Fog Of War

When statements blatantly contradict each other or when they make absolutely no sense, it is usually a sign that someone is lying, and nowhere are lies told as much as in war or before war.
On the one hand, it is a matter of motivating one’s own side by professing to be fighting for a noble cause; on the other hand, the alleged reason for war can make a big difference in terms of the political instruments available for waging war.

When President Trump threatened Venezuela with military action because of drugs originating in Venezuela or because of illegal immigrants from that country, it quickly became clear to me that this was pure bullshit.

The southern US border was closed and virtually no illegal immigrants and therefore no drugs were coming across the border, and all drug smugglers’ boats were blown out of the water by the US military.
None of this made any sense.

When Maduro’s presidency was ended by the US military, it became clear what this was really about.
Yes, it was also about ending the brutal oppression of the population, but that was only a secondary aspect.
The main concern was to expel hostile powers such as Iran and Hezbollah and to end China’s influence and control over oil, which was an important part of China’s energy supply.
It is to Donald Trump’s credit that, once Maduro was replaced by a less tyrannical president who was willing to cooperate, he spoke brutally open about the purpose of the whole exercise.

Despite the bullshit that President Trump has said in this case, I still consider him a great man, even one of the most significant figures in American history.
You don’t have to be perfect to be a great person, and we can recognize a person’s greatness despite all their flaws.

One of Trump’s greatest strengths is his unpredictability, which has often served him well.
However, it is also his greatest weakness, as it forces him to conceal his intentions not only from his enemies, but also from his voters and supporters.
As long as he enjoys their trust, this is not a major problem, but when he refuses to make sensible statements on issues that are important to them, he has a problem, because where information is lacking, the void is quickly filled with rumors, insinuations, and wild conspiracy theories without any evidence, often spread by actors with malicious intentions.

Carl von Clausewitz, one of the most famous military theorists alongside Sun Tzu, once said: “War is merely the continuation of politics by other means.”
However, one could also say that politics is often war by other means.
We all know that the rules of war are brutal and unforgiving. In order to not only survive war, but also to prevail, one must be resourceful, cunning, and, yes, even deceitful.

Trump has all these Odyssean qualities, and like Odysseus, he must pay a price for utilizing them in his battle against his geopolitical enemies.
When Odysseus, the hero of Homer’s epic, returns to his homeland of Ithaca, he is disguised as a beggar and must deceive his son Telemachus and even his wife Penelope, because if his cover were blown, the 108 suitors who had tried to murder his son would surely kill him.
In a heartbreaking twist, his faithful dog Argus, who had waited 20 years for his master’s return, recognizes Odysseus, but Odysseus must pretend not to know the dog. Poor Argus dies of a broken heart.

The price President Trump has to pay is that part of the MAGA movement is confused, distrusts him, and suspects him of betraying his campaign promises.
To be clear, not everything Donald Trump does is 4D chess. Sometimes it’s just human error and folly.
However, I don’t believe for a second in the nonsensical theories peddled by an evil, demon-possessed piece of shit like Candace Owens, a Tucker Carlson who has lost all common sense and respect for impartial, objective truth, or a Nazi beta male like Nick Fuentes.
The thing these three have in common is a pathological obsession and hatred of Jews that clouds their thinking and makes them blind and stupid.
You want to criticize Israel, Jews, or Zionism? Have at it!
I have no problem with that, as long as you base your criticism on objective truth and not on some demonically inspired, easily refutable lies or abysmally stupid logic.

When these three idiots claim that Donald Trump is a puppet of the Jews/Zionists/Israel/Netanyahu, they are willfully ignoring the facts.
Trump is undoubtedly a friend of Israel, but he is nobody’s puppet.
The proof?
Trump ended the war in Gaza against Netanyahu’s will and pushed through a peace solution that effectively lays the groundwork for a two-state solution, something Netanyahu has always rejected.
When Israel was unable to end the 12-day war against Iran, Trump launched Operation Midnight Hammer, the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, and forced Netanyahu to end Israel’s war against Iran.
A visibly pissed and brutally frank Donald Trump made unmistakably clear who’s boss when Israel broke its ceasefire agreement with Iran.

Then there’s Tucker and, sadly, many other respected and otherwise intelligent people in the MAGA movement who somehow become complete idiots when it comes to Israel, claiming that the US is merely promoting the “Greater Israel Project” on behalf of the Zionist lobby, the Jews, or Israel.
Do these idiots ever think about what they are saying?
Well, let’s think this through!
The “Greater Israel Project” is supposedly the project to create an Israel that includes all or parts of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
Even if we grant that such a project existed and enjoyed broad support in Israel, how the hell is a country with a tiny population of 10 million and a small standing army supposed to occupy such a vast territory with a population far larger than Israel’s?
This is absolutely ridiculous and insane.

America is at war with Iran, and none of the reasons given for this war make sense.
It is ridiculous when Rubio claims that the US attacked Iran because Israel was about to attack Iran, and that this would have triggered Iranian attacks on US military bases and interests in the region.
The US would only have to ask Israel to stop, as Israel cannot attack without the green light from the US because it is heavily dependent on US support.
Neither is Donald Trump being truthful when he claims that the US forced Israel’s hand or that Iran was preparing an attack.
The mullahs are fanatics, but they are not stupid. Why would they attack such a vastly more powerful enemy?
No reasonable reasons are given.

It is precisely this lack of sensible reasons for the outbreak of war that leads to all kinds of speculation and crazy theories.
Those who reflexively hate Jews try to link everything bad that happens to the Jews.
Israel benefits from the war, so it must have been the Jewish lobby that forced Trump to do it, right?
Wrong!
They deliberately ignore the totality of the facts.
Israel is not the only one benefiting from the war; the Sunni countries in the region are also benefiting.
As for the much-vaunted Jewish-Zionist lobby and groups like AIPAC, they are a joke compared to the influence of Sunni Muslims in terms of the amounts of money they spend in the US. And that’s not even counting the trillions of dollars in investments that Arab states have committed to.

President Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to be remembered as a peace president.
He has forged peace between Israel and Sunni Muslim countries on the basis of “Let’s stop killing each other and let’s make a ton of money together” and on the basis that the common enemy of the Sunnis and Israel is Iran.
Peace in the Middle East is only possible if Iran is prevented from destabilizing the region and spreading terror throughout the region.
The only way to achieve this is to significantly weaken the Iranian military and the power of the mullah regime.

“The fog of war” usually refers to the chaos and uncertainty of battle.
However, there is another fog of war. It is the fog of misinformation and deception that has always accompanied war.
Who was right and who was wrong?
We will only know when the fog of war has cleared.
