Friday’s Super Short Stories!

In a crowd of a thousand, your heart can feel lonely, but being the only one sitting by a lake can bring warmth to your heart.

Hiking in nature is exercise for the heart and mind.

The ordinary can become extraordinary depending on one’s perspective!

School Days!

Summer days are here! School is out or almost out and there are happy children and happy teachers! What do you remember about your school days?  Who was your favorite teacher,  or your not so favorite teacher?

I really don’t have one specific teacher that stands out to me as being my favorite, but there were several that I did like. In elementary school my 3rd grade and my 5th grade teacher were the ones I liked the most. They just were so sweet, patient and caring. I still remember though the day that I was so upset, for the first time ever my 3rd grade teacher had yelled at me.

We had went to the Philadelphia Zoo for a field trip. We all had stopped for lunch break in a picnic area of the zoo. I had been done eating and was sleepy as I sat in the shade of a big tree. I leaned up against the tree and before I knew it I was asleep. I don’t believe I was asleep long, but long enough for my whole class to be gone! Yes, there was not a classmate in sight and I was scared! I decided it was up to me to find my class so off I went.

To this day I remember so vividly walking around feeling so lost as foreign languages were being spoken all around me. Finally I heard my name and I turned my head. I knew that person, it was my classmate and behind them was my whole class. I was hugged and also given glares as I was told that they had to miss seeing the elephants because of looking for me! They found me just in time to get on the buses to go home.

It was when we got on the bus to get home that the “yelling” happened.  As a 3rd grader, I am sure it sounded more loud than it really was. My teacher was just wanting to know why I hadn’t stayed where we all had been for lunch. Why had I walked away, for hadn’t I been listening when she told us all that if we got separated from the group, to stay in place and they would come get us.  Oops! I had forgotten that! Or why hadn’t I said anything to one of the workers there about being lost? Well, that question was easy, none of them looked trustworthy enough to me!  I can well imagine now that she had been pretty frantic, and I fully understand her yelling.  As bad as I felt for disappointing her there is another thing that I will always remember. That would be the comfort of her tight hug!

So what is one experience of your school years that will always stay with you?

Now You Know!

He found himself caught in another rain storm. The rain didn’t sour his mood though for he had a special date tonight with Dorindaur.

Drewsilla kept walking through the rain. He was running late, for he had to finish watching the great one and only Incredible Hulkaurus! He loved seeing him turn all green when he was about to show his incredible strength! There was always a special glow around him.

He kept walking and saw the Wise One, Lewsarus,  on the hill. d3dd3939d8674540571a6d6be0271c4a

Perhaps he should stop and visit with him for awhile, surely Dorindaur wouldn’t mind. She did at times question the Wise one’s wisdom, but than again it seemed all the ladies doubted his wisdom. Ever since that one time when he was leading them to a new land and he ended up getting lost.  He had asked Clarkcus for help, but he was no help. They just kept everyone wandering around in circles until finally Sacageraurus , helped guide everyone back home. She was then known to everyone as the wise explorer who helped Lewsaurus and Clarkrus find new land.

Drewsilla figured that a few minutes wouldn’t hurt. He stopped and they chatted, and what was supposed to be just a few minutes turned into an hour! They hadn’t been paying attention to the time, for they were engrossed in conversation and one thing at a time was enough for them to focus on.

Drewsilla picked up his speed, for now he was a little worried about how Dorindaur would react to him at being so late for their special date. At least he had remembered the flowers for her! Oh No! Where were the flowers? He must have put them down when he was talking to the Wise One. Oh ding dang dino rus, he was in trouble for sure!

He started to run even faster and then he saw her and his heart sank. She was waiting for him and she wasn’t looking very happy, not happy at all!

No one saw Drewsilla after that night. The story is told that Dorindaur sent him away for there is no fury like a dinosaur who is kept waiting for her date!

Apparently he went around asking to stay with his friends and they felt sorry for him but their wives wouldn’t let him stay. So all his friends decided to go with him. It was dark and very late, but they figured they would take a long walk and then return home once everyone had cooled down.

Legend has it that they never returned. It is believed that they got themselves lost and could not return home, for they did not have Sacajeweraurus to help them this time.

And now you know the true story of why the dinosaurs are extinct!

What is Your Message?

There were 2 people. One was busy talking and one was busy doing.

They both knew the verse “Love thy neighbor”, and one spoke it from the rooftops, the other one showed it from their heart.

One sat in the pew nodding their head to what the pastor said, and then walked once again by the same homeless guy he walked by every week. Once again the homeless guy said “HI!” and smiled.  Once again he was greeted with cold eyes as the person walked by him by crossing to the other side of the street.

One was busy sharing smiles as they worked in a soup kitchen dishing up a hot meal for the homeless.

One was laughing and talking with their friends, and then spoke snidely as a pregnant teen walked by.

One was in a park and saw a pregnant teen sitting on a bench looking upset. They walked over to them and asked if they could sit down. They sat there and listened to her tears.

A neighborhood party was held to welcome the new neighbors. One brought some beautiful flowers to share with the new couple. One saw the darker skin color and turned around, going back home. Went home to study the Sunday School lesson for the next day.

One was stopped at a light and got hit from behind. The lady was very apologetic, the dent was very small, but the one that got hit was very upset and wasn’t very kind. He was mad as he looked at his “Love thy neighbor” bumper sticker which now was ruined.

One was stopped at a light and got hit from behind. The lady was very apologetic. The dent was very small and the one who had been hit assured the lady that all was fine. The lady smiled through her tears, it had been a horrible day, she had received very bad news and she had been distracted. Her heart was so grateful at the understanding that was shown to her.

There were 2 people. they both were sending out messages to the world with their lives. What message are you sending out?

Friday’s Super Short Stories!

Make the most of your time between the Sunrise and the Sunset of your days!

Conversation with a good friend adds wonderful flavor to any meal!

If had to do over again, what subject would you dread a final exam in? Feeling relieved that school finals are wayyyy behind me!

As a bonus for today, I have included this song. There were several great suggestions yesterday when I asked for songs to go with my post about children growing so fast. Thank you! I knew my readers could think of some, since my brain had been too tired to work at the time. I chose this one only because it was new to me and I thought it might be new to a lot of you as well. It also was the one that choked me up the most, I saw mykids in the pictures and yes the memories rolled down my cheeks. Enjoy!

The Hands of the Clock

6018c14a06f3f3dee69b021940b314f4by Dmitri Annenkov

She walked into the room, pausing at the door, looking at the treasures on the shelf.  The worn teddy bear that her child had carried almost everywhere and cuddled with every night. Remembering how no one got any sleep, if that teddy couldn’t be found. The late night trip back to the supermarket to rescue it when it had accidentally been left behind.  The airplane that flew all over the world when her child was at play. Oh, the many adventures that they had.

There was the toy drum for when her child wanted to strike up the band and lead a parade. Through the house they would march, down the hall and back again. Singing a song, or two or three, and it didn’t matter if it was off key, it was sung loudly with glee!

Wiping her eyes she let the memories roll down her cheeks. Then she spotted the books on the shelf and they brought a smile. Smiled at the memory of the many nights cuddled under a blanket and reading to her child, until her voice would crack. Remembering the thrill she had watching her child fall in love with books,  becoming so engrossed in them, losing all track of time.

She picked up the books and it was like she could hear her child’s voice. So clear it was, it seemed like it had just been yesterday when she heard the words, ” Mommy, please read me one more chapter. I don’t want to go to bed yet. Turn back the clock.”

“Mommy please, I’m still playing with my plane, just one more hour, turn back the clock.”

She spied the apple on the shelf and once again smiled through her tears as her child’s voice rang once more through her ears,  “Mommy, I’m hungry, I need just one more bedtime snack!”

Oh, the memories of yesterday, where did the time go! When did her children grow?

She wants Peter Pan to come and fly them all to Never-Never land. She wants to turn back the clock!

But as much as she wants to turn back the clock, she is excited too. Excited to see what the future holds. A new chapter is being written, and her heart smiles as she hears the ticking of the clock.

The ticking of more memories to be made and more moments to cherish, strike up the band, there still was a lot of marching left to do!

** As the days continue to draw closer to a “empty nest”  I was trying to think of a song that might fit this post. None came to mind, still a little too sleepy. 🙂  If one comes to yours, feel free to share. 🙂 **

Friday’s Super Short Stories!

After 12 years of everyone getting cardio exercise,  the elevator finally starts working!

When out of all the songs you know, the song “Happy Kitty” is going through your mind, “purr, purr, purr.”

When Sheldon speaks from his heart, making all speechless …. and I wipe away some moisture that fell on my cheek.

For 12 years of laughter from welcoming friends into my house every Thursday night, Thank you BBT! Thank you for making me smarter in my knowledge of new scientific words too …. Nope, still as confused as Penny!

5773_500  Had to love Penny, for she was the only one who wasn’t a scientific genius, she made us non-scientific people feel good!

4359_500 Sheldon always knew what to say to make someone feel better!

d5346e21154c7beb12dd0013d394fd4d And Penny had a way of sugarcoating her words!
