Data Migration Assistant (DMA) is a Microsoft tool that helps upgrade to modern data platforms by detecting compatibility issues, recommending improvements, and migrating schema and data from SQL Server to newer versions or Azure SQL Database. It supports assessment, compatibility checks, recommendations, and migration with command-line automation. DMA is retiring on July 16, 2025.
