It’s important to take a moment and taste the beautiful things in life.

Catching up
July 26, 2011Hai HAI! – as Winslow would say. I keep thinking about posting, even come up with posts in my little brain, and then am surprised that I actually haven’t.
I’m social media overloaded. In my personal life and professional life. I manage the social media for one account and am building the strategy for another. They want to use LinkedIn. Really? Who uses that for anything but looking for a job? So now I have to go figure out what else to do with it besides post a bio, an old head shot and click “accept requests,” which is the extent of my usage.
BSG is going home with me in October to meet the family. Should be a great time. We want to catch a football game (MSU-Wisconsin) but tickets may be hard to come by. Single game tix go on sale next Sunday night. If not, at least the Lions will be playing that weekend. Those tickets are pretty easy to get. Not worried about that game being a sell-out.
We’re also talking about taking a trip to Patagonia so he can go fly fishing. While he fishes, I might sit on shore, read a book, take in the scenery and drink wine. He’d only fish a day or two and then we’d be off doing other fun things. That wouldn’t happen for another year or so as we’ll need to save up lots o’ $$$. But now it’s all I can think about.
I posted about it on FB and some joker from way back when made a crack about how it could make for a great honeymoon. He’s a nice guy, really. But seriously? My family doesn’t even bring that up with me. They know my first go -round was pretty shitty so they don’t even bother bothering me. Eh, no biggie.
While I’m on the subject of BSG, here’s us at a pool party last weekend. We had just talked about getting into our swimsuits and joining the water volleyball game.
BSG: “I thought you were changing?”
Me: “I thought you loved me the way I am?”
BSG: “Crazy?”
Ha!
He and Sailor Babo made it back from the Colorado adventure but the photos are in his friend’s camera. Long story short, BSG is lucky to be home in one piece. It was rough going. Sailor Babo was in charge of protecting the base camp from marmot, skwerls and the local mountain goat. Probably for the best as there was a chance of him getting stuck somewhere at 14,000 feet. There are photos of Babo making the hike to the camp, though. Or so I’m told.
That’s about it for now. Gotta run.
Big hugs all around!

Winslow Speaks
July 14, 2011Not sure if thhis will work, but here’s an audio recording of Mr. Winslow. I played it back to him and his tail got all puffy. No one likes how they sound on tape.
Sleepy guy time
July 13, 2011All-Star Game on the TV (I should bought tix!!). Winslow chilling on the back of the couch. BSG crashed out asleep with his head on my lap. Which is kind of sweet, except for the drooling.
Blogthings!
July 12, 2011Remember way back when on Vox when we all did the crazy random quizzes all the time?
Maybe some of you still visit, but today was the first time in a while. Today’s quiz- what punctuation mark are you?
I’m a comma! Okay – who’s a question mark?
You are open minded and extremely optimistic.
You enjoy almost all facets of life. You can find the good in almost anything.
You keep yourself busy with tons of friends, activities, and interests.
You find it hard to turn down an opportunity, even if you are pressed for time.
Your friends find you fascinating, charming, and easy to talk to.
(But with so many competing interests, you friends do feel like you hardly have time for them.)
You excel in: Inspiring people
You get along best with: The Question Mark
I used to think
July 9, 2011That Elvis was really spoiled.
Then Winslow came along. He makes me feel like I had been the strictest cat mom ever.
But then Elvis never had a desire to jump on any flat surfaces. Except for the piano bench because that’s where I was.
When I moved the cedar chest to the foot of the bed, Elvis wiped out as he made his usual run and jump. Totally freaked at the sight of a large wooden piece of furniture in his way to the soft spots.
Winslow jumps up on anything at will. And I let him.
Winslow also jumped on my lap when I made a donation to his shelter in memory of Elvis. Today marks two years since I said goodbye to my best friend.
It still hurts. But Winslow has brought fun, joy and love back in the building. He and BSG are thick as thieves. They make my heart happy.
RIP, Elvis. Thank you for teaching me how to be a good cat mom.
