FactSet Workstation Office-add-in update handling
For managed FactSet Workstation updates, treat Microsoft Office as part of the deployment dependency chain. FactSet integrates with Excel, and silent installation can fail if Excel is running, so close EXCEL.EXE before installing or updating the workstation package.
This is especially important for finance desktops where Excel sessions may stay open all day: use Intune, ConfigMgr, or PSADT user deferral/conflicting-process handling rather than forcing an update while workbooks and add-ins are loaded.

FactSet Workstation silent install and Excel-conflict note
For silent deployment of FactSet Workstation, use the MSI installer with quiet MSI logging and per-machine scope, for example msiexec /i FactSet_Workstation.msi /qn ALLUSERS=1 /l*v "%WINDIR%\Temp\FactSet-Workstation-install.log". If your package uses a transform, keep FactSet-specific folder properties such as FACTSET_PROGRAMDIR and FACTSET_FACTSETDIR in the transform or deployment command so upgrades inherit the same layout.
Close Microsoft Excel before running a required or silent FactSet Workstation install/update. FactSet integrates with Excel, and a silent MSI deployment can fail when Excel is still running, so Intune, ConfigMgr, RMM, or PSADT packages should treat EXCEL.EXE as a conflicting process and prompt/close it before starting the MSI.
