Defang portable ZIP deployment note
For managed Defang CLI deployments on Windows, package the official project release asset as a portable CLI instead of expecting an MSI product code. The Windows archive contains defang.exe; stage it in a managed tools directory and base detection on the staged binary and reported CLI version.
If you replace an older staged copy, remove or overwrite the previous binary before publishing the new one so command aliases do not keep resolving to an outdated path. Source: Defang official GitHub releases.
