Cairo is an open-source 2D graphics library providing a vector graphics-based, device-independent API for software developers. It supports multiple output devices including X Window System, Quartz, Win32, PostScript, PDF, and SVG. It uses hardware acceleration when available and is implemented in C with bindings for other languages.
