I began playing RPGs (pen & paper) with the basic D&D boxed set back in the late 1970’s. As a teenager, the games seemed like an excellent way for a young, wanna-be writer to exercise some creativity and hone the art of plot and world building. It turned out that I rather enjoyed the interaction between player and GM which ultimately inspired my ongoing interest.
