Git for Windows close-before-update note
For managed Git for Windows updates, close running Git for Windows processes and shells before launching the installer. The x64 package can fail with 0x80070643 when the application is open during update, so use a pre-close/user-deferral step before the installer runs.

For managed Git for Windows installs, use the official unattended installer switches rather than driving the interactive wizard. A typical quiet command is Git-*-64-bit.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART. If you need consistent component and default-option choices, create an answer file with /SAVEINF=git-options.inf during a reference install and reuse it with /LOADINF=git-options.inf on deployment targets.
