Once again, my WP blog has been hacked.
Sigh.
I changed the password again. I changed my Yahoo password again. WP is not letting me disable the posting by email feature.
Which leaves me to say only – WTF?
And sorry, everybody.

Hooray for peeps! In today’s mail was this fab “split-decision” pie pan from Laurie! Thank you! Now I’ll have to bake something 🙂
I’ve also received from mail for February mail month. I’ve written out a bunch of postcards. My little post office outpost doesn’t stock postcard stamps. The nerve!
So I’ll have to mail order stamps, which takes longer than you would think.
It will be interesting to see if the photo shows up. It’s all in code right now. Time to post and see.
Tonight I sent in Gram’s information to the Michigan State alumni magazine. As I was typing, I noticed the stack of histories that MomH sent me earlier in the week.
When Gramps was getting really sick, they decided to write down their memories, both their own and of their life together. What an amazing gift they’ve left us.
I flipped through the pages and found this bit from Gram about her time at MSU. The alumni mag editors may not do anything with it, but I sent it to them anyway:
“When I entered Michigan State (1931), it was a college. I had the chance to live in the first new women’s dormitory. The Women’s Building was the only other women’s dorm before this. The new dorm was Mary Mayo Hall.Â
Girls had hours to keep. Freshmen had to be in the dorm by 8:45 p.m on week nights and 12:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The boys didn’t have hours. We had to sign in when we went out in the evening. If we were 15 minutes late we had to stay in one weekend night.
Freshmen boys wore beanies. Sometimes when walking to class an upper classman could dunk them in the Red Cedar.
We had tea dances every Friday afternoon at the Union building. Winter term all parties were formal. Boys wore tuxes and girls wore formals with long gloves. That was a fun time.
Michigan State beat Michigan in 1934. I took some sorority girls to Ann Arbor to that game. Years later I found out that Gerald Ford played in that game for Michigan. That was one of the few times we beat Michigan.
There were only 500 in my graduating class in 1935. So many left school because of the Depression. I got a job teaching in Fairgrove. That was in the Thumb of Michigan. It was the top wheat-growing area in Michigan. That year the top grower at the Chicago International was from Fairgrove. At least teaching in a farming community was fun. I got $100 a month.”
I’d type more but I have have pages of family history to read. 🙂
My cousin-in-law Karen is a finalist in Frito-Lay’s “Do Us a Flavor” contest. w00t! Hers was one of three potential flavors of new potato chips. She was on Good Morning America yesterday and I think she was there to help ring the bell for the New York Stock Exchange.
Her chip flavor is Cheesy Garlic Bread. If her flavor wins, she gets $1 million or 1% of sales, whichever is greater. If not, she still walks away with $50k. How exciting! That goes a long way up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin! And to help put the kids through college.
So, whether you eat chips or not (I don’t, but I’ll give these a whirl), you can vote on the Lay’s Facebook page for the contest, texting “VOTE” to 24477, or using the Twitter hashtag #SaveGarlicBread.
The other two flavors are Chicken & Waffles and Sriracha. But those suck. Just sayin’.
Snail Mail – I see Laou sent out a note about this. I’m going to use last year’s list and try to send maybe a card out a week. My address has not changed and if you send me something, I’ll send you something back!(LT – a package for you shipped today. Sit by the mailbox and wait! It’s awesome!)
Cat v Man – As predicted Winslow won the battle on toilet training. We’re back to the litter box, to the relief of both the cat and me, and to much sadness and disappointment for BSG.
Cat v Woman – For some reason, Winslow has developed a pattern of spraying not only on my stuff, but also of doing it right in front of me, staring at me the whole time like a big “F U!” Whaaa? I feed him, I play with him, I love on him, and that? Do I deserve it? No. No, I do not. He also gets his faced rubbed in it when I finally catch up with him. Stinker.
Travels on Tap – Headed to Spain in March with Miss K to visit her/our friends who were previously stationed in Rio. Going to Barcelona, then Rota/Cadiz to stay with them, then Seville and back. I’ll need to figure out how to say SUPER FUN! in Espanol.
The Non-Laws – BSG”s parents spent the past weekend with us. Kind-hearted souls with poor hearing and desire to not be a bother. It was really nice when they left. Ahhh.
Getting Back In Shape – Nothing new to report. Same as I ever was.
In Closing – Sending lots of love to you all for Valentine’s Day!
