Enter If U Dare

Welcome to a touch of Halloween madness as we prepare for our bewitching day.

Thank you to Marian of Seams

Midnight Madness is a 2017 Row By Row kit. It was created by Cobwebs And Caviar from Shelburne, Ontario and is one of my favorite designs in this years rows. I love the fashionable witch.

Image

Every witch deserves their own home.  Bloggers were gifted with a pattern and my choice was a haunted house. I figured a skeleton doorman was appropriate.

Image

But one haunted house was not enough so I created a village.

I am machine quilting and  using the quilt as you go method. I need to dream up a few more rows to complete the quilt.

My Halloween Smiley turned out eerie looking. A new sewing tote was in order so smiley took on a sewing theme. He might be strange enough so that clerks at the fabric stores refuse to fill the bag with fabric. I can only dream :)

Not my creation but when I visited family they were in the Halloween spirit. Squares of fleece poked into a foam wreath and wound with spooky trim ~~ perfect for using up scraps creatively. Too good not to share.

I hope you do not have to spend time with the Grim Ripper. He comes out every Halloween.

Solar Eclipse August 2017

My tribute to the Solar Eclipse

Thought it would be safer on my eyes to stitch rather than look. Even if most was obscured by an overcast day.

Spring Dreaming

Spring Dreaming

Image

Despite April 1 arriving tomorrow and nature gifting us with more snow I am dreaming of warmer days. And what more perfect way to dream than to complete the March BOM block  from Amy at  SewIncrediblyCrazy

Looking forward to next months block of Sun, Sand and Sea to sunshine and warmer weather.

SPRING AHEAD

SPRING AHEAD

Image

Spring arrived Monday with a definite cold punch.  My car rested under a blanket of snow with little warmth provided by my "quilt-in-training".

Image

As I was digging (sorting sounds much nicer but I was really digging) through my stash I found a very cheerful Jelly Roll; bought a new quilt magazine (which I desperately needed 😉) and a new quilt idea was born.

Image

                                      Image

My neutral print featured snowflakes which seemed appropriate and the pattern was called "Hello, Garden ".  Perfect for spring dreaming or a really mixed up nature.Image

Image

I have been trying to clean, sort and organize my fabrics and sewing stash. I found an extraordinary number of UFO'S and am determined to finish. Some of these only need binding while others are in early stages. My New Years resolution was not to buy any more fabric but I must confess the resolution had been broken many times . And we are only 2 1/2 months into 2017 !!

Image

I want to call this my Happy Quilt because it is so cheerful. I had to buy some stashing today and found the perfect border. I only have a few blocks left to stitch and the top will be done.

Image

The weather forecast predicts that tonight we can expect 15-20 cm of snow, -22 degrees temperature and extremely high winds. Blizzard conditions. A good time to stay in and sew if the power doesn't cut out and if there is any energy left after shoveling.

Might be a good time to have a cuppa tea ready.

EERIE NIGHTS

EERIE NIGHTS

Image

Welcome to Day 6 of a spooky Halloween blog hop. Marian of Seams To Be Sew and Amy of Sew Incredibly Crazy have done a great job of keeping the witches brew stirred with magic potions from so many scary stitchers.  Kitty seems to be checking out the competition for Halloween night. Visit today's witchy stitchers and see their creations. And you might just win an awesome prize of Aurifil thread if you leave a comment.

Check out all the hoppers in Eerie nights at :                             Sew Incredibly Crazy: The Eerie Hop

My first project was black cat place mats. And they did get kitty cat approval for spookiness.

Pumpkins are essential to Halloween and after seeing this cute pattern I knew I needed a table runner. Part of this hop challenge was to show an older project. My witch has survived at least 25 years and has aged well but does need a dye job. The cute hand quilted cushion was a gift from long ago which surfaces every fall. My real pumpkins are less likely to be carved than to be used to create pumpkin jam from a recipe that my mother used when I was a child.

And cats always watch over and are in control of their domain as they stretch lazily on a fall quilt.

This is a UFO which I am sure the ghouls did not want me to finish this week because they took control of my sewing machine time. It is too cute not to share.

Image

So brew some tea and enjoy the other EERIE blog projects.
