Veteran's Day Parade
Today was a doubly special day!
It was a day to celebrate cousin Jonathan's 1st birthday
AND
it was a day to remember the service men and women who have so bravely served our country!
So... when I saw the ad for the Dallas Veteran's Day parade, I knew the kids and I needed to go!

Drew LOVED all the military vehicles!

Free candy= happy kiddos!

This was Drew's favorite type of truck

Cheering for the veterans and the ROTC cadets marching in the parade!

Proudly waving their flags!

Grrr...

Face paint fun!
The fun thing about the Dallas Arboretum are the FREE events they have for kids during their Fall Festival... including face painting!
I had promised Drew we would go and so a few days before the end of the Festival we headed that way...
and returned as a tiger!

Inspecting the artist's work

And then it started to rain... so we took shelter near the pumpkin bin

Aubrey really liked how they were just her size :)

He wanted me to take another picture! Gotta love my little tiger! Grrrr!

Oh, and did I mention that I then went to vote! :) Ha! Nothing like a toddler and tiger in tow!

Sweet treats for good behavior

Back home we dried off

and Aubrey was all ready for some cheese! Silly girl!

Halloween 2010
What's Halloween without a little pumpkin carving?
Well, to be completely honest... we didn't carve our pumpkin until after Halloween! Ha!
But as you can see, Drew's smile and Aubrey's curiosity were worth it, no matter what day we decided to bust out the knives and markers!
Here's our sketch (and me convincing Drew to put his hand in the slimy pumpkin insides... which still didn't work... He wanted NOTHING to do with the slime)

Pulling out the carved mouth

We did it!

Our first pumpkin!

He was so excited!

This year, Trick-or-Treating was fun, but a little different than years past... Clay, Amy, Ryan and Elizabeth are no longer living in Dallas; Dana Lynn, Joey, and their 3 kids moved to a new neighborhood; and we performed a much more thorough search into the character and moral standing of certain sports figures before choosing them as Drew's costume (Yea: Josh Hamilton Boo: Tiger Woods.) That being said, we had a sugar filled blast and the kids thoroughly enjoyed a night out on the town! :)
(Photo session with mommy before heading out the door!)
This pose was all him... proudly dressed as Josh Hamilton, just hours before the Rangers played Game 4 of the World Series ;)

Up to bat

Love him!

Here's our little Fairy!

So sweet

Love it!

Fluttering from one thing to the next, that's our Aubrey!

She was so excited to get all dressed up. The wings were not a battle and the only casualty was the hair bow (which I had hot glued together just hours before... so no big loss!)

Our first stop, MomMom's! :)

That's when we met up with the cousins. Charlie was dressed as Josh Hamilton, too!!! Felice was a baseball bat (she wore all khaki with a Louisville Slugger logo on her shirt!) and Baby Danny was a baseball (Didi made all their costumes, including Danny's full body "bag" made from a white felt circle with red stitching!) :)

Go boys!

Aubrey gets in on the photo action!

And off we went...

This nice man looked like a mannequin when we first started walking towards the front door! Come to find out, he was the father of Clay's kindergarden teacher! HA!

Here are the girls enjoying the sweet reward of their labor...

Next house (and an update on the Ranger's game!)

It was a little different this year, but still so much fun to eat candy with your cousins!!!
