I’m pleased that, on such short notice and in a stunningly short time, Kamala Harris’ stump speech substance, style and optimism have been highly relatable to everyday people. As such, she’s been repeatedly outwitting nitwit Donald J. Trump; demoralizing him with her rising, stellar poll numbers.
Yet, also worthy of mention is this accompanying, nagging feeling of déjà vu.
Indeed, we have been down this campaign trail before (as in eight short years ago) when one could sense candidate Hillary Clinton practically ordering her transition team to ding-dong the White House doorbell; in hopes that some W. Bush servant would grant them early entry to measure the White House floors and windows (ya know, for that post Inauguration Day, decor makeover).
Indeed, Clinton had been misled; lulled into lethargy by her poll numbers. In essence she had been counting her ballots before they were cast.
Now, let’s be damned sure to keep it all real, here.
Be she Hillary or Kamala, it isn’t all that tough to refute / confound Donny’s dystopian, disingenuous, disrespectful (of America) screeds, tantrums, tirades and “Tweets”. I mean, typically, of late, all we’ve been hearing from that ornery cuss has been his depressing, run down drivel. And THAT, if nothing else, can only further emphasize his worsening, daily, cognitive decline.
Egads, just where the hell is the relevancy in insufferable, incompetent, indolent, insolvent Trump droning on and on and on about crowd sizes, rally goers’ early exits, sharks, Hannibal Lecter, his toilet / potty probs, etc.).
Juxtapose whatever THAT is with how, at the end of each day, we, the real people’s concerns (to name just a few) focus upon lowering the cost of living, protecting Social Security / Medicare, securing reproductive freedom, reasserting women’s overall rights / personhood, guaranteeing racial / LGBTQ equality and, last but not least, ensuring the future habitability of our planet.
Do keep in mind that sneaky l’il sh… snot Trump is conveniently hiding his malevolent Project 2025 backed plot to devolve Democracy into Despotism. The blow-back from THAT would wind up eerily similar to a big screen horror flick; where the hell raising, spine chilling, oft monstrous evildoers and/or their confederates and/or their spawn, even in defeat, can be expected to reappear in the inevitable sequels.
My message to my Stateside compatriots, don’t assume that the Kamala Harris / Tim Walz team (as well as all down ballot Democrats) are assured any easy wins.
Certainly Harris is not outta touch with such a truth; she still hath the good sense to categorize herself, indeed, all other Democrats as 2024 campaign underdogs.
So, be we lifelong Democrats OR disgruntled Republicans OR any Liberalism dabblers in between, voter turn out (on or before Tuesday, November 5th) must be so massive that each and every anti-democracy / voter suppression MAGA plot will utterly fail.
