when crabby becomes crotchety

ImageWhy are people called Crabby?
Eiad Kalash “Why do we call a grouchy person “crabby?” Our English word “crab” comes from the Old English “crabba,” itself from a Germanic root meaning “to scratch or claw.” Our modern “crabby,” meaning “cross, irritable, cranky” is fairly recent, dating to the late 18th century.”

What does crotchety mean in slang?
The adjective crotchety describes someone who’s difficult, irritable, and ornery. If you’re crotchety, you complain and argue and are more or less miserable to be around.

dievca did a Wal-Mart run to New Jersey.  she tries to shop early and avoid traffic and crowds.  People watching is always a highlight.  This run offered mostly Hispanic  and Asian patrons.  A good amount of older gentlemen shopping and something new, younger Hispanic couples. A lot of half-awake, kinda grumpy non-morning people.

For the 1st time, dievca made the connection that everyone can be crabby, yet, young people can get away with it while older people just look like a**holes.

There is a turning point where a 23-year-old “Karen” is high maintenance, a 53-year-old “Karen” is a b*tch and an 83-year-old “Karen” needs a nap.

Crabby is crabby at a young age.
Crabby is crotchety and more annoying at an older age.

You can get away with complaining at a young age, but its not a good look at an older age.

Something dievca will keep in mind as she attempts to age gracefully.

A moment with New Jersey

dievca runs to New Jersey every couple of months to hit Wal-Mart for staples (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) Her early morning trip is taking place after a long weekend of work – she survived.

To celebrate her time heading to NJ (and dealing with crazy drivers) plus surviving work, dievca invites you to join her with Jersey Girl, Gloria Gayner (Newark, NJ) in singing a fabulous disco-era anthem.

Good Morning! XO
