What noise!

We are in the midst of a provincial election.  Knives are flying low since one party is losing it’s shirt while a second one is losing face.  The third one has nothing much to offer and the only worthy one is too far left to stand a running chance.  It all boils down to wether Quebecers want another referendum (neverendum would Josh Fried say) or not.

Yes and the P.Q. gets in, No and the Liberals come back.  It is an unsavoury choice, but it is the only one we have.  As the English man would say: » What a pity! ».

I guess I’ll pinch my nose and vote L on 7 April .

Of contradictions

Talk about contradictions, Mao would so happy.  Our social democrat péquistes have a star candidate for the upcoming election:  Pierre-Karl Péladeau, a ruthless business man, anti-unions and far right conservative.  A few years ago he decreed a lock out for his typographists and journaists; he kept them on the sidewalk for two years, when they reached an agreement, they had signed on to fire 80 of them.

Even the fiercest union men in the party meakly conceded that they did not agree with his labour management philosophy but thid is not about a work contract « it’s about creating a country » and that trumps everything.

Are you not disgusted?
