor, tat opposed va other folks we could mention, va stay in tune ena Nature, our own nar tae greater Nature dij tae Magic used va create us.
2. 7. ba (do – does) bain (did – done)
Soflor, you da probably hoping fro another verb va use, re here da “ba” (pronounced bah), which da tae Arvyndase mol fro tae Englysh mol “do” nar da also tae Arvyndase mol meaning “does”. Nef you add tae Arvyndase suffix “-in”, you get “bain” (bah – in) sa “did” nar also “done”.
What da ter dij eldali ba dij da different an what others ba? Well, magic soflor, we ba magic while others ba kon even believe ter exists. Ton tae other hand, eldali believe dij all people ba magic, sa nearly all, although most these days ba re unconsciously, while we eldali ba our magic, ver tat much tat possible ena conscious intent. There da those who might argue dij one vek kon ba magic unconsciously, kana these eldali nar tae theories u Carl Jung nar others would argue otherwise. Soflor, eldali da kon big ton arguing, we simply accept dij some folks hold views differently than our own nar we eldali da always open va changing our views nef more evidence nar experience leads us va think differently. Tedas (being) open-minded nar open-hearted da na part u tedas eldata (elven), ale?
2. 8. bil (too [also]) bam (too [too much])
Ver Arvyndase there da two forms fro tae mol “too”. Tae first da bil (pronounced bile) dij da used ver instances where “too” indicates “also”, such tat, “Women feas (love) chocolate, nar tae eldali ba bil.” There da also “bam” (pronounced bame, rhymes with tame) dij da used va indicate “too much” sa “very”, tat ver, “We smoked way bam much weed” sa “Dij pizza dain kon bam good”.
They say dij bam many cooks spoil tae soup, kana we eldali say you vek never tir bam many eldali. Even ver reading wyr, there da elves out there who da immediately saying va their eldali, da wyr true fro me, nar nawe, da wyr true fro wyl elves?
While wyr da true u eldali, ter da nawe true u some other peoples, kana ver many ways we eldali da tae most questioning folk u wyl. Ina eldali might disagree ena wyr, kana dij seems unlikely since we eldat da kon really disagreeable sorts. We da however questioners, who question everything, ever seeking tae truth ver wyl things, nar ever seeking va see nef what we tir tein told agrees ena what we know va te truth, nar what we tir experienced. Fro while we da artists we da nawe scientists seeking tae truth, tae source, tae magic dij ina folks call God nar which we eldali call tae Divine Magic.
2. 13. boro (even)
Tae mol ver Arvyndase fro “even” da “boro” (pronounced bore – row).
Boro though our eldat (elfin) culture da kon longer recognized ver tae world, ver fact, da thought la many va tir never va tir existed zan (at) wyl, we eldali persist, tat ba our culture nar our people, nar boro nef ter da true dij we never existed tat na culture ver tae past, ter da nawe true dij we exist now nar da living nar creating our culture every day. Ter da everywhere we abide nar tae fact dij kon wyl vek see wyr simple truth da only va point out dij kon wyl people da seers, kon wyl, ver fact few, da eldali. Norn da nawe “nornbasar” (thereabouts), la combining “norn” ena tae mol fro “about”, which da basar (pronounced bay – sayr). Nar you vek add ter va “laka” (after) (pronounced lah – kay, since na vowel after na “k’ da nearly always na long vowel), hearn (thus) “nornlaka” (thereafter). Nawe, tae mol “arn” (pronounced air-n) vek te added va ter, which da na shortened form u tae mol “larn” (fore) (pronounced lair-n), va get “nornarn” (therefore), sa “nornfro” (therefor).

La adding tae possessive suffix “-‘na” va these molli eli get el’na (my nar mine) nar eli’na (our – ours).
One might think dij eli eldali da nornarn (therefore) kon na very group oriented folk, kana tae truth da dij because eli da able va retain eli’na individuality ver groups, nar eli’na families certainly foster individuality, eli find forming groups far easier than most peoples, nar ena far less tension nar conflict. Fro nef eli eldali ba kon agree basar (about) something, eli simply, nar very effortlessly, go eli’na own way, ena everyone’s blessing.

Often, individuals writing ver Englysh use tae pural “they” ver wyr instance, saying, “One might go va tae store nef they feel like ter.” Wyr da grammatically incorrect kana da common usage. Eli eldali often use tae molli “hir” combining “him” nar “her” sa “sHe” combining “she” nar “he”. Ver Arvyndase both “hir” nar “sHe” da signified la tae mol “kae” (pronounced kay). Tae possessive da “kae’na” (kay – nah), which would te “hirs”.

Tam da truly “other” kana u tae cruel, often vicious, nar certainly untrustworthy variety. Tam ba kon trust each other, nar eli certainly ba kon trust tam, nar eli expect tam ba kon boro trust tam’na own selves, most u tae time.
Ter da true dij norn da some simple souls who look zan eli askance when eli speak u “tam”, saying eli da wyl one, which da true ver tae most Cosmic sense kana jan ton Earth, these fools da tae natural prey u tae Gobler nar others, nar ter da only tam’na natural innocence, nef indeed tam da innocent, dij yon protect tam an harm.

Soflor (of course), le nar el da kon tat intimate tat eli (we sa us) kana va tae eldali dosh na reference begins va approach dij more intimate, familial, nar desired closeness.
Speaking u le nar el da far different than speaking u eli nar tam. Eli nar tam usually indicates na difference between those who belong ena eli nar those who choose va stand against eli. Kana le nar el denotes na approaching nar growing possibility u intimacy. Le may kon te one u eli yet, kana ter da gos tae way va happening.
Le might get tae idea an wyr dij eli eldali da na clannish people, nar nef le mean la dij dij eli feln each other ena na passion, dij da true. Dosh circular seeming reasoning leads many folks va think u eli tat tedas evasive, kana tat eli tir said previously, eli da dosh na diverse nar unique people dij ter da very difficult va accurately define eli, except va point out tae protean nature u eli’na tedas. Eli da kon merely shape-shifters kana nawe shift-shapers. Eli’na mere presence sends ripples u change verva eli’na environment. One u eli begins va subtly affect things. Two u eli together send ripples u changes ver concentric circles wide basar. Three sa more u eli nar everything ver near proximity begins va transform entirely until, ver time, wyl tir changed.
Nar what does ter change va? Ter changes according va jae eli da. Eli’na eldat nature starts va rub off tonva wyl eli come verva contract ena. Nar yet, eli da changed tat well. Eli eldali tir na saying, “Le vek kon change anything nef le vek kon change le’na (your) self.”

Ter lives ver potential wyl basar eli, kana ter depends repton eli eldali va bring ter va life. Fro one elda alone, wyr da very difficult nar beyond tae power u wyl kana tae greatest eldata magicians. Hern na elda alone vari seeks other eldali sa tends va fall back under tae spell u tae world. Two eldali together da much stronger nar tat long tat tam stay together tam’na magic yon begin va create Eldat/Faerie basar tam. Ena three sa more eldali wyr power grows vari stronger.
Still, boro one elda vek create na atmosphere u Eldat ena kae dress, tae way kae decorates kae home, nar tae magic kae ba. Yet, ultimately ter da kon tae way eli dress sa decorate eli’na surroundings dij created Eldat, kana tae way eli treat each other, eli’na relationship va eli’na others. La first developing eli’na os s’elves, nar then, nar an wyr, eli’na relationship ena eli’na others, na wondrous magic comes verva tedas enakon eli’na boro trying.
Ter da na mystery, kana Eldat, while existing enaver eli nar tedas born u eli’na interaction, jalar, courtesy, nar mutual respect u each other, nawe lives enakon eli. Ver Arvyndase tae Englysh mol “why” da “vas” (pronounced vace: rhymes with race).
Re vas ba eli eldali ba re much magic va bring tae Return u Faerie, sa tat eli would call ter, tae creation u Eldat? Because ter da eli’na destiny, eli’na jalar, eli’na joy, eli’na creative expression. Because eli eldali jalar Eldat. Tae magic u Eldat da tae solution va wu ails mankind nar others ver tae world. Ter da tae key va healing tae Earth nar tae spiritual upliftment u wyl humanity. Kana fro eli ter da eli’na way, eli’na path va spiritual realization nar development. Vas ba eli care basar wu happens va other races? Eli vekkon help kana care. Ter da ver eli’na nature va ba re. Vas ba eli jalar Eldat re much? Eli vekkon help eli’na selves, eli da eldali.

Note eli eldali nawe tir na mol “eldonloa” (-loa = -ology) sa “magicology” tae study u eldon, which da kon used ver Englysh kana da common ver Arvyndase. La adding tae suffix “-lor” sa “-ian”, le tir eldonlor (pronounced L – doan – lore) sa “magician”.

The Magical Elven Love Letters by The Silver Elves
The Magical Elven Love Letters were written and circulated beginning in 1979 by the Silver Elves, to encourage elves to awaken to their Elfin nature, to be true to their individual destiny, and to embrace their starry heritage of the Elven Way. You will find a sample collection included on this page (scroll down below). And we have also made the entire collection available in a series of three books available on all international Amazon websites (or may be ordered from your preferred local bookstore). You do not have to read volume 1 to enjoy volume 2 or 3, so be sure and read about all three books on this page before making a selection.
The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1
The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1, is composed of the letters that were written by the Silver Elves and sent out via snail mail beginning in 1979 and until the mid nineties before the awakening of the internet. They are filled with Elven Philosophy on the Elven Way and observe the world from the point of view of the Elves, which is often quite unique from how most people view and experience the world; and their unique Elven Philosophy of Magic that is often similar and yet distinct from traditional theories and methods of magic. This is the second printing of these letters (first printing was in 2001) and they are interspaced with Elven quotes, axioms, koans and other ancient Elven sayings.
“The Way to Elfin is found on the path That weaves through the Misty forest That lives between the Mountain of Vision And the River of Reality.” . . . .The Silver Elves
Thank you dear Syndareyn for your wonderful review on Amazon of The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1:
“I could probably write a whole book about this book… But I shall have to try and sort out the strongest impressions….
What amazes me the most is how it is like reading my very own thoughts and words… It connects with my elven heart greatly, and works also as a reminder and a confirmation that I am what I’ve always known mys’elf to be.. If ever in doubt, these words will bring me back…
I was barely able to put the book down, and read it to the end in a very short period of time…. And I say we are blessed to have The Silver Elves among us, to inspire, encourage and give love, as many of us probably need (I know I do). Also, They give the courage to act with kindness and to believe in the own s’elf.. Now, that is very important.
There are so many wonderful letters in here, filled with magic, wisdoms, love and understanding… And for me, there is so much that can be learned… I could say something about each letter, but like I said, I shall not be doing that here…. But I can say, that right now when opening the book at a random page, I got to one talking about and explaining what is going on in my life at this very moment… That is truly magical…
They write it all in such magnificent ways, it is truly amazing.. Also, because of You, dear Silver Elves, I am evolving.. Well, what can I say..? Thank You for this book, and for being there for me and others.. You are wonderful.”
We also thank Nikolay Lyapanenko for his review on Goodreads, January 19, 2015:
“The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1 is one of the most magical, amazing, profound books in which it is closely intertwined mystical elven philosophy, elven wisdom of antiquity and in our days and wise instructions and appeals from the authors to readers.
It inspires, it makes you fly and feel that you are not alone in this world that there are those like you and soon in this world will come the winds of change.
This book is a huge contribution, it’s a gift, a treasure for all the elven people!
From the first pages this book will win you over with its uniqueness of presentation and the author’s unique style. It will take your mind somewhere far away, this will save you from loneliness. When I read this book, it seemed to me that I communicate with my very close friend who knows everything about me, who understands me and say “you are not alone in this world”.
I had such a feeling like touching the Truth, which has long been hidden and seemed distant and now approached….”
“Calm and patience achieve what haste and hurry delay.” . . . The Silver Elves
Sample Letters from Magical Elven Love Letters, volume 1 (circulated by snail mail to elven community in early 1980’s)
letter number 1-15. . . . a crystal is a million stars united
It is our way to look within to our own spirits for the harmony and peace from which the creative energy of the Great Mother Nature flows outward to perceive a new world of unity. So it is through this inward looking that we reflect in our words and actions clear vision of our s’elves. Our vision mirrors in all directions to the world its purest part… the s’elf in All.
We, through the ages, have striven to obtain a clearer vision of our s’elves. The world of conflicts remind us that we still have far to go, a journey long, long, long it is… a journey to the stars. A journey to the stars within us. We seek to transcend outer conflict by turning within to our own s’elves. Our true s’elves, our inner identity goes much deeper and yet is simpler far than the encult*urated roles we play as we pass into and out of the worlds. By seeking Elfin within ours’elves and by striving to see “the elf” that is in everyone we obtain a clearer vision of the life we once knew… the unity of all.
We play the roles of society for the sake of preserving unity. Still the archetypical forms with which we do identify are far from the structured worlds of social standing and IQ ratings. No more of it. We have come to dance and sing and listen to birds… remembering ages long gone by enough to come again… come again.
Elfin is for us not so much a place we can go, as a place we can be. It is the energy we expend toward becoming more gentle and more loving… the effort to evolve and develop our inner natures, our modesty and adaptability and our unending purpose to respect and be fair to all creatures whatsoever… these are the real steps to Elfin and it is our wish that all the Elves might transform those steps into a dance of love that will be to the children a bright and radiant mandala whose center is the dawning of a gentle race.
Elfin is open to all people whatsoever, yet it is equally true to say that at the present time/space juncture there are very few who are open to Elfin and thus they could never enter it. These €ne folk can never even see the elves even when we are sharing a space/time. We, by nature, strive for union… it is our way… with these folks as with all. We share the air, the swaying of the trees, the song of the bird… invisible magic vibrations emanate and we are all the better for the experience and it “lit the fire to the soul who never knew its friend”. It is not our purpose to impose el€nness upon anyone… an act impossible in its core and no true elf would try… yet for those who are open, whose inner heart remembers a tune half forgotten from long, long ago and far, far away, we move ever deeper into the Faerielands. Come along, elves. It is a long journey ahead but together it can be a great adventure. A new land, a new life, a new people and a brighter day.
There comes a moment in each elf’s life when standing on the border of twilight that lies between the world of normal reality and the elfin lands beyond… a realization comes of a sudden that the twilight is fading and that they must move of their own into the faerielands or remain in the world of the everyday. We are going, brothers and sisters, into the el€n realms and our hearts are alive with the memory of ancient lifetimes when we were all together. Our minds remember not but in our hearts dwell memories that cannot be obscured through the aeons of life and death. As we watch you, standing on the border hesitant, drifting, listening to the voice of the thousand misgivings, the lies, the rationalizations, we sing to you gently: Remember… Remember… Remember long ago, or… was it only yesterday or soon to be tomorrow. We are going and trust that our children’s children’s children will emerge in the vibrational reality of Arda reborn: a planet healed and paradise won.

letter number 2-5 . . . . magic dance of the faerie
Many elfin are adept at playing roles in the world… the faeries in particular are masters of this; however, we never lose sight of the difference between our role and the elfin spirit that is playing it. The normal folk on the other hand most often associate their roles with their selves and can not conceive of anything beyond the simple here and now of material and status acquisition. They accuse us of living in a fantasy world and we surely would not deny it. What is unclear to them but so very evident to us is that they live in a fantasy world, too. The difference is that our fantasy world is created by us to enhance our lives and freedom while their fantasy world was created by their masters to ensure their cooperation in work slavery.
They claim their world is the real one and ours is unreal. But we experience our realm with as much if not more reality as they do theirs and it is our view that their world is without spiritual substance and dangerously plummeting headlong toward disaster and extinction. We would save them if we could, we would free them if they would allow it, but freedom is terrifying to them and so we just smile and pass on our way. We have no interest in arguing with them or anyone… debate and argumentation are surely not the Elven Way. The universe is vast and we feel assured that they will meet their destiny as surely as we will embrace ours. And space is infinite… vast enough for each and all.
Many folk make much ado about their space… their territoriality another symptom of their lamentable fear and alienation from even those of their own kind. The elfin are ever eager to share our spaces with our kindred and others of good spirit. Our easy camaraderie and open hearths a symbol of our people. To live as the elfin live is to be elfin; to be among us is to be embraced as our own. We await your coming, we await your return. And all the while we dance with the joyous abandon born of our union.
Whenever we share a space for a time with our kindred we leave behind the shimmering faerie dust. Our elf kin delight in this, although the half elfin often vacuum it up quickly after we’re gone. They are seldom ready for so much for so long. For them a little bit and briefly is more than enough. Otherwise the fear comes upon them, instilled through years of enculturation, that they will become lost forever in the magic dance of faerie.

The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 2
This is our second collection of our love letters (and it is also the second printing with the first printing in 2007), composed principally of 110 of our early internet letters (beginning circulated in the 1990s). You can find samples of these letters on various sites all over the web, for they were some of our most popular letters and have been copied and spread around frequently. It is not necessary to read Volume 1 before reading and enjoying Volume 2. These letters give the reader an experiential understanding of what it is to be an elf and enter the realm of Faerie and Magick. Enjoy!
We thank you ever so much, dear Violin Goddess, for your review on Amazon of The Magical Elven Love Letters, volume 2:
“The Silver Elves have done it again! Their thorough mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional immersion into their identities as Elves has brought about a unique and unparallelled view into not only what it is like to be Otherkin (specifically Elves), but also going deeper into the experience therein! I will admit, it took me some time to get past their “once-a-hippie-always-a-hippie” their writing style, and take their “total immersion” life seriously. But once I did, I gained an almost immediate profound respect and deep honor for their point of view, wisdom and philosophy. As in many things spiritual, you don’t have to take everything they say as “cannon”, but if there are things you find in their books that resonate with you; consider it a gift from them to you. Because, that is EXACTLY what they consider these books to be!!”
Thank you dear Nikolay Lyapanenko for your extraordinary review on Goodreads:
“Another great, deep, magical and philosophical book from the Silver Elves’ series, continuing the famous letters written by the authors and sent to a variety of regions to the elven brothers and sisters, otherkin, to awaken their inner nature, to inspire, to encourage, and to support their extraordinary in a world full of dullness and ordinary people. This book helps to understand many things and is a wonderful book of support and understanding for the modern elves, for the “aliens” who just don’t fit into the system of normality.
This book is big enough, so if you buy it, you can read it for a long time (although when you start reading, you may find it difficult to tear and then you’ll read it faster and will want the third part! 🙂 ) In this book you will find about 110 magical letters filled deep meaning, vivid metaphors and talks about some sort of the Higher Mind, the Higher Spirits the elves call The Shining Ones, who are guiding and helping us, on each step of our evolution.
It also displays the world attitude of a typical elf, describing what each elf in some period of life feel and experience, going through the magical elven way. This book moves everyone into the magical worlds of Faerie and Elfin!
I highly recommend this book to all and everyone, to all elven folk! It takes a special place on my bookshelf and I’ll reread it again and again, all the time learning something new.
A very magical, beautiful and deep, philosophical book!”

Letter 91 … Setting the World in Order
we listen as the goblins…
dear kin,
… sing their chants of war, a war against the grimlins whom they armed not long before. Their sabers rattle loudly, they beat upon their shields, they scream their bloody threats but neither one will yield, for while the din of war doth ring as a mighty racket, behind it all it’s gold that speaks and they’ll make it by the packet. Oh, they give us their excuses and all their reasons why, but in the end it’s only them that’s falling for their lies. But we do much admire the workings of their magic, even though the end result will be so very tragic, for while they scream and stamp and shout and garner our attention, their hands reach in our pockets, a fact they do not mention. Alas, what can we do but suffer for their folly, as we raise the spirits ancient, who live among the holly.
Dressed in green, a mask they wear, covered all in leaves, they bring to us the energy, that’s been stolen by those thieves. For in that world they’re powerful, but in this one they’re not, they speak a lot about spirit, but it’s what they have not got. But the green one’s are of nature born and spirit is their name, and when it comes to magic, that is their very game. Vines twist round their arms and legs, bark they have for skin, and for those who honor them, they’ll always be a friend. But those who hack and slash and burn, in greed and their uncaring, will find in time their wrath awoke and in it’s face they’re staring. They say there is a reckoning, and in this case they’re right, for nature long abused, will someday turn and fight; and spirit long neglected, whose name they still evoke, will turn about with its swift sword, and make the final stroke.
But in the time awaiting, what is there we can do, we who are of elfin kind and faerie blooded true? No arrows will avail here, and bullets do no good, it’s magic that is called for, for we beneath the hood. Magic is our way of life, magic is our creed, magic is the path by which, we fill our every need. The question here is simple, we face it every day, do we surrender to their world, or take the Elven Way. It is a question posed by life, and struggles that we face, and its reply we answer with courage and with faith. Each night we step into that realm and coming back we bring a bit of elfin magic of which the faeries sing. And weaving it into our lives and sprinkling all the trees, a world long lost returns again, to bring the madness ease. Healing follows in our wake, it touches all we pass, and though they seldom know it, they breathe a sigh at last. Would you be of elfinkind? There’s none who are denied, none who have with all their hearts, have sincerely tried. For if you call on out to Her, you’ll always be replied.
Put forth your magics, kindred, in everything you do, and watch the world around you, as it is born anew. All will be transformed, in the blinking of Her eye, yet for us that is a long, long time, you probably wonder why. The mighty oak from acorn grows, but never in a day, it is a life of effort, that brings success our way. We must prove ours’elves devoted, we must surely show our will, for we have done our magics and we must do them still. What world is this you wonder, what world is it you wish, if not the one where faeries dance and elven lovers kiss. Do you think it possible or helpless do you feel? For their dark spell of madness will depress one till they yield, and then in yielding, be squeezed some more, till there’s nothing left to feel. But cast away the dark thoughts, pay to them no mind, for they are but illusions born of wretched kind. And we are Elfin born and breed, deeply to the core, and though our bodies yield to time, there is one thing that’s sure, that being elfin we shall be, greeted by our kindred, and borne away on faerie wings we will be well tended, and when their magics heal us, and when we hear the call, we shall come again to the world’s great wall, and we shall tear it down, brick and stone and mortar, and with a hug and a kiss we’ll set the world in order.

The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 3
The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 3, is composed of some of our early letters that we wrote and sent out on the internet prior to the year 2000, as well as all of the letters sent out and/or published during our journey and relocation to Hawaii in 2008, with accounts of our encounters with the menehuni and the unfolding magic of the isles. These letters are filled with Elven Philosophy and observe the world from the point of view of the Elves, which is often quite unique from how most people view and experience the world; and their unique Elven Philosophy of Magic that is often similar and yet distinct from traditional theories and methods of magic. Like the first two volumes, volume 3 is interspaced with Elven quotes, axioms, koans and other ancient Elven sayings. This book is the completion of the trilogy of The Magical Elven Love Letters.

Schools of Magic
April 22, 2011
Wouldn’t it be nice…
Dear kin,
… if there were actually schools of magic like Hogwarts in the world or Brakebills, the college for magical education in Lev Grossman’s wonderful novel The Magicians? Well, there are, of course, not always formal ones (though there are those as well) but if you look out of the corner of your eye in the same way one catches a glimpse of Faerie, or perhaps, in this case, if you look out of the corner of your mind you may just see that schools of magic abound. They are all around us, hidden within every other school and college that exists. And, naturally, there is that greatest school of magic of all, the one we call Life.
All of life comes from The Magic and thus, to the mind of the elfin, the magician, the witch, the sorcerer, the enchanter, et al, every experience in life is a lesson in magic. This, perhaps, can be most easily seen in that basic principle of cause and effect. For what is magic by the intentional and willful causing of an effect? Everything we do and all we encounter are lessons in how to obtain our will in the world, and for elfin magic particularly, but all magic really, this begins with mastering our own s’elves.
Yet, if we each look at our own lives and history we will find that all our schools, our elementary schools, our middle schools, high schools and colleges, all were secret schools of magic, however, they might have appeared on the surface. Take one of our number, Zardoa, for instance. When he was in elementary school, he went to a school very much like Hogwarts. He lived there, away from his parents and family, eight and a half months a year, coming home for Thanksgiving, Clausmys, Ostara egg week and summer. While there were no girls there, he did live in a dormitory, in a large old brick building out in the country. The school was run by witches, well, they called themselves Benedictine nuns but, they were witches and not unlike the Bene Gesserit of the Dune novels. They called it a military school, but upon reflection we think of it as a school for Warlocks. Our definition of warlock being different from the traditional one that has warlock meaning betrayer or traitor. To these elves, a warlock is especially trained for magical combat and more significantly to put a “lock” on war, to prevent dark spells from taking effect.
In our own case, we home-schooled our children in what we called, Elf School. A school that along with reading, writing, arithmetic and geography, taught spell casting, grammarye and various other types of magic. Our son, being of a heroic and adventurous disposition, also belonged to, and earned various badges in, Elf Scouts, and our daughter was an initiated witch by the time she was 5 yrs old.
Ultimately though, magical education is not dependent upon books or classrooms or other educational paraphernalia, but upon meeting those individuals who are truly magical. Their energy is contagious and while we can learn quite a bit by studying them, we tend to learn so much more, just by knowing them. There are those who think we elfin are touched, and it is true, we have been touched by magic and it was a true education.

Genuine Magic

Depression…
Dear kin,
… is, of course, a dark spell, designed to suck one’s energy to the point where one feels powerless to create a counter spell, in fact, think it worthless to do so. And yet, how can one have a realistic and reasonable view of the world and its current conditions and tendencies and not feel depressed? When one realizes that the whole world is ruled by magic, one suddenly becomes aware that what is really being asked is how can one, when looking upon the wicked conjurations that are strangling this world, not succumb to the dark tentacles that draw one into them? And there, naturally, is the answer, for as soon as one fully cognizes that the condition of the world is due to wicked, clogged, stagnate, and misspelled magic, one comes to understand as well that the solution to this situation is clarity of one’s mind, purpose and magic.
Alas, if you tell someone who is bound up in a depression spell that positive thinking would go a long way to overcoming it, that a positive attitude is, at least in part, the solution to hir problem, SHe will merely stare at you as though you are crazily out of touch with reality, give you numerous excuses why this suggestion or that wouldn’t/couldn’t work for them or even, in some circumstances rage at you like a lunatic about how insane you are to think there is any means that will overcome hir difficulties. And, honestly, there is truth in that. The spell has it claws too deep into their soul and cannot be come at directly. Ultimately, it is their own inner magic that will pull them out of it, or failing that, they will have to wait for another lifetime to avail a fresh opportunity to do so. One can only in these cases maintain one’s own inner calm and not let the spells that have bound them, affect one’s own s’elf, sending to the individual a healing and unraveling spell that will, unfortunately, in most cases take a long time to unravel the darkness that entraps the individual and then only when that person is truly ready for it to do so.
The opposite of the Depressives are those individuals who attempt to use main force, the pure might of their will, to overcome those dark spells. They are often charismatic, or attempt to be, their smiles and good cheer, while powerful spells that fool many folk, seem false to elves, for we see through their feeble magics and know that when they encounter obstacles, those who don’t instantly admire them, or go along with them, a frustrated anger will come raging out, that was concealed beneath their supposed positive outlook all along. They, of course, dismiss the Depressives, out of hand, deeming them worthless to even be bothered with.
In truth, these elves, and nearly everyone else, much prefer these magicians and their false cheer to being with Depressives, for even if their magic doesn’t quite ring true as yet, at least they are trying. Although one must ever be careful of these who think that those that are not with them are against them, and they will very quickly seek to strike back at what they perceive of as the offense of not praising them sufficiently.
Which brings us back to the question, how can one live in this world filled with misery and madness (dark magics) and not be affected by it? And the answer is, one cannot, for we cannot affect what does not affect us. To change the magic of this world, we must take it within ours’elves without being overwhelmed by it, sort out its threads, and reweave them according to the vision that lives in every elf’s heart. We need be positive, optimistic, and good naturedly cheerful without being false and this we can only do when we have faith in our own magic and in the power of The Magic. Most of all, we need be genuine, for genuineness, above all things, finds response in the world and is one of most powerful of magics.

The Silver Elves
Powerless
December 5, 2010
Most elves and otherkin in this modern world, or postmodern world if you wish to view it that way, feel overwhelmed and powerless. We are, quite a many of us, alone and separated. Most of us have neither wealth nor social status, fame nor worldly power. The mere fact that we admit being “other” relegates us to a category of society, best described as loony. That is, naturally, a dark magic spell used by traditional society to enact peer pressure to discourage anyone from straying too far from their accepted norms and mores. We are dealt with in the same way that TV shows and movies deal with people who suddenly converge on any place where they think UFO’s have been sighted, portraying them for the most part as irrational wackos.
Because we are elves, we naturally both recognize and ignore such dark and limiting spells. And it is our strength to do so, to refuse to submit to the peer pressure of the society around us that in many ways most defines us as elves and other. We frankly don’t care what they think, we don’t care what they think of us, and we are somewhat in doubt whether most of them actually think for themselves at all. For some of the most common sayings for raising children in their societies, is “children should be seen and not heard,” and “shut up, don’t argue, and do what you’re told”, and their command of the power of reason goes no further than, “because I told you so”.
However, though we ignore such bullying, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t take its toll on us. We miss Elfin desperately. We miss our loving kin and we miss a world where people are rational, reasonable and kind. We live in this world, seemingly powerless to do much about the various problems that confront it, from Global Climate Change, to Poverty, potential mass epidemics and a chance that in the not too distant future these gun toting, hate filled, screaming morons who shout down anyone who tries to reason with them and are so eager to bring the apocalypse, might just get what they want.
You might think that if there really were a loving God in the Universe SHe might give power to we elfin instead of those, who while paying Hir lip service really worship those dark and wicked “gods” to whom they offer blood sacrifice on a daily basis and who proclaim that sex, other than for procreation, is evil and pornographic.
But this is the material world …
Dear kindreth,
… that most dark of places; their natural habitation and it is truly we who are the visitors here, we who have come to transform it, not with force and violence, but with magic. For that is the truth of it. We have no powers in this world but these, really, the powers of magic. The powers of love, intelligence, creativity, reason, kindness, enchantment and all the other powers of magic, which are our inheritance and birthright. Would you really have it any other way?
Though it seems otherwise, we are not at all powerless in this world. We possess that greatest power of all … the miraculous. Use your magic, beloved. Be your magic and you will see that amidst the darkness a new light is rising.

You Don’t Have to Be an Elf, To Be an Elf
August 27, 2010
We elves are incredibly loyal individuals…
Beloved elfkind,
… and this virtue of loyalty is very important to us. We are utterly trustworthy and we expect in turn that our others, friends, lovers, companions and kindred will be equally trustworthy. We have a saying, “You don’t have to be an elf to be an elf; but you must be a true elf to be a truly an elf”.
This seemingly paradoxical statement begins to make sense when you realize that in our Elfin languages the word for elf and the one for friend or even lover are sometimes used interchangeably. Thus this statement may be translated: You don’t have to be an elf to be a friend to the elves, but you have to be a true friend to your others if you are to consider yours’elf truly an elf.
Alas, once someone betrays our trust, it is hard to regain it. This is not to say that we won’t forgive the individual. We are, in fact, a very forgiving folk and generally have a compassionate understanding of the psychological complexes and compulsions that drive individuals to betray those to whom they should be faithful. But it is unlikely that we would ever trust them again, and while they would probably never notice the difference in our treatment of them, we would be ever aware that we are dealing with a “dog that bites”.
Some might think that this refers to our romantic and sexual relationships, that if you cheat on us, we will feel betrayed, but that is only true within the boundaries of each relationship. Elves are, in general, very liberal about sexuality and our “marriages” come in a variety of forms. Loyalty within them depends upon the agreements among those involved. Since many elves are polyamorous by nature “cheating” as it is defined in normal society often does not exist as an idea among us. Again, it all depends upon the elves involved and the commitments they have made to each other.
To us, loyalty in terms of friendship is more important than sexual fidelity. Lovers may come and go (particularly when we are young) but a friend should be a friend forever. If you lose the friendship of an elf, you’ve lost nearly everything, for luck will part from you, and grace. And while one may pray to dark gods for help in those dire straits, the heavens know that those fickle beings cannot be depended upon.
It is not that we will enact our revenge upon you, well, the Unseelie might, but we of the “Seelie who Court” will do nothing more than withdraw our trust and that is like losing the best friends one ever had. What could be worse than that? And it is not that we don’t wish them well, for we do, knowing that eventually all magic returns to its sender. It’s just that we know that going forth into the world they will attract others just as disloyal as they, for where can one ever find friends as true and loyal as the elves.

Elven Charisma
July 31, 2010
It is not…
Dearest Kindlings,
… that there are not charismatic elves among us. In fact, nearly all elves can be noted as having a certain charm or charisma. It is part of our nature, even if, it is true, we have learned to hide this power in order to move unseen among mankind and others. Nor is it that we lack leaders. There are many elves with leadership ability, although, the word leader does not translate quite the same in elven. In Elvish languages, leader is more akin to Initiator, that is one who gets things going, rather than one who is in charge or who organizes things.
No, what we seem to lack is the capacity that so many seem to have to be “ditto heads”, smiling, grinning monkeys who mimic and parrot whatever their leader tells them. We are somehow by nature constitutionally unfit to be followers. We tend to think for ours’elves and we always, albeit politely usually, question authority. It is not that we cannot cooperate. In fact, if truth be told and we have sworn to do so, we are better at cooperating voluntarily than nearly any other peoples, it is just that we are, in our way, each leaders/initiators, and when we combine our powers we do it not because we do not know how to function on our own, but because we delight in creating greater things together.
On the other hand, we elves tend to be learners more than teachers. Even when we “teach” we are learning and so the somewhat strict hierarchy that exists among some folks between students and instructors, is not found among us. In the elfin mind, we are all learning together, always… in all ways. We are lifelong students, lifetime after lifetime; and one of the things these elves have learned is to embrace learning; learning all we can, whenever we can.
There are some folks who think these elves wise, or least that’s what they have told us, and we admit that we continually aspire toward wisdom. And if indeed we do have some wisdom, perhaps our greatest wisdom is to not hide our ignorance and our tendency, when confronted with those who know more, or better, or clearer then we, to accept their greater knowledge eagerly. There is an old elven saying (that we just made up) that goes: There’s no shame in ignorance, only in refusing to learn.
This is not to say that we change our opinions simply because someone, even a very impressive or charismatic someone, disagrees with us. However, we do give genuine consideration to any and all opposing views and if we find that these alternate or opposing views are valid in whole or part, we quite easily transform our own views to incorporate this new and greater understanding. In that way, we continually learn and make all things worthy our own.
Some folks think we are “full of it”, and they may be right. But what is this “it” we are full of? Is it worthless refuse that should be discarded? Or fertilizer that one can use to enrich hir own life and learning? Each must decide for hir own s’elf, for we are elves, and that’s what we do.

Elven Organization
June 24, 2010
It is important to understand…
Dear Elfin Kin,
… that nothing we say in these letters is absolute. The absolute Truth is The Magic, which is to say Infinite Potentiality. Everything is possible and we do not mean to limit ours’elves or you with the words we cast here, but rather simply to share our observations of our dear elfin as we experience and encounter them in this time.
That being said, there seems to be something incongruous about the idea of organized elves. In fact the term Elven Organization is nearly an oxymoron. It is not so much that we are incapable of organizing anything, although for these elves that is pretty close to the truth, but that, organizing elves is like “herding cats”. Although we call it: “organizing elves”.
This is in part why our great gatherings tend to be spontaneous. Certainly there are small gatherings that have been organized that occur now and again, but the great gatherings of elves seem to occur as if by chance when our artistic, creative natures draw groups of us together in a particular time and place. That these gatherings seldom last beyond a few years, sometimes as much as a decade is simply to say that we elves are as elusive as the wind and as ephemeral as starlight.
We also tend, when we gather, to attract all sorts of others at the same time. Not just elves, but faeries, pixies, dwarves, brownies, gnomes and all manner of others, light and dark elfin and then eventually the greedies sensing money making opportunities come and others yet, until there are so many of them that we elves eventually drift away, disappearing as we appeared, unexpectedly and unplanned.
Despite this seemingly natural resistance to being organized (And please understand that we are not necessarily consciously opposed to being organized. In fact, we often wish we had a manager to interface between the world and us. We could really use one.), we elves have a curious affinity and sensitivity to each other that makes us rather like a flock of birds in flight or a herd of deer who mysteriously turn and change direction simultaneously.
So it is that the inner and near constant hunger for union and companionship that most elves feel, draws us toward each other, yet, for some mysterious reason, most of our attempts at organizing gatherings and communities succeed in but small gains. But this, dear kin, is merely to say that the Time of the Great Faerie Circle has not yet arrived. When that Time nears our Attractors/Enchanters/ Organizers will emerge from among us, and draw us together just as water tends to run to the sea. We will all hear, or really sense their call, and instinctively respond.
Until then, trust your desire for union, keep your eyes bright and eager, your heart tender and kind, and your mind open and free. And when that need gets strong enough, The Magic will take note and will guide you to your Intended or they to you. When that meeting comes you will remember how lucky you are to be an elf and how Magic does truly rule the Universe.

One might think…
Beloved Elfin,
… and many do, that the greatest problem in manifesting Elfin in the world is dealing with the various peoples who inhabit it. Those who read Tolkien might be led to believe that we have an ongoing feud with the Dwarves and that they would be a problem for us. But, if that was ever the case, it has long since passed for most. In Norse mythology the dwarves are referred to as Dokkalfar or dark elfin (which is not to say that all dark elves are dwarves), but they have also been referred to as the Dwarrow Elves or Barrow Elves (a name that also refers to Hobbits, Gnomes, etc.), which shows that the dwarves are actually our ancient cousins and these elves, at least, have always gotten along very well with the dwarves we have known (but then we do strive to get along with everyone.
Some might think that the Greedies are a problem for us, but in truth, while they do create terrible problems in the world at times, these difficulties effect everyone, not simply the elves and truly, the Greedies look at everyone as though SHe were a bank account, and don’t care what anyone calls hirs’elf, or what hir religion, race, etc. might be, as long as the individual has money to spend. Otherwise, the person might as well be dead as far as the Greedies are concerned, which is why when they lose their own wealth they often commit suicide. “Better dead than poor”, is a Greedie motto.
The Grimlean, of course, hate everyone who is different from them, who follows a different religion or different political party, is of a different race or nationality. But they particularly hate other tribes of Grims who don’t share their views, so while they hate the elves in the general course of things, they don’t particularly notice us. Still, they keep the world filled with terrorists of various stripes and extremist nut jobs of various persuasions, and that is not a good thing.
On the other hand, the Violynts will prey on anyone they think weaker than them and they particular despise anyone that they think thinks they are better than them (did you follow that?). The easiest way of dealing with the Violynts is to avoid them whenever possible, never reveal weakness to them and always treat them with respect (they are desperate for respect). Of course, it is the policy of these elves to treat everyone with respect no matter who they might be.
The normal folk, of course, often scorn us or think us crazy, but then we are not so very sure they are not insane, they nearly always are neurotic and while their treatment of us is irritating to some elves, its really an inconvenience and nothing more.
No, dear kin, the people who are the greatest obstacle to us manifesting Elfin on the Earth, if we are to be honest with ours’elves and be magicians that we are, are ours’elves. We could this very day, this very hour, set ours’elves to creating Elfin on Earth, but, alas, we are not mature enough, not magically developed enough, to do so. We still suffer, most of us, from being raised among normal folk, which has made us unwilling to yield, for the most part, for mutual benefit. We are still unable to give up our tendency to argue about nearly everything, our urge to be in charge, and our desires to go this way, that way and the other way, all at the same time. We are still uncertain about who we truly are and cling to our false ideas of s’elf as though they would save us.
Of course, if we had a charismatic leader, we would yield all that, give up our egos and at last apply ours’elves to a life of service and frasority (brotherhood/sisterhood). Or would we? The truth is charismatic leaders hate us. We are not followers and this fact is always, even if unspoken, a challenge to their authority. Naturally, their slavering minions despise us even more, for we challenge without a word the truth of their devotion. And yet, without such leaders, how will we ever come together in a lasting and enduring way? Normals can’t even imagine the possibility. That’s why they always write about us as having Kings and Queens. They can’t quite conceive the cooperative anarchy that rules a true elven tribe/clan/family, etc.
Do not despair, dear ones. The truth is that our time has not yet come. There have been great gatherings of us in the past, and there will be again. It need not be forced. In fact, cannot really be forced at all produce all we wish to come true. We are like puzzle pieces, each of us unique. We fit together in precise ways, each with their own place. To force a piece in the wrong place is to distort the picture we are trying to create.
It is true that there are some Master pieces, which like Wild Cards, can fit together with nearly any other piece. And yes, these elves are Master pieces, and perhaps in time, all elves will be masterpieces, fitting together easily, anywhere and creating something truly wondrous called Elfin.
But in the meantime, worry not, direct your magic to becoming the unique and special elf you know yours’elf to be. That is your right, your responsibility, and your destiny. In the gentle time, have faith. Time and The Magic, will take care of the rest. For when you truly become yours’elf, you will find that automatically, magically, you have become a Masterpiece.

Elven Realities
November 28, 2009
We elves are often told…
Beloved Kindeth,
… that we are not in touch with Reality. By which is meant that the current view of the masses is that elves, do not, could not, and have never existed. They believe that elves are a product of fantasy and not reality and our belief that we are elves therefore means we are not in touch with that/their view of reality.
But to we elfin, Reality is The Magic, that undifferentiated potentiality from which all things are born and all other “realities” such as the consensual reality that compose the current cultural views in the world are, in a sense, illusions. Although, really we’d call them “magics”, that is little spells cast upon the world that bind the minds and hearts of the normal folk and lead them to believe that this is true and that not, rather than that this is true for now and all else is possible in the future here or elsewhere at this time, as we elfin believe.
We elves also have and are creating a consensual reality. We might call it an Elven Reality. In which we are elves and Elfin, Faerie, Elfland, Elsewhere, Otherwhen, etc. does indeed exist, primarily though our own manifestation. That is to say, our being elves, that is, living our lives as elves, makes elves real, and in so much as we create our own Ealds/Demesne/ Domains/ etc., our own culture, then Elfin is real as well. Made real by our acts, which is to say magic. For this is indeed another spell, or really series of interconnected spells that make our realms just as real, if not at this time as powerful, as the ones the mass of humanity share and consider true.
Of course, they think it is a popularity contest. That is since the majority of folks don’t believe elves exist that therefore we shouldn’t be permitted to think differently or by doing so we have shown ours’elves to be … you got it … crazy, which means out of touch with reality. The Greedies, the Grimlean and the Violynts are particularly adamant about this. The Greedies because they are afraid it might endanger their profits, the Grim because they are so sure they have the one true Truth and are afraid of anyone who holds another view, and the Violynts because, well because they’re just plain afraid, and afraid to reveal they’re afraid.
Of course, we get the scientific argument as well, but we have yet to encounter a true scientist (that is to say an open minded individual), who, after having spoken to us on the subject, hasn’t yielded to the power of our logic (not to mention the spell we cast upon them). Our culture is just as valid as Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Islamic, Judeo-Hebraic cultures, just as real as American, French, Germanic, Korean, Chinese cultures. Our culture is no more fantasy than theirs (okay, maybe we do have a lot more fantasy in our culture, but, to we elfin, that is a good thing) and no more made up than theirs, or just as made up/ created as theirs. For all cultures, all religions are spells. The only difference between our spells and theirs is that we are very aware that we are casting spells (after all, if legend is true, we are the original spellers) and they like to pretend they’re not (because magic doesn’t exist, etc, etc.), and their reality is the “true reality”.
But this is what we know is true: Everything is possible. Doing is Being and we are being elves, here and now, and that, is Reality.
Kyela,
The Silver Elves
Our Faeries Gather
September 1, 2009
These elves…
Blessed kindred,
… have between 400 and 500 Teraphim and Lares, that abide within and about our Eald. Over two hundred of these are certainly faeries of various kinds, but we also have pixies, elves, brownies, leprechauns, gnomes, menehunes, gargoyles and even a hobbit. All of which, have and do faithfully serve us, and our magics.
A little while back, we asked them to fulfill a particular magic working for us and we promised if they accomplished it. we would host a Faerie Party for all of them. Actually, we confess, these elves are softies and we really told them that if they did the magic, whether it turned out as we wanted it or not, we’d throw them a party because we trust them and know that while they may not always succeed, they always do their best to do so.
In the gentletime, Silver Flame set up a faerie circle just inside the floor to ceiling glass window to our lanai (porch) and drew two cards from our Healing with Fairies Deck, to represent the event organizers. The cards she got were the Sexuality (of course) and Follow Your Dreams faeries. She also wrote to several of our faerie sisters, who decided they would hold faerie gatherings at the same time. So Mechekoryn and Aiea in Northern California and Gal (pronounced Gail) Avyryl in Georgia each set up a circle of their own. Mechekoryn sent us some faerie lights (Christmas tree lights with transparent purple leaves around them) to go with our circle, and Silver Flame sent her a photo of our sister Gal Avyryl and sent Gal one of the leafs from the faerie lights.
As it happened, it took the faeries and other spirits only about three weeks to accomplish the magic we had asked of them, a magic we had done, not for ours’elves, but for one of our kindred. So the date was set and it was agreed upon by the various sisters hosting the gatherings that they would hold them for three consecutive nights. Each night these elves opened all the cabinet doors within which several hundred of our teraphim reside, set out a pool for them to bath in, turned on the faerie lights, and set out some wine. Gal Arvyryl put lights in her window and set out elixirs and chocolate. In the morning, after they had gone to bed, we would turn out the lights and close the cupboard doors.
On the first night, just as we were going to sleep, we heard a small bell tinkling. We expect that was to initiate the event. On the third and final night, in the middle of the night, Zardoa was awakened from a deep sleep and asked to compose a poem for the event. He stumbled groggily from our bed, went into the living room, lay on the floor and scribbled out the following:
Are you a faerie?
I know me some
Gathering at dusk
After deeds have been done.
Beautiful faces,
Charming and sweet
Kind in a way
That one seldom meets.
Their eyes all a twinkle
They give me a wink
I blush at the thoughts
They cause me to think.
I know some faeries
Playful and fun
It got me to wondering
If you might be one?
Afterwards, he lay the completed work outside their circle and went back to bed and sleep.
So what is the point of this? The point is, dearest, that unlike some magicians who try to compel demons to fulfill their commands, we elves are served by willing spirits and while they do this out of the kindness of their hearts and their love for us as kindred, it is still good to remember that they need energy, too, have wishes and desires of their own, have their own destiny and fates (the word fairy often been said to be derived from the Latin word fata or fate), and deserve what rewards we can give them. Thanks is always appreciated, but parties and celebrations seldom go amiss. Remember your household spirits, dear kin, and they in their turn shall not forget you.
Kyela,
The Silver Elves
In Search of Elfin
February 25, 2009
The way to Elfin is within…
Beloved,
… the StarGates that lead to Elfin from this world are accessed by acts of s’elf transformation. As we change ours’elves, becoming more and more elfin, that is to say, more and more our own true s’elves, we shift from one parallel world to another, getting closer each time to the place we wish to be.
It is true the changes in the world about us are quite subtle, but this is to be expected. If we take one step on a journey of a thousand miles we cannot expect to be very far from where we were just a step previously. However, as we continue on our journey, step by step, the changes begin to become quite obvious until, eventually, it is clear we have stepped into a whole new world, a new world born, in a sense, of the changes within our own s’elves.
Many people, perhaps most, conceive of StarGates in a material sense. They are ever looking for the passage to Faerie (that is if they even believe it exists) or other worlds through physical wormholes. Yet we elves are a spiritual people and while we are aware of the material world, we know it is ultimately an illusion, and we do not define ours’elves in terms of it. Thus it is not pointed ears, nor white hair, nor any particular physical characteristic that defines what it is to be elven but aspects of our spirit that define us. We are magicians, wonder workers, wish granters, and, in a very real sense, we are elves because we wish to be elves. Our elfin nature is born of an act of magic. Of course, there are those who might wish to argue about this, but those who like to argue are seldom of elfin kind.
So it is that the way to Elfin/Faerie is found not just in the material world but in the spiritual world as well and if one does not find it in the spiritual realms, or really, have the proper spirit, one will not recognize it in the physical realm. For the elfin spirit is the key, the way, the mystic glass, so to speak, though which all things become clear to we who are elven and Elfin comes alive around us. Without that spirit vision the world is, indeed, a very dull and mundane place.
Yet once one’s elfin vision opens, the world becomes a place of wonder. Everyday is a new adventure and things that were previously hidden from one are now clearly visible. The world of spirit/energy that swirls ever around us becomes apparent, and our interconnectedness to all of life is laid bare. Our mind, our intuition, our dreams and our feelings are revealed as the interface with the Universe, and as we extend them outward we can touch all things just as a drop of water in the ocean touches the entire ocean.
So too are we connected to Elfin/Faerie by our sense of wonder. Our desire to be there is our map to find it and the actions we take each moment to live the life elfin is the means for getting there. Still, it is equally true that need never search for Elfin. If you live your life as an elf, if you are of the spirit, no matter how far away you seem to be from Elfin, eventually, dear kin, Elfin will inevitably find you.
We Silver Elves know that there is a magical tradition that you don’t wish to reveal your true name to others who might use it to control you and cast spells upon you. This notion is sometimes applied to we elfae folk, warning people to never reveal their true names to us. We know we have spoken of this before but the question came up again, so we will consider it once more.
First of all, in many ways, this just sounds more like the world of men than our elvish realms. Men who are criminals particularly may not wish someone to know their true name but we elfae, for the most part (or at least those of us who understand the actual deeper meaning of our ‘true name’), are not concerned about it at all.
Second, when we tell the normal folk our elven names, they almost never remember them and they frequently distort them. Now, some of them might do this intentionally, which they discover is a very unwise thing to do because when it comes to distorting a person’s name to make fun of them, they are no match for we elven folk. However, most of them, just find our names so strange and ‘not normal’ that they unintentionally alter it to be more like their own understanding of names in the world. When one of us elfin tells his name ‘Zardoa’ to normal folk, they often think he is saying Cardoza, or Zardoz or Sardoa or some other variation of his name. We are not worried about them using our name to cast spells on us because they can neither pronounce nor remember our names most of the time. They just can’t seem to get it right and even if they do the first time, that’s it. It slips from their minds soon after.
And third and perhaps most importantly, as we’ve explained elsewhere in some of our The Silver Elves books, our true names are not our elven name, per se, for our true name is the sound that our vibrational being makes. And that is nearly impossible to pronounce and you’d need some sort of very refined and powerful listening and recording device to even hear it in the first place. It’s like our DNA, it is unique to us, although related to our kindred. However, in this case, not necessarily similar to those who share our genetic makeup but rather those who share and harmonize with our vibrational frequency. Could you use that vibrational name to influence us? Well, yes, possibly. You could certainly use it to identify us, just as fingerprints and DNA can identify us. However, how it would be used to control and manipulate us we’re not entirely sure. Certainly, the ancient magical traditions hold that if you get a strand or more of a person’s hair or some clippings from their fingernails (which is essentially the same as getting their DNA), that you can use that to cast spells upon them. So, there is that.
Magically, caring about each other makes us stronger, and our aura and our true names are secure in the safety of Elfin. It is true that there are those who can still threaten us or our loved ones to manipulate us. But that’s not magic, really, or it is magic in a very crude fashion. And the solution again, is community. We are protected magically, psychologically and physically by being part of the great ‘Elfin frasority’. The stronger our associations, the more powerful we become and though the wicked may know our true names, that is a magic that will, eventually transform them. For our true name is Love. And to harm love is to harm oneself and to try to control love is like grasping fire.

We Silver Elves are happy to announce the publication on January 8, 2026, of our newest tribal narrative book:
Dragons, Pixies, Dryads, Elves, Faeries and Otherkin Tribes: Myriads of Elfae is our sixth book in the series of elf, faerie, fae and otherkin tribes. Dragons, Pixies, Dryads, Elves, Faeries and Otherkin Tribes includes tribe narratives of Dragons, Pixies, Dryads, Elves, Faeries and a variety of many otherkin tribes including Merfolk, Naiads, Sprites, Sirens, Fauns, Pookas, Halflinks (Brownies), Gnomes, Sylphs, Boggarts, Trolls, Orges, Valkyries, Spirit Beings, Huldu Folk, Shining Ones, the Sidhe, Qilins, Liches and mixed Elfae tribes.
All of these are newly written narratives and are not found in the first five volumes in this series. Our first book in this series is composed strictly of Elf tribes; the second book in the series describes Faerie, Fae and Otherkin tribes; and the third, fourth and fifth books are comprised of Elves, Faerie, Fae and Otherkin tribes.
In these modern times we now abide, it is most important that the folk incarnated here from the Faerie realm have a strong magical narrative of their own in a world that often likes to tell us who we are and who we are not, and mostly quite inaccurately so. It is our hope that in reading the magical narratives contained in Dragons, Pixies, Dryads, Elves, Faeries and Otherkin Tribes that you will be inspired, our kindred brothers and sisters, to begin if you have not already done so to create your own narrative or add to what you already remember and intuit.
Since we Silver Elves have been living and sharing The Elven Way since 1978, many individuals have written to us that they felt that they were faerie, fae or other but didn’t know any more about their particular tribe. And for years, we told them that they should trust their imaginations and intuitions. And while that is still very good advice, we realized in time that this was not any easy thing to do for many of these kindred of ours who were often newly awakened and needed a bit of guidance upon the path. And so we created a survey to help us learn more about the individual’s understanding of their own magical nature so that we could help them in having a narrative of their own kin type.
The magical narratives we created and that compose this book are based upon the memories or intuitions and thus the responses that we were given by our elfaerie kindred to the survey we circulated about ones otherkinnature (the survey is included in this book in the introduction). We advertised and circulated the survey on Facebook and other social media including our two blog sites, and gifted those that participated with their kin type narrative. We Silver Elves would like to thank all those who participated in this survey and we truly loved their creative responses. Of course, we used our own imagination and intuition in putting their replies into a consistent whole, which was often a challenge but a challenge we very much enjoyed.
You will find as you read through the many narratives in this book that the tribes of dragons, pixies, dryads, elves, faeries and otherkinare beautifully varied in their magic, healing abilities, lifestyle, art, ancient ways, governance, love of nature, relationship to mankind, preferences, symbols and skills.
This book is divided into six main sections containing 112 tribe narratives in all. The first section being 16 tribes of Dragons, Pixies, and Dryads; the second section is composed of 44 tribes of Elves; the third section being 13 tribes of a variety of Faerie and Fae folk; the fourth section has 7 tribes of Merfolk, Naiads, Sprites, and Sirens; the fifth section has 14 tribes of Fauns, Pookas, Halflinks (Brownies), Gnomes, Sylphs, Boggarts, Trolls and Orges; and the last section has 18 tribes of Valkyries, Spirit Beings, Huldu Folk, Shining Ones, the Sidhe, Qilins, Liches, and some tribes with mixed Elfae. Perhaps, you will find your people in here, or kindred quite like them. If not, then you may wish to consult our other five volumes of over 600 more tribes of a variety of elfae and otherkin.
“These dragons are very close to the kitsune or nine-tailed fox folk and learned from them, long ago, how to shape shift into humanoid bodies. Also, they are not a clan or tribe but rather a mystical and magical order, somewhat like a magical lodge, or like the Franciscans are a religious order of the Catholic faith. So, these dragons are the Rathynli (pronounced: Ray – thin – lie) branch of the Otålowyn (Oh – tah – low – win) order. Also, known as the Ancient Mystical Order of the Dragons of the Nine Realms, which are nine realms of the Yggsdrasil tree of Norse lore upon which all beings reside, which in its way, might be compared to the Kabbala, if not in an exact association.”
“Like most mystical or magical orders, they have a hierarchal system for personal, magical and spiritual advancement and mastery. These are listed in the following fashion: the Oak level, the Hollyhock, the Lilac, Jasmine, Lotus, Elderberry and Foxglove. Prior to that there is a neophyte level, but they are not as yet counted as true members of their order. The Oak level indicates those who have made a solid commitment to the order and to their personal development. The Hollyhocks are learning the fundamentals of magic. The Lilac study the first level of glamourye, thus the ability to cast spells of visual transformation and illusion (some of these folk make their way in the world as stage magicians). The Jasmines learn the basics of enchantment, while the Lotus level emphasizes meditation and mystical communion with the otherworldly spheres. The Elderberries becomes masters of Daoism and the balance of the yin and yang energies. While the Foxgloves are the true masters of shapeshifting and can actually alter their bodily form not merely appear to do so. Of course, there is more to each level than we can go into here, but that is the basics.”
“Each level is signified to each other by wearing a patch or a piece of jewelry that resembles the plant or flower of their level. Overall, the order has no flag or banner but they do have an escutcheon that has a gray background, signifying the misty nature of their lives, with the Yggsdrasil tree or World Tree upon it, denoting the nine worlds, with Thor’s Hammer to the left, denoting their great powers and a white Raven to the right, which indicates their ability to see in the various realms and communicate with those realms.”
“In relationship to mankind and the normal folk, these folk are essentially a hidden folk and have as little to do with man as they can. Men are little more than ants as far as they are concerned, or perhaps termites or locusts, that are ever trying to destroy everything. But these dragons, not being bound to the material world, are not all that disturbed by that fact and assume, for the most part, that men will most likely and eventually bring about their own extinction. And if they don’t, well, good for them, at least they will have learned something. In the meantime, if men don’t interfere with these dragon folk, these folk are satisfied to just let men go about their business, as crazy as their business often seems to these dragons.”
“While these dragon folk learn all sorts of magic (at least, the fundamentals of nearly every type of magic) as they proceed in their basic education, they usually select a particular form of magic or a couple of forms to master beyond their essential mastery of shapeshifting itself. They might become adept necromancers and necromages, or pyromages and pyromancers, or enchanters and sorcerers or whatever combination appeals to them. Some study Norse magic combined with Chinese folk magic or other ethnic variations. It all depends upon the individual as they move away from formal classes into personal research and exploration.”
“Their familiars, if they choose to have any, are also very personal. However, there is a commonality to them, for nearly all of these familiars evidence leucistic genes, so that they are partially or all white or albino. They, like many of the aboriginal peoples in the world, understand the significance of these rare animals and their magical powers and often their connection to signs and prophecy, which these dragons are adept at reading and interpreting.”

“These dryads can usually be found in the forested mountains, away from mankind for the most part and usually along streams or rivers, sometimes near waterfalls, living in association with the White Birch trees and the Weeping Willows and the wood elves that also live among them (see our book Wood Elves). They are the Anåtidre (pronounced: A – nah – tie – dree) clan of the Lototåfae (Low – toe – tah – fae) tribe and they have had and continue to have a close relationship with the faerie folk since quite ancient times when they migrated with the Tuatha de Danann across southern Europe from the region of the Caucasus to Ireland and the British Isles.”
“Although they have a Queen, known to them as the Goddess Mother, who has a consort who wears horns as a crown and is known as the Horned One, these dryads tend to be loners overall. They each have their individual tree, usually a Birch or Willow, that they tend to, although sometimes their entire family tends to it, but they don’t do a great deal of socializing beyond being polite to their neighbors. Their Queen and her consort travel among them encouraging them in their lives. However, since there are so many of them, they seldom actually see her until she reaches their particular part of the forest.“
“They generally live away from mankind due to the fact that they live in the mountains and fewer men live there and because, as we said, they are loners. However, they are not hostile toward mankind or the normal folk overall and are quite willing to help those who do live in their region as long as they aren’t trying to cut down or harm their trees. They are adamant in the defense of their trees.”
“They do have a banner for their tribe, although they seldom bother to hang it. It has a blue background upon which there is triple moon, the sort of moon design popular among witches with a full moon and an outturned crescent moon on each side. The moon is in red, so a red moon indicating their active natures, and beneath it, in purple, there is wood elf script with the words: We Stand With Our Trees, which is their motto. This triple moon formation is also a quite popular tattoo among their people.”
“These dryads are frequently attended, especially the witches and other magic wielders among them, by crows and owls, who act as their familiars and assist them in their various magics. The crows, especially, are noted for bringing the Anåtidre items that they have found that these dryads can use in their spells. Although, they also take these items as signs and they divine the spells they will do based upon the objects that crows bring them.”
“The Anåtidre are famous for being a very beautiful people, although reclusive, who have a love of lovely things, especially art, and who are also rather cultured and educated. For them, the great magical treasures that they possess are not items, such as enchanted rings, swords, boots or other such objects but rather the ideals of beauty, fair play and their spiritual belief that all beings were created to perfect thems’elves and are an essential part of the great cosmic whole.”
“There are three clans in this tribe. The first is the Foxglove clan, which is the Anåtidre clan, who are, as we said above, a very beautiful but also a very feeling folk, which tends to make them introverted. Love, friendship and kinship are quite important to them but in a respectful way so everyone is given their ‘space’. Then there are the Forget Me Not folk, who are very relationship oriented, never forget a friend or lover, and are not the loners that these folk are. They enjoy being together in groups and are more extroverted in nature. And there are also the Queen Anne’s Lace clan who, first of all, love to wear lace, which is probably where the association came from. They are especially seen as being a lucky folk, primarily because beautiful people are often favored in society and they do tend to live further down the mountains and closer to mankind who are easily swayed by them just because of their beauty. They are great enchanters.”
TheArvåeri Fauns . . .
“These fauns can sometimes be found living in the deep rainforest, as far from mankind as they can get. They have had bad experiences with men and have ever since sought to avoid them as much as possible. They are the Arvåeri(pronounced: air – vah – ear – ree) clan of the Kymbaryn (kim – bare – ren) tribe and, like nearly all fauns, they grow antlers once they mature, have deer legs with humanoid upper bodies, but instead of deer ears, most of them have elf type ears and therefore they are sometimes called elf fauns.”
“They are very active in the body modification communities. They get piercings, have their tongue split in two sometimes, their ears elongated and have other modifications as well. Naturally, many of them get tattoos on their upper bodies. And some wear rings, like nose or earrings, along their Achilles tendon and often on their hooves.”
“There are numerous clans in their tribe, named after flowers for the most part. There is the Lily of the Valleys, The Snapdragons, the Lotus folk, the Ivy folk, the Spiders (named after spider plants) and the Aeonium or Tree Houseleeks. The Lily folk are noted for wearing bell-shaped hats, upside down, of course. The Snapdragons are a very colorful folk. the Lotus clan like to live on lakes and ponds in the midst of the forest. The Ivy people are the most mobile of them. The Spiders are a very prolific and hardy folk. And the Aeonium, instead of the rainforests, like to live in the deep deserts. This may seem strange but many of these elf fauns are a nomadic folk periodically traveling from their deep rain forests, to pine forests, to deserts and elsewhere. Mostly, this is an effort to always keep ahead of and away from men and the normal folk, but also, they do it because they just like to travel and adventure around. Part of their Druidic training is learning the ways of Nature in all its various regions, seasons and climes.”
“As magic wielders, they practice a form of Druidry that puts an emphasis on interaction with the air elementals. They also do weather working. Again, especially with the air. And aeromancy, which is divination through contact with the air spirits. They read the winds, the breezes, the hurricanes and the tornedoes. And, they can bring them forth if they wish, or need to do so, or calm them down.”
“Spiritually, like many elfae folk, they don’t have a religion they follow but they do honor Mother Earth as a great goddess and the mother of their people. She provides everything that they have and everything that they need and they see her as the living, breathing entity that she is and has always been.”
“They don’t really have leaders per se as a people. This is to say that they don’t have hereditary leaders or elected leaders. Instead, they have what they call Natural Leaders. Their way is to follow those among them who know what they are doing and what needs to be done in any particular instance. Their sense of this is instinctual rather than mental. If a disagreement arises among them, some of them will follow the faun they feel knows best and others will follow whomever seems to best know what to do in their eyes (or feelings really). They may split off for a while, but they often find each other again.”
“They also seem to have a great fondness for bonsai trees. So, in a certain sense, they carry their forests around with them wherever they go. They have what they call a Traveling Woodland that is composed of all their bonsais together. Sometimes, however, when the time is right, they will plant some of their trees where needed, while they begin to raise other trees. So, in that way, they are wandering tree planters as well. Also, due to this, they are related, you might say, to various trees and forests all over the world. So spiritually, their forests are widespread.”
“While their clans don’t really have flags or banners for the most part. Some of them do hang up banners that show different trees upon them. As for instance, they might display a banner with a fir tree on it one day only to have one of an elm another day, and a different type of tree altogether on the next after that, demonstrating that they don’t relate to just one tree but to many or nearly all trees.”

Are Oak, Ash and Hawthorne trees special to Elfae folk?
According to ancient British/Celtic lore the Oak, Ash and Hawthorne trees are particularly special or attractive to we elfae folk. This is especially so when they are found growing in groups together for they form a gateway or passage way into the supernatural world, which is to say, essentially, Faerie.
The Oak has often been referred to as the King of the Forest, for it is seen to symbolize strength, endurance, wisdom, and protection. In particular, the protective aspect of the strong when they use their powers to shield those who are weaker. The Oak was also noted for being sacred to the Druids. And the Druids, according the De Vere in The Dragon Legacy, were founded by we elven folk. Certainly, we had a close association with them. And as far as we Silver Elves are concerned the Celtic tribal peoples were often elfae folk.
The Ash tree is also thought to represent strength, but more importantly healing, the establishment of stability, and an as a tree that is especially connected to the divine. That is due, in great part, because the Norse World Tree or Yggdrasil represented the Nine worlds or nine dimensions of being. The ash was also noted to have apotropaic powers to ward off harmful spirits. Also, Ash was frequently the wood chosen for the crafting of wizards’ staffs, enchanters’ canes, magicians’ wands and witches’ brooms, as well.
The Hawthorne, has also been called the May tree. Its powers revolve around fertility, love, and safety for and protection thereof. We might note that being the May tree, it is linked to Beltaine when lovers often find each other. It has both lovely blossoms and sharp thorns rather like roses in that way and thus it indicates the fact that those beings that are beautiful and those things that are beautiful need to be protected. Hawthornes are sometimes referred to as ‘fairy trees’ and are seen to be protected by we elfae folk. Therefore, harming the Hawthorne or cutting it down is said to bring the wrath of we elfae upon the person and, in consequence, they will have bad luck thereafter. Also, it is said their blossoms shouldn’t be brought into one’s house, but that’s just because men used to believe it was an invitation to us elfae folk if the person did so. For our own part, we elfae would hang hawthorne blossoms on our doors to let our kindred know we were open to having company.
The truth is that while having these trees together is surely magical, to we elfin all trees are magical and every combination of trees is magical (see our book Wood Elves: Their Customs and Their Magic). The magic may differ with the different combinations, but still trees are magic and all of them are special to us (see our book An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid: The Ogham of the Elves Using Elvish Wizard Script). And as far as we elves are concerned the miscellaneous cutting down of trees brings bad luck to everyone. Although, particularly to those who had the ill grace to do it or order it done.
And because Oak, Ash and Hawthorne grow only in certain areas of the world, naturally, there would be other trees whose union would be significant in other parts of the globe. Just as there are more trees seen as being the World Tree than just the Ash. There is also the Ceiba tree in Mesoamerican, the Ashvattha or Indian banyan tree, the Mesopotamian Huluppu tree, and the Golden Poplar of Eurasia. So, too, surely there are tree groupings that are seen as significant in terms of Faerie, magic and the supernatural in other parts of the world.
We Silver Elves, for our own part, are incredibly fond of the Banyan tree and think it especially magical because the branches of the tree send down aerial roots that support them as they extend and these roots, in time, widen and appear to become their own trees, which makes the Banyan one tree that is also a family of trees. To we Silver Elves, that is a great and powerful magic and makes the Banyan tree a true faerie tree, for we elfae are one individually and one together. And that to us is a great magical power, the power of Elfin and Faerie and all of us unique and eccentric beings united in our individuality.
What do we Silver Elves think of the Oak King and Holly King?
In some faerie lore and even more often in modern novels in which Faerie or faeries have a part, there is sometimes the idea that there is a Winter Court and a Summer Court of the Faerie world. This is sometimes extended to include Spring Courts and Autumn Courts as well. Someone also came up with the idea of a Bohemian Court and we Silver Elves feel that if we did belong to an elfin or faerie court, it would surely be the free community of artists, poets and free thinkers that would compose a Bohemian Court.
Along with this idea is the notion that there is an Oak king and Holly king that also experience seasonal powers with the Holly king replacing the Oak king when summer approaches and the Oak king replacing the Holly king when winter comes. There are those who declare that these ideas where an invention created by Robert Graves in his book The White Goddess (which if you understand that work could just as easily be entitled The Elf Goddess). Although, you can find something of this same sort in the tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in Arthurian lore, which is centuries older than Grave’s work. In that story, the Green Knight is killed with the coming of winter but revives again. For when winter comes nearly all of Nature seems to die only to be born again in the spring.
Of course, what seems to have died really was only sleeping, awaiting the right moment to return. So, while Graves may have expanded or illuminated this idea of the Oak and Holly king seasonally replacing each other, we suspect it is a notion that is far older than he, and not his invention at all. He merely extrapolated from what already existed. There are many who decry his work for this, but we have always found it quite illuminating.
The essence of this idea of the rotation of life or of the seasonal courts of Faerie gaining and then losing ascendancy and vice versa is that life is continuous, that what seems like death and destruction is just part of the cycle of life and that everything in time is born again in its own season. Death is a process, not a thing unto itself. Death is a function of Life not its opposite, as those of Piscean Age understanding like to think as they are so prone to seeing life in terms of Black and White, Good and Evil and other dichotomies. But then, they are of the fifth subrace of the fifth root race and that is their propensity.
As the Aquarian Age evolves and the sixth subrace of the fifth root race rises into manifestation a more diverse understanding will gain ascendency. Not only Black and White but various hues of grays as well as a rainbow of possibilities. That is why, in part, we elfae folk, who are the sixth subrace emerging, are often referred to as the Rainbow Peoples or the People of the Rainbow.
And this is observable in Nature as well. The Oak tree doesn’t replace the Holly tree nor the other way around. Evergreens don’t replace deciduous trees when winter comes, they just become more prominent after the deciduous trees have shed their leaves after a glorious display of color. Winter doesn’t start and stop on a certain day when Spring suddenly comes and takes over. It is a gradual process usually with a great deal of give and take, ebbing and flowing and season within seasons. That’s why there is the existence, in some areas, of what is called Indian Summer, when the cooling weather becomes unseasonably warm for a period.
For our own part, we Silver Elves like the idea of an Oak King and a Holly King and a Monkey Paw King and a Palm Tree King and a Banyan King and a Magnolia Queen and a Bay Laurel Queen and much else. But then we are part of the Bohemian Court and artistic varieties are our delight. And also, we live on islands in the Uttermost West where there are only subtle differences between Summer and Winter anyway. A little cooler in the Winter, which can even get so cold for a few weeks that we need to close our windows at night and there is usually more rain and very hot for a few weeks in the summer. Which brings us again to the fact that life is varied and so are we. But then, we’re elves so we celebrate our uniqueness, eccentricities and our individualities. To the normal folk, being considered normal is a compliment. To we elfin folk, being considered normal is one of the worse things someone can say or think about us.

. . . . dear Kindred, if you enjoyed the article above about the relationship elves have with the trees, we think you may very much enjoy reading our most popularly read book on the wisdom teachings of the ancient Elven titled Through the Mists of Faerie:
—Excerpt from page 26 of Through The Mists of Faerie by The Silver Elves. “Elfin, Faerie, Elfland or the Sacred Realm or Dimension of Magic that lives at the heart of the Universe, is an incredibly attractive power. It draws all true souls to it. It calls to the Elfin nature in each and every soul. This is the power that arouses the imagination of those who see or read the Lord of the Rings and say, I’m an Elf or I’m a Dwarf, or even I’m an Orc. The power calls to us through Urban Fantasy stories and the fantasy novels of old, as well as, faery tales and movies of magic and enchantment. But it also calls to us from the trees, the wild places of Nature, and sometimes most of all from magic memories of our childhood, which is really our ancient past, our past incarnations, calling to us. It can also be aroused, and quite strongly, perhaps most strongly, by others of our kind manifesting in the world. There is something magical about these beings and they arouse our own hunger for magic in our own lives and souls. These Elfae radiate starlight. They glimmer with love, kindness and compassion; and they reach out and touch our souls. Some might suppose this to be a glamor, a magic they have wrapped thems’elves within to enchant us; but while they are truly enchanting, the magic arises from the fact that they are genuine and real. They don’t need to glamor us. They just need to be their very own s’elves, for that is the most impressive magic of all. They are not trying, they are simply being: being thems’elves, being elves.”
One of our favorite Banyans near our Eald (Elven Home)
Wood Elves: The Customs and Magic of the Sylvan Folk by The Silver Elves quote on the front cover: (“We Wood Elves see ours’elves as leaves growing on the World Tree, which float free in time, only to descend to the ground to nurture the Tree and be born again.”)
We Silver Elves happily announce the publication of our 82nd book titled Wood Elves: The Customs and Magic of the Sylvan Folk. Our 82 books are on elfin life and magic, elven oracles, our elven language Arvyndase, and living The Elven Way, and we know you will find Wood Elves both helpful reading on your path to manifest the magic of Elfin in your life. Please read more below about this 3rd in our series of The Silver Elves books on various kinds of elves (see Moon Elves: Their Customs and Their Magic and Star Elves: Their Customs and Their Magic for the 1st and 2nd in the series, there is no order in which these books need to be read).
In readingWOOD ELVES: The Customs and Magic of the Sylvan Folk, you will find discussed 180 various wood elf tribes (a chapter is devoted to each) of which there are numerous member clans and also often families of various clans. Many of the tribes have multiple clans; for instance, the Hackberry tree related tribe called the Lotåcanihas nearly 70 clans (and there are many tree tribes with even more clans). So, while we include the name of the tree or shrub, along with the tree tribe name and about its elven life, appearance, history, clan relationships and magic, we are unable to elaborate upon many of the clans for it would make this tome far too vast. However, the tribes and clans that we do illuminate are those who are best known among us. In Faerie and Elfin, diversity is a way of life. Nature loves diversity and so does the Divine Magic that created it all. And Faerie is ever evolving. New clans or tribes can pop up while others may disappear.
Trees, in many ways, are just plants that have grown into shrubs, some of which have extended through evolution to become trees. The Wood Elves associate, naturally, with trees but they also are linked to shrubs and plants. If you ask most Sylvan Folk what their favorite tree is, they will speak of a number or different trees; oaks, willows, pines, elms, birch, beech, and Japanese cherry blossom trees being especially beloved in our experience. However, they will also say, quite often, that they love all trees. Which is true of most wood elves. We wood elves also love all plants and shrubs as well. Still, Wood Elves do tend to associate with certain trees, if only because those are the trees they often live under, in, among and with. Trees and shrubs to Sylvan Elves are familiars. Just as witches are noted for having cats as familiars (although we’ve known witches who had snakes as familiars and one who had a tarantula, so having a cat as a familiar is just a generalized association and not necessarily true of all witches, obviously). So, Wood Elves carry out their magic in relationship to the trees with whom they have a close association and friendship. And, in speaking of various Wood Elves, we will be looking at them in terms of their tree and sometimes shrub relationships, for this deeply affects their lives and their magic.
While most elven folk, and this includes wood elves, are not religious, we do tend to be a spiritual people and many wood elves associate with the various spirits or deities of the forests. These include the Green Man, Herne, Cernunnos and many others including the Greek goddess Artemis, Faunus of the Romans, the Leshy of Slavic lore, and the Finnish Mielikki. We don’t go into these in this work, for even in a particular tribe or clan, it is still up to the individual elf to decide which spirits, or Shining Ones, with whom they wish to have a relationship. Spiritual development and magical association are very personal matters among all of we elven folk who tend to be both eccentric and eclectic. (If you would like to read more on the various shining ones and deities related to the trees see our book An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid.)
You may also note that numerous trees are considered to be the World Tree and others to be the Tree of Life (see our book The Elven Tree of Life Eternal: A Magical Quest for One’s True S’elf) or the tree that Buddha sat under to receive enlightenment. Trees are magic as these wood folk know.
In the book you will also find a chapter with a Wood Elf Name game generator that we Silver Elves have made for you to find your wood elf name (of course it may be used just for fun!). And also do take a look at one of the last chapters in the book that has a Wood Elf Script for you to use in writing your wood elf tribe and name and any messages that you may wish to use in your forest magic. We Silver Elves know that other many wood elves also love to paint magic rocks and leave them in the forest, and to do so the Wood Elf Script is perfect for using to inscribe your magic wishes.
We Silver Elves hope you enjoy reading this book about the many and various wood elf tribes and clans, and will find those wood elves to whom you are kin.
Fardas Lovur Tae Lan (Arvyndase for “Dancing Toward the Dawn”), The Silver Elves
Please scroll down below and enjoy reading the first three chapters from Wood Elves. The tree or shrub the tribe is related to is the name of the chapter and it is followed by the name of the tribe and description.
First three chapters from Wood Elves (there are 180 chapters in this book, one chapter for each wood elf tree tribe):
“Chapter 1. Viburnum”
“Wood Elf Tribe: Renarwi (pronounced: re – nair -why)”
“The Renarwi are attached to Viburnum plants and shrubs, which often have green leaves with white flowers. However, at least one clan has red leaves. Their banner reflects this with the image of the plant or flower or leaf, or sometimes the berries or drupes, depending upon the particular clan, usually upon a dark green background (again, that will vary according to the particular clan). And there are from 150 to 175 varieties, so there are many clans of this tribe or perhaps even a small nation.”
“Like the plant with which they associate, these wood elves tend to live on the ground, rather than up in the trees as some wood elves do and many of them have homes that are, at least in part, underground, which is to say they will have basements or tunnels under their abodes and these tunnels are usually interconnected so that the elves never have to go outdoors to get to another’s house unless they desire to do so.”
“Of course, they live among the shrubs and herbaceous plants that they love. Often, as a means of camouflage, if they do live above ground, they will paint their houses to look like the plants or shrubs that surround them. They just blend in with the rest of the forest or woodland where they abide.”
“They are, for the most part, a gentle people who mostly mind their own business and do their magic, which consists primarily of purifying and clearing the atmosphere of the Earth and helping to feed the hungry. In the modern world, they are frequently found assisting the homeless, the refugee or working for other charities. Their magic is almost entirely of the healing variety and they are often knowledgeable concerning herbs as ingredients for healing potions. They lead simple lives, all and all, and in that way, are rather like Tolkien’s idea of Hobbits. They enjoy a good, humble life with close friends, nutritious food and comfortable and pleasant surroundings and they think that everyone should have the means and opportunity to have such a life as well.”
“Most people don’t consider them to be important people. However, this is just fine with these wood elves who prefer a cozy fire, a cup of hot tea or coffee and a good book to read to being famous in the world. What they do for others is out of the generosity of their hearts and not done for any personal gain, other than the grace one is granted by the Divine Magic for being a decent human being and by Elfin for being a kind and sweet elf.”
“There are about 20 to 30 clans of the Taaldari tribe. The Elderberry tree is really a large shrub. But that counts as a tree for these wood folk. Like most sylvan folk, they dress primarily in green clothes although, red and deep purple are popular accents for their attire, while some will complement their attire with white or yellow.”
“These folk, along with the Rowan elves, have a deeply protective magic and are noted for warding off dark or intrusive, aggressive magical spells. Therefore, they are a warrior people, but especially those sorts involved in defensive battle magic. They are the ‘karate is for s’elf defense only’ type of people. These are some of the wood elves most noted for using elf darts, which are also traditionally known as elf arrows, that they used to shoot at intruders from hiding using blowguns or small bows.”
“Growing Elder trees near one’s home helps protect one from wicked magic and wicked spells. One is less likely therefore to fall for the propaganda of individuals seeking to promote hate, intolerance and disinformation, if one is protected by the magic of these wood elves.”
“They are also a deeply mystical people, who interact through the astral realms to cast their spells of protection around their loved ones, thems’elves, and all innocent individuals. In the modern world, they are very hard at work seeking to protect the Earth and the wild creatures upon the Earth. You will commonly find them striving to save the whales, the wolves and other of Nature’s creatures, as well as working against the extinction of various rare species or species that have become rare through man’s predations.”
“In some ways, however, they may be most famous for their fermentation of elderberries into wine. They customarily bring bottles of elderberry wine as gifts when they visit friends or give it as a gift to newcomers in the neighborhood. This giving of wine is often associated magically with both healing and prosperity. And these wood elves are generally viewed as being a healthy and prosperous people who share their abundance freely with all those who are kind to them. Thus, living near elderberry trees/shrubs mystically improves one’s chances of increasing their wealth and improving their health.”
“These wood elves can be found living in North and South America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. In some places, you will find these wood elves having badgers as companions. In ancient times, these badgers would fight alongside of these wood elves if they were forced to go into battle due to the incursions of mankind.”
“There are fifteen primary clans in this tribe with over 100 sub-clans or bands that are composed of over 2,000 families altogether. They are rather known for having aeolian harps in their trees, which are played by the wind and often give off this eerie sort of song or music that is often associated with we elven folk.”
“While there are quite a few of them, they are a close-knit family. However, you need to understand that we elves, especially, consider every one of our kin and friends to be family. These elven are an ancient folk going back to prehistoric times although, like most wood elf peoples, they are less widely distributed than they once were. This, of course, was before mankind came and began cutting down the forests to clear the land for their farms, cities and so forth, as well as viewing the forest as merely a resource to be used with no consciousness of the life or intelligence of the trees.”
“These wood elves are a somewhat fancy group and they love to dress up. It is seldom that one sees these wood elves when they are not dressed to the ‘nines’. Some people think that they spend all their lives and waking hours wearing formal wear, but that is not quite true. Still, fashion is rather important to them. And they are known to change their clothes styles frequently. They are also somewhat season oriented and will change the style of their dress from one season to another. In that way, they are rather similar to ‘high society’ among men. But then, high society among men are often actually elfae folk of some sort, just as the word ‘gentleman’ is really a euphemism for an elfae person and the term Gentry was used in the past to refer to we elfin faerie folk.”
“They are also noted for having great teeth and wonderful dental health and, in fact, many of them in the modern world work as dentists or dental hygienists. They are frequently at the forefront of research involving dental health. Some are working on ways to trigger the growth of a third set of teeth.”
“Their magic emphasizes endurance, adaptation, transformation and strength. They have survived through the long ages due to their magic and they will continue to use it in order to continue on in the modern world. However, note that the sweetgum balls are sometimes referred to as ‘Witches Burrs’ or ‘Witches Balls’ and are used as part of their protective magic as well. This Witch Ball is also worn by some of them in the form of jewelry, often covered by gold or silver, by which they declare their ancestry, their tribe and the fact that they will not put up with anyone imposing themselves upon them.”
“Among their warriors, they also use a weapon that is similar to the Witch Burr, it is a pointed ball on the end of a chain or rope that they swing around and send forth toward their opponent, similar in some ways to a ‘morning-star’, which they may have inspired. No matter where the Witch Burr lands, it will stick, prick or penetrate.”

We Silver Elves would be happy to gift you with a short narrative about your specific Elfae or Otherkin type of magic. Please first let us know a little about you by choosing one answer from each of the ten questions below. If you feel you don’t know, just pick what feels best to you or choose the first thing that comes to your mind or appeals to you (please just choose one under each question). Trust you intuition. If your choice is ‘other’, please specify what that other is. Add anything that you think is relevant to your magical life. (For those of you who have already been gifted our ‘What Kind of Elf or Other Fae Are You’ narrative, this narrative will be more about the type of magic that you do than your kin type and will most likely complement your Kin Type narrative.)
Please email your answers to silverelves@live.com with “magic type” in the subject line. We will email you back with your magic type narrative within 2 to 4 weeks.
(This is not an automatic response questionnaire. When you are done you will not get some already formulated reply. We need you to send your answers to the questions to our email address at silverelves@live.com and we will examine what you have said and do our best to aid you in this quest. (Photo above is of Silver Flame of The Silver Elves sitting and talking with one of her favorite trees in Makaha, Hawaii)
Some people say that trees that stand alone are very special, perhaps sacred, to we elfae folk and this is surely true. However, we should add that nearly all trees are special to we elven peoples, every grove, woodland, forest, jungle, holt, greenwood, boscage, and hedgerow are all special to us as well. Also, the wildflowers, the garden flowers, the plants on the hillside and nearly every other growing thing that Nature has so kindly gifted us.
So, yes, a tree that stands alone is special to us. But it is particularly special because often it is a survivor. It continues to stand when others of its kin have perished. Although, if we had our way, it would not stand alone but have all its kindred around it. For we elves much prefer forests and woodlands and bunches of trees all communing in their meditative way than trees alone. Or being alone ours’elves, at least that is the case with most of us elfin folk.
And the fact that so many trees are gone from the Earth is not only evidence of mankind’s folly, since his life depends upon the oxygen the trees produce, but also the advanced nature of the trees, many of whom have evolved to the point where they no longer need to manifest in material bodies and have moved on to ethereal manifestation. They have become the trees of Elfin and Faerie, or the parts of Elfin and Faerie that are etheric in Nature to which our realms, the realms of Elfin and Faerie that we are manifesting upon the Earth and, perhaps out in the stars, are linked.
We elves generally favor the underdog. We support the oppressed and rally for those who are abused and neglected and yet still struggling. Therefore, a tree alone is definitely admirable to us, not because it is alone but because it has endured and continues to endure without its kindred and support network. Our wish is always that a tree alone will plant seeds so others will join it. In just this way, we love the ‘weed’ growing up through the cracks in the sidewalk and hope that others will gather around it as well. We elves, for the most part, are not fond of being alone. And in our experience, most of those elfae who say they are loners do so because they are surrounded by the normal folk and haven’t, as yet, found those who are kindred to them. We expect that the trees are similar in nature and wouldn’t be alone, in most cases, if circumstances didn’t cause them to be so.
So, again, it is not their aloneness that we find special but their pure beingness. Our wish wouldn’t be for there to be more ‘stand-alone’ trees but more woods, more forests, more groves and other gatherings of an arboreal nature. Create more arboretums. Let the rainforests live and expand. Make our cities forests and cover the Earth, as much as possible, with trees, for that is the Elven Way.
As to being sacred, the same logic applies. We elves are not generally a religious people but we do believe in the Divine Magic, which is to say the essential and fundamental sacredness and perfection that exists in potential of all beings whatsoever waiting to be realized or made real and actual, which is to say manifested in this world.
It is true that some beings, perhaps most of us, have not as yet obtained the perfection of being that is our destiny. However, that is not really true of most of the trees. They are high spiritual beings, many of them having obtained much greater longevity than we have as yet, and who are supportive of us and very meditative and tranquil in Nature. The fact that so many people fail to see how advanced most of them are in comparison to us, is only to say that the trees are also, as it turns out, older, wiser and more evolved than we. We need them but they don’t really need us.
If the trees abandon us as a species, we are pretty much done, at least on this planet. While if we perished, they would just continue on. Still, in terms of we elfae folk, if the trees utterly left the Earth, we would surely do so ours’elves following after them to other planets or back to the ethereal realms and await the time when we could once again try our hand at manifesting Elfin and Faerie upon the Earth and among the Stars.

“We elves don’t always remember our past lives in Elfin, but we ever feel them in the depths of our souls.”
Many people ask us which of our 80+ The Silver Elves books on Elven Philosophy and Magic and The Elven Way to begin reading first and so we say, which ever sounds right to you, follow your elven intuition, as there is really no right order! You may wish to visit our Sample Our Books page on our Silver Elves website and read through the excerpts on each book. But if you would like a suggestion, you may wish to begin with one or more of these four books: 1. Through The Mists Of Faerie: A Magical Guide to the Wisdom Teachings of the Ancient Elven This is our most popular book and one we highly recommend reading by anyone interested in elves, elven magic, elven lifestyle, elven awakening and the Elven Way.
2. The Elven Way:The Magical Path of the Shining Ones This is a companion book to Through the Mists of Faerie, but may be read in any order. It is also a very popular book and a good one to start with.
“The Elven Way passes beyond the fields of the known into the forest of the unknown illuminated by the glow of the elves.” (From the cover below)
3. The Book of Elven Runes: A Passage Into Faerie This is not the Norse Runes but our own original elven rune divination system. It consists of 40 runes. The book is 130 pages with photos and illustrations that feature each rune and explain the rune system, how to make your own set of runes (runestones not included), and the interpretation for each of the runes.
If you have questions about The Elven Way and being an elf, then you may also wish to read The Magical Realms of Elfin: Answers to Questions About Being an Elf and Following the Elven Path. If you are curious about elves and want to learn more about modern elves, then you will surely find The Magical Realms of Elfin to contain many of your questions answered and it will be a great comfort and help in finding your way home to the magical realms of Elfin.
“In a forest not far ‘way, we elves begin another day and as we move with simple grace, we call to mind your lovely face.” — The Silver Elves
And now for a bit of elven fun!
We invite you to come to our website and enter our elven forest and go through the Elven Tree of Life Eternal to explore your magical nature (it’s free and completely private). It is set up somewhat like a choose your own adventure book and a fun way to explore your specific magic while all roads lead to Elfin. Then return to “the Eald of the Silver Elves home page” at any time you wish by clicking the “home page” link at the top of any page you happen to be on. You may enjoy other pages on our website including reading some of our Magical Elven Love Letters or taking our Elf, Fae or Otherkin Survey and we will happily gift you a beautiful narrative about your magical tribe (this is not an automatic response but instead is especially written for you based on your responses and our own elven intuition).
You also may enjoy reading our newest published book ELVEN COURTESIES: Comments and Polite Expressions—Simple Phrases and Philosophical Insights from Elven Culture. It is a book filled with various elven expressions, sayings and adages with their simple Arvyndase translations (the magical language of The Silver Elves). However, while we have Arvyndase in this book and sometimes provide notes about its usage, this is not primarily a book about our elven language. Rather it is, like most of our The Silver Elves books, a book of philosophy concerning elven culture and a glimpse into the elven point of view as we gaze upon and encounter the worlds both normal and supernatural. Elven Courtesies has over 200 expressions for communication in eight chapters, which include: Elven Greetings; Starlight Salutations; Elven Blessings and Well Wishes; Elvish Phrases for Practical and Mundane Life; Elven Expressions for Introductions; Miscellaneous Elven Expressions; and Advice, Adages and Admonitions of the Faerie Folk. To read more on this book and also enjoy reading some excerpts of Elven Courtesies, click here!

Here below is a 7 day meditation on the 7 pointed Elven Star. We Silver Elves began this meditation in 1986 “Opening the Gateway to Faerie” and have ever since been doing it at least once a year around this time of year. We invite you to join us, dear Kindred, in doing this meditation, as we will begin Day One with a meditation for Point One on this Friday October 3rd (if you are seeing this after that date, still please do join us in beginning your meditation any day of the year), and proceed each day for a week with a meditation until all 7 points are complete. You can see that it is a meditation on each ray and the goal is for the healing of the Elfae people and of Mother Earth (Gaia). And here is an over all mantra spell for the seven days:
Elven Star spell:
“By the Elf Star the Earth is healed
And to our magic all do yield.”
(and in Arvyndase)
“La tae Êlda Mêl tae Eldanil da hyrnïn
Nar va eli’na êldon wyl ba ped.”
(Pronunciation)
Lah tay L – dah Mell tay Eel – day – nile dah herne – in
Nair vah e – lie’nah l – doan will bah peed.
