The Most Perfect Day

Mom and I went on our usual morning walk and then she went grocery shopping and when she got back she said to me, "Molly, we're going to walk on the Farmington Canal this morning.  It's just too pretty out not to!"
So off we went~~
Image
This is right at the entrance where we begin our walk.   There are some excellent smells here, mom!

Image
And the college campus entrance is right across the street.
Image
Mom is forever searching for pretty flowers to photograph but honestly, there is so much shade on this walk that she doesn't find too many flowers.
That's okay, mom - it's fun anyway!
Image
She did find a Queen Anne's Lace and that made her happy☺

Have a terrific Thursday, everybuddy!

A Thorough Search

First of all, thank you all so very much for your helpful comments and ideas about those evil woodchucks!    Mom has been doing more reading, and she discovered that sprinkling blood meal or dried blood along the perimeter of our fence might work!   It's worth a try, right!

Mom decided that I was going to be the one to do a thorough search of the yard before she unleashed me and before she let Mackie outside to play with me.
JohnLandLord doesn't like a certain tree in the yard and he trims branches and leaves them in a pile.   The woodchucks LOVE this!
Image
I'm checking out this area, mom.    It's getting closer to the raised garden bed.
Image
I didn't see it but mom sure did and it didn't take her long to open up a bag of poo and toss it in the hole!  This hole is on OUR side of the fence!   grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Other than this hole, we didn't see any more evidence and no critters so......................
Image
 Unleash the Terriers, mom!
Image

Image

Image
We know it's blurry but we had to include it so you can see how happy Mackie was to run free in the yard☺   He's been waiting for days!
Image

So that will be the plan for now.   Mom will get the dried blood or blood meal at our local farm supply store and she'll sprinkle it in the area that we see them enter and leave.    And my job will be to check out the perimeter of the yard to make sure that I am the only furry creature within MY fenced in yard!

Back to having fun!

A BIG Problem

We have a big problem.   A few days ago, mom let me out to do my business and I spotted a woodchuck in MY yard and I race after him and chased him out.  Luckily, he had an escape route underneath the fence.
Image
Mom was beyond upset about this and asked the intermuts for help.    She discovered that if Mr Woodchuck is cornered, he can be aggressive and I could be injured.   No way is she going to let this happen so she read up on what she could put in the path of his escape route so he won't want to come back into my yard.  She discovered that they don't like the smell of dog poo so she piled some there and they don't like cayenne pepper so she sprinkled that on top of the poo.
And all has been well until last past Saturday.
Mr Woodchuck had dug a new entrance route into my yard underneath the fence closer to the garden area (which btw, has very few plants in it.)   Mom sowed nasturtium seeds to crawl around and take up space and they germinated and apparently, he's after those.
Image
So now what?  I love my yard and Mackie and I love to play together in my yard but mom will not let either one of us be injured by this PIA creature!
There are a lot of them in my neighborhood.  They live underneath the house next door and Mrs Woodchuck is having little ones! She and her family of three have all been in MY yard happily munching away.
Image
Mom is telling me that I may have to be leased in MY own yard!   There goes all of my fun until winter when they hibernate!   Sure, she can pile more poo at this new entrance.  It's free and we have a lot of it.   But we are thinking that the woodchucks will only dig more holes underneath my fence in a different locations and that's not good.
Image
We have a real problem here and Mackie and I are both sad and mom is totally frustrated and mad!    She has decided to dig up the nasturtiums and toss them and watch to see if the woodchucks lose interest.   Cross your paws and hope that it all works out soon!

Flower Friday

We are joining Arty for his very special Flower Friday.  So many of our beloved friends are making their trips to Rainbow Bridge and we miss them so very much♥

We're heading off to find some flowers~

Image
This catalpa tree is on my street.   We love the huge heart-shaped leaves and the beautiful orchid-like flowers!
Image
This is a closer look at the catalpa flower.  Aren't they just gorgeous!
Image
And we found some Dusty Miller~
Image
On our way home right next to the cleaners on Whitney Avenue is an overgrown spot and it contains some cool wildflowers.   Mom calls this one Dock.  It's also know as Red Sorrel.
Image
This wildflower was also growing in the overgrown spot and we had to go home and look this one up as we had no clue what it was.   We have no idea how that black rectangle got in the picture and it's not part of the flower.   The flower is called Yellow Goat's Beard and that long pod comes after the flower blooms.  The pod opens up and looks like a huge Dandelion when it goes to seed.   You know, the fluff ball that you blow on and make a wish!  The Goldfinches love this plant.  They were all over it but mom wasn't quick enough with the camera to catch them before they took off.   DARN!
Image
Thanks for coming along on my search for flowers!

Mackie is back for the weekend!

Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster

When Miss Natalie sent out her June email and we saw that the Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster was one of the choices that we could review, we got really excited!    Miss Natalie said that you had to be one of the first 25 responders and we were☺
You know how much I love my tennis balls!
Image
I am so psyched!   I can't wait to go outside and give it a whirl!
Image
Did you read the warning, mom?
Never aim directly at peeps, animals or anything that may be injured or damaged by the ball!
Image
And here is another warning, Mackie~
Image
Get your finger off the trigger, mom!  It's for outdoor use ONLY!
Image
So out we go!
Image
 1.2.3.GO!
Image
 Again, mom!
Image
Mom says the best part of this blaster is that you don't have to bend over to pick it up.   You just cover the ball with the end of the blaster and it does the work for you☺
Image
Get it, Mackie!
Image
 Give it up, Mackie!
Image

Image
My turn!   You can either load the blaster with the official nerf ball or you can use your own tennis ball.  It works with both!
Image
Want to see us in action~
Thank you so much for letting us review this superfun tennis ball blaster, Miss Natalie!  We are having so much fun☺

International Box Day

I'm celebrating International Box day today!
Image
As luck would have it, Chewy sent me foodables and there couldn't be a more perfect box to climb inside!
You want me to do what, mom?
Image
You're going to have to offer me TONS of treats to climb inside this box and sit down for awhile!
Image
She tried her very best and there was no way I was stepping into this box and sitting down sooooooooooooo....................................she did it the lunapic way.
Image
Thanks for all the treats, mom, and I didn't even have to work for them *wink wink*

I have pictures of day two  (the last day) of the barn raising~
The rafters are on~
Image
And the roof boards are going on~
Image
Those are Miss Heather's stairs.   It's a 2-piece staircase.   They start at the bottom and go up to a landing, turn and go up to the second floor~
Image

We see you, Jett!  I hope you got a hotdog for lunch!
Image
They're getting there!
Image
They can climb the stairs and put the ladder away☺
Image
End of the day on Sunday and time for the raising feast~
