Canal Bank Walk
Leafy-with-love banks and the green waters of the canal
Pouring redemption for me, that I do
The will of God, wallow in the habitual, the banal,
Grow with nature again as before I grew.
The bright stick trapped, the breeze adding a third
Party to the couple kissing on an old seat,
And a bird gathering materials for the nest for the Word
Eloquently new and abandoned to its delirious beat.
O unworn world enrapture me, encapture me in a web
Of fabulous grass and eternal voices by a beech,
Feed the gaping need of my senses, give me ad lib
To pray unselfconsciously with overflowing speech
For this soul needs to be honoured with a new dress woven
From green and blue things and arguments that cannot be proven.
Patrick Kavanagh

Taken with the OH’s iPhone as we walked the dogs yesterday.
The greens of the river reminded me of one of my favourite poems and tempted me to take more non black & white photos…
Ciao!

Today Lynn nudged us with the word “Jealousy“.
I’m not on form today, I think!
seeing you with him
   touching him
          kissing him
drives me insane
   you were mine
before you were my
     brother’s wife
“I’m not jealous! She’s welcome to him…” croaked through hot tears as she opened the second bottle…

Today Lynn gave us the nudge “Obsession“.
When I think of obsession, in regard to love or romance, I am drawn to the dark side, (but then again, I live quite a fair share of my life on the dark side, so no surprises there!)
I had fun with this edit though; I wanted to really capture and portray the compulsive, manic nature of obsession. In doing so, I might have stretched Lynn’s rules… sorry Lynn!

I had a second edit which I really like too; a softer version, but I hope it still has a slightly sinister feeling of a woman being watched and perhaps hunted…
(And yes… you can see where I bite my lip in the photo!)
Looking forward to our next nudge!
Ciao!

The über talented Lynn has devised a Valentine’s inspired competition for us writers called Love Nudge.
I’ve decided to have a go with a wee haiku!
Today’s nudge is ‘Attraction’.

So many poems have meanings for me…
I have just spent a lovely 20 minutes sitting on my sofa flicking through some of the poetry books that weigh down the shelves of my bookcase and decided I had to settle on something from Wendy Cope…
It was hard to chose only one, but this poem has always resonated with me, probably because it reminds me of meeting the OH that night on the bridge.

(He buys me all my poetry books… one I bought for myself was “Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis” by Wendy Cope – he didn’t know, so I now have two editions on my shelf!)
Ciao!

My friend sent me this poem the other day and told me that I am a “lifetime person” in her life. It made me very happy to know this.

While I can’t say I think it is very well written, I really like the ideas behind this poem.
It reflects how I feel about the various people who have entered and left my life.
I do believe everyone I encounter comes into my life to teach me something. It is not always an easy lesson; I have allowed people inside to see the real me and have been terribly hurt when they left, but once the pain fades I realise that the experience was valuable.
Everyday is a classroom, every person you meet is a teacher.
Every experience, no matter if it is joyful, painful or upsetting, is an opportunity to grow and develop.
I am happy to tell my friend that she is a “lifetime person” too!
What about you? Do you agree with this poem? Do you have some “lifetime people” in your life?
Ciao!
