One of the many things I’m thankful for today is the technology that makes it possible to befriend kindred spirits wherever they may be in this wide world.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

As 2010 draws to a close, I’d like to take a moment to send out my best wishes to all the fine people I’ve met through blogging. I wish you all the best in the coming year.
I've been blogging and using social media for several years. A while ago, I joined Facebook; I strictly limit my 'friends' on that account to people I actually know in real life: family, friends, and people I deal with professionally.
I've noticed an interesting and somewhat frustrating fact. Not much happens on Facebook. The things I post there fade into lonely obscurity with frightening regularity. I seem to have much more in common with and a lot more interaction with 'online-only' friends (from Vox, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.) than I do on Facebook with the people I know IRL.
I guess this shows that, with a bigger pool to draw from (the world!), it's easier to find and establish a rapport with people who share your interests. People who read books, listen to music, take photographs, appreciate good design and beautiful things, have a sense of humor, and all the rest.
I'm not a feedback whore per se, but sometimes it's nice to know there are people interested in what I have to say. I just have to remember it's not those deadbeats from my life. <wink>
