Google Apps Manager (GAM) managed update/configuration note
For managed Google Apps Manager (GAM) deployments, prefer the official GitHub release assets as the source of record. The GAM project publishes Windows archive and installer assets such as gam-7.wx.yz-windows-x86_64.zip and gam-7.wx.yz-windows-x86_64.exe; the archive is often easier to stage reproducibly because it can be extracted into a controlled tools directory and added to PATH by your deployment script.
Keep GAM program updates separate from Google Workspace project and OAuth changes. The GAM update documentation includes gam update project for adding newer API scopes, and notes that headless/server workflows can set no_browser = true in gam.cfg when the browser is on another machine. Do not overwrite an admin’s existing GAM configuration directory during package upgrades; preserve gam.cfg, OAuth files, and service-account JSON unless the change is an intentional reauthorization.
Official source context: GAM documents Windows release assets and installation options in its Downloads/Installs wiki page, update/project behavior in How to Update GAM7, and publishes builds from github.com/GAM-team/GAM/releases/latest.
