draw.io Desktop MSI close-before-update note
For managed draw.io Desktop / diagrams.net Desktop updates on Windows, close the running desktop app before launching the MSI update. If the application has files in use, MSI-based deployments can fail with exit code 1 instead of replacing the binaries cleanly.
In Intune, ConfigMgr, or similar software distribution, make the close step explicit: notify the user, defer until draw.io Desktop is closed, or terminate the conflicting process during an approved maintenance window. Use the official jgraph/drawio-desktop releases as the source for desktop installers, and keep detection aligned to the desktop app rather than the web version.
