About the author

Lee Hall has spent many years reading and writing. The fruits of such are his multiple indie published books crossing several genres. From occult thrillers with monsters, witches and vampires which eventually became known as the ‘Order of the Following Series’ to paranormal romance and even the tale of a drunken superhero looking for justice. All of his works carry a deeper meaning that tribute the events from real life, because all good fiction is rooted in some level of truth.
Over the years thousands of readers have downloaded and read Lee’s works which you’ll find being promoted through an active social media presence but he prefers to talk about fellow authors works through reviews.
His story telling efforts have even crossed over to the world of theatre where packed out audiences have enjoyed the fairy tale adaptations he has fashioned into pantomimes – an institution in the UK where he hails from. Even though his performance days are mostly over, he’s still an active member of a local drama group where he actively serves on the committee as resident playwright and writes exclusively for them.
Over the years his writing has drawn influence from Michael Crichton, Stephen King and Arthur Conan Doyle along with the many immersive television shows he’s a fan of from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Stranger Things.
'The hardest thing about being an 'Indie author' is letting the world know your book exists...the best thing is convincing the world one person at a time this your dream…'

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2026Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA cross between an episode of the Twilight Zone spliced together with The Rifleman, THE LAST OUTLAW is a solid story that one might envision being told around a campfire, next to a chuck wagon. Take a classic cult-laden monster invasion and drop it into the Old West-replete with backstabbing, a heist, and a past mystery-and you'll have the gist. Although brief in page count, the author packs in a lot of story, with ample subplots that fully develop the characters and their motivations. When things go berserk, it's believable, with an MC that keeps everything grounded. In the end, mysteries are wrapped up, but there is still, at least, one thing looming in the dark. Great read with vibrant, authentic-sounding dialogue. Check it out!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs far as genres go, westerns are not my thing. Neither is horror. But I am a big fan of author Lee Hall, a tireless and selfless promoter of indie authors everywhere. And for that reason, I bought Last Outlaw awhile back to support him. So I finally got around to read it, and gall darn it, I really enjoyed it!
First of all, let me say it starts off with a rather stereotypical old west storyline, and the dialogue often sounds like it came from an old oater, but that adds to the book’s charm: “…everything is harder when you have a bullet hole in you.” The book is not long; it appears to be a good lead-in to a series. The characters are well-developed accordingly, with a bit of back story for most, but a couple of mystery characters are deliberately kept that way.
The horror angle is likewise mysterious, with the main characters suddenly thrust into a situation that defies their reality. Imagine a mashup of Highlander and High Plains Drifter with some little-described but nonetheless horrifying demonic entities. The story is propelled along from the first page with no wasted prose. Non-stop action, twists, laughs, intrigue and surprises abound in this little novel.
Highly recommended for horror, sword-n-sorcery, and western fans to boot.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2026Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLove this mixed genre offering from indie author Lee Hall. Can an outlaw become a hero? Find out when a small town heist evolves into a western episode straight out of the Twilight Zone!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJohn Arthur is an outlaw, when that life is becoming harder. He along with his adoptive daughter Beth seem to have a great haul dropped in front of them. An easy job with a ton of gold at the end. However there is something deadly wrong, something, well a lot of somethings have attacked the town and now they are just trying to stay alive.
Highly recommended, has the right western feel and the creatures are well done. A fast paced tale with good character work makes it a fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI've read a few of Lee Hall's books already, and love his writing style. The stories he weaves are captivating and action-packed—Last Outlaw is no exception!
I connected with the main characters, John Arthur and Beth, right away and was swept into this gritty Western horror tale. These two genres are a fun combination, and Hall painted such an intricate story that touches on found family, betrayal, and redemption. If you've read any of his The Order of the Following Series (which I recommend), you'll notice some enjoyable tie-ins as well.
The story is character led and, as always, I really enjoyed the dialogue throughout.
It's a quick read read that will keep you guessing until the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe author is surprising readers going to the western horror genre. The main character, John Arthur is planning a bank robbery together with his adopted daughter Bethany. Vivid descriptions and come backs to the past , dinamic plot are reasons to keep readers interested.
Will the main characters stay alive? What can go wrong? Those are questions that will hunt you through the book. An image of Wild West is everywhere in the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWesterns aren’t usually my flavor but there is no doubt how well written Last Outlaw is. For those of you video game lovers, this is a good Red Dead Redemption meets Last of Us. The characters felt authentic and moving. This is a quick book to pick up and read through. Great for a weekend read, especially if you’re into some spooky vibes!

Little HoopoeReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 12, 20245.0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Wild West Tale... with Claws!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWhat starts as an old fashioned Wild West yarn takes a sudden twist at the end of the first chapter, and had me wondering where the story was going. A feeling of tension was built over the following chapters, and the story filled me with a growing sense of trepidation as the hero's ingenious bank heist took a sinister and creepy turn.
The story is narrated by the hero, John Arthur, so we see events unfold through his eyes. This adds a wonderful feeling of immediacy to the adventure, and really gets you emotionally invested in his situation. The plot moves along at a rapid pace as John Arthur's plans descend into demonic terror. The story remains wonderfully unpredictable, and keeps you guessing what'll happen next.
The characters that populate the book are engaging, and I particularly liked John Arthur's young ward, Beth.
Last Outlaw is an original, fast-paced, thrilling, chilling and thoroughly enjoyable adventure which kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm certainly keen to read more books by Lee Hall.
Andrew MorrisReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 15, 20245.0 out of 5 stars The Wild West Just Got Wilder!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseSet during the dying days of the Wild West, Last Outlaw is a fast-paced and inventive Western Horror that wastes no time plunging its reader straight into the action.
This unconventional story, which blends popular genres seamlessly together, tells of a bank heist that turns to terror as supernatural forces come into play. It's an inventive plot that gallops along at a brisk pace, and is full of unexpected turns and shocks.
Told in the first person and the past tense, the story is populated with credible characters brought to life through authentic dialogue. Lee Hall has written his book using tight and succinct prose; there's no waffle, padding, or irrelevance, and not a single word is wasted. He's also woven an atmosphere of foreboding and gathering dread into the tale, as things start to 'go south' for our heroes, which makes it a compelling read.
Last Outlaw delivers excitement, suspense, and plot twists galore. I highly recommend it.

CloselyObservedEnglishReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 6, 20245.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Crossover Read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt's been a while since Lee Hall gave us something new to read, so the announcement of this book - a cowboy-demon crossover - was very welcome news. Lee has always been good at delivering character through dialogue, and that's definitely still the case here. He's also not one to let his characters dawdle with little to do - and you'll find yourself being carried through this book as if it were a movie. If you haven't read any indie writers in a while, I'd recommend giving this one a go!
