Double Commander install-context remediation note
For Double Commander updates, watch for older/manual installs that still show in Add/Remove Programs even after a newer version is present. Some manual installs write uninstall information under HKLM while behaving like a user-context install, so a SYSTEM-context product-code uninstall can return 1605 even though ARP still shows the old entry.
Before deleting or redeploying repeatedly, check the install context and the user profile where the older install was performed. Managed WSUS, ConfigMgr, or Intune deployments generally run as SYSTEM, but remediating a stale manual install may require uninstalling from the original user context or cleaning the stale ARP entry after verifying the current install.
