Redux
slow awakening
inhaling reality
turning inside out

Best friends
know all the parts of you
are the holders of your broken and healed parts
cherish your being
drop everything to prop you up
talk you through your misery
share their joy intensely
always excited for all the chatting to be had
Close friends
care for your welfare
hug away the fear
delighted in your presence
make the effort to spend time
always just a phone call away
treasure the occasional company
are trustworthy until they are not
Acquaintances
offer condolences
say awww with a forced enthusiasm
talk about you as necessary
wish you the best
don’t remember important things
say hi and bye fairly quickly
frequently disappear from your life
Enemies
smile with the intent of doing damage
set sabotage in motion
talk trash behind your back
mind fuck the real friends
suck the air out of a room
have nothing good to say
lie to get what they want
May you have more than just a single digit number of best friends,
a whole community of close friends, a nominal amount of acquaintances,
and be spared enemies as you travel down your timeline.
Redux
The more we live
the more we hurt
first wound aching
underneath all the others
fresh one opening
creating a new tear
on the multitudes existing
Layers of lessons
waiting for a new danger
scars prickling in response
to a red flag waving
our nerves insisting on caution
our bowels all a jumble
preparing to hesitate
Safety beckons
but life still calls
ripe for a new adventure
pushing the previous pain down
putting flesh-colored bandaids
on the wounds
knowing the risks could be worth it
hoping for pain-free days
Redux
daily momentum
towards authenticity
a foundation of the mastered
moving towards the unlearned
layer upon layer of becoming
vigorous attempts towards wholeness
attainment of enlightenment
my time has come

Inspired by FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION Challenge 5/31/19 – Art
art conveys
what the mouth cannot
visual feelings
are words come to life
the beauty in the image
convey a connection
every chance to look again
is a moment to go back to a memory
This piece was painted by my friend Xaviel. I adore his art! Enjoy all his work!

being in the warmth of the day
wrapped up in nature’s acceptance
there is my ease
stepping into this slice of time
inhaling in the calm
there is my peace
this feeling of being connected
grounded in my thoughts
there is my sanity

anticipating honesty
searching for it in your eyes
show me the good
the ugly
the meh
looking for your soul
needing to know your essence
in your lit up expressions
and the tears you may shed
or in the bored yawn which escapes
leaning into what you offer
questioning
will you match up to my humanity
or disappoint my sensibilities
are you my friend or foe

projection of strength
outer demeanor saves face
chaos deep inside
Redux
The day to day left behind
to follow the excitement in your eyes
teasing me, beckoning me
daring my inhibitions to loosen
Shhh… tell no one
Be a good girl my conscience remarks
the bad girl laughs with a sexy smile
party time, stolen moments of sin
reveling in concealed desires
Shhh… tell no one
Just this once, again
Redux

I bleed emotions
onto a computer screen
and occasionally on paper;
I’m pouring out in pixels and ink.
What do you do for your sanity?
