1Password close-before-update note
For managed 1Password updates, close the desktop application before starting the installer. If the app is left running, the update can fail or leave the install in an untrustworthy state: leaving 1Password open during update can return success while leaving the application in a broken state.. Add a pre-close/check step for the app process in deployment tooling before retrying the update.

Before servicing the desktop client, make sure the running 1Password app is closed. If it is left open during an MSI update, a success return can still leave the client in a broken or partially updated state, so pair the close step with post-update launch/version verification.

For 1Password MSI updates, close the desktop app before starting the update. The updater can return success while leaving the application in a broken state if 1Password remains open, so managed deployments should enforce a pre-close or conflicting-process rule for the app.

For managed 1Password updates, close 1Password before starting the update. If the desktop app is left open, the installer may still return a nominal success code while leaving the application in a broken state, so use a pre-close step and verify launch or file version after the update completes.

For managed 1Password desktop updates, close 1Password before starting the installer. If 1Password remains open, an update can return Exit Code 0 while leaving the desktop app in a broken state; close the app first, then verify launch and installed version after setup completes.
