Naked as the Maple Tree: Poems that trace life’s arc—beginnings, endings and everything in between. [Print Replica] Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars (28)

Naked as a Maple Tree is a debut poetry collection that celebrates the quiet beauty of everyday life. In 20 tender and evocative poems, Neha Jain transforms ordinary moments into lyrical snapshots — full of memory, longing, and the ache of letting go, all delivered with a hint of humor. These poems call your name from the corners of childhood and offer small gifts of truth gathered from life’s inevitable bruises.

Accompanied by hand-drawn illustrations that reflect the emotional heart of the collection, this book is a keepsake — intimate, honest, and deeply human.

Perfect for anyone who has ever felt too much or laughed through tears —
this is a book to sit with, return to, and gently pour yourself into.

I enjoyed the broad coverage of life and never thought I would we someone with such a beautiful view of the world. So be it. Inspiring.

The adjectives I use in the banner for this review are significant and true, but not inclusive. In addition to these observational responses, I was even more struck by the pure professionalism of the poetry within this powerful collection. The structure is so conscientious and skillfully constructed that one is (mostly) unaware of the profound work that went into its creation. As with any truly accomplished poetry – and all creative work, actually – the reader remains enthralled with the rhythm and emotional evocation experienced while reading (or imbibing). This is poetry at its best, and something quite extraordinary to find these days.

This collection of poems is vulnerable, tender, and depict many moments of both joy and pain by the author. Yet, it is also very relatable (at least to me!) Some of my favorite lines are "a quiet conspiracy of love" and "follow me into the navel of my book" and I loved The Fall: so simple and so true. Thank you for sharing your words!

I enjoyed this book so much. Ever detail is so well crafted. The art work is charming and a delightful experience. Each poem is real life with a genuine voice that each reader can relate to. The narratives cloaked in poetic excellence presents light that dispels darkness. This work is a triumph for both writer and reader.

These days, it’s refreshing to read a collection of poetry that is just that: poetry! As someone else put it, you just know it when you see it, and this is it. I thought this was a beautifully written collection that is just the right length to tease your poetic taste buds. I also loved the creativity of the formatting and the artwork. Well done.

But you know it when you see it. This is good stuff. Not overly sentimental, but full of life and emotion. You'll want to return, again and again.

This book of poetry was very enjoyable to read. Choosing a Profession was one of my favorite poems. I liked the varying subjects and lengths of the poetry. Some rhymed, some didn't. I love the art of storytelling though poetry and this author did a great job at telling stories.

This poetry collection explores different stages of life with a reflective and personal tone. The poems touch on themes of change, memory, and the passage of time. I liked how the writing keeps a simple style that allows the emotions to come through naturally. Some poems feel more introspective than others, but the collection overall invites quiet reflection, which is always the point. A thoughtful read for anyone who enjoys poetry about life’s transitions like me!
