It's been so wonderful to hear everyone's stories on my Christmas Question post. While I started with a simple question of "Christmas Eve v. Christmas Day", the most answers carried the same theme: Christmas is about being with loved ones and finding time to spend it with them.
So to all my wonderful peeps - I wish you the happiest of holidays, whenever, wherever (and whatever!) you choose to celebrate.

I just came back from the post office to mail a special little pre-holiday gift to The Lovely BrownAmazon.
A select couple of you know what it is, so you better not tell!!! >:-(
Anyway, a guy being helped felt like he wasn't being helped at all. I think he had other issues and was taking it out on the postal employees. Dude, chill the eff out. It's going to be a long season for him and if this is a harbinger of things to come, for the post office peeps as well. I'm sure they are all looking forward to dealing with all sorts of harried and hassled members of the public.
So here are AmyH's Holiday Shipping Tips:
1. Be patient. Getting your panties in a bunch just makes you uncomfortable and does nothing to help move the process along faster.
2. Be ready to wait and do as much as possible ahead of time. Check out the US Postal Service website for handy tips and tools.
3. If you send international, you will have to fill out a customs declaration tag. I grabbed a few so I can fill out my German relatives' packages ahead of time.
4. Don't grab one of the handy "Priority Mail" mailers unless you absolutely have to get something somewhere fast. BrownA's gift cost almost as much as it did to ship. If I put it in my own packaging and sent it First Class, it would have been mucho cheaper. But that's okay. As long as she appreciates it.
Ha! Just kidding! It was a lesson learned to be shared with others.

I'm wishing all teh peeps a safe and enjoyable long weekend (for the US peeps) and of course, a safe and enjoyable weekend for everyone no matter where you are.
I'm headed to Northern Arizona for some camping in the cool pines, away from the desert heat (99 today, whee!). I have a stack of books from the library and I'm ready to park myself under a tree. This has been a Memorial Day Weekend annual trip for the last few years for myself and a group of friends. I've been looking forward to it for a while.
If I wasn't camping, a weekend at the beach would be most lovely.
This cow is hanging out at the shore on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She has it rough, eh?
