KDiff3 silent install and close-before-update note
KDiff3’s NSIS-based installer supports silent deployment via the /S switch for both 32-bit and 64-bit EXE versions, with /D=TargetPath to specify a custom installation directory, such as KDiff3-64bit-Setup_0.9.98-2.exe /S /D=C:CustomKDiff3. This installs to the designated path without UI prompts, adding entries to the Start Menu and Programs and Features. Uninstall silently using "%ProgramFiles%KDiff3Uninstall.exe" /S post-installation.
Close KDiff3 before applying managed EXE or user-scope updates. If kdiff3.exe remains open, updates can return 0x1; a pre-close step prevents the deployment from failing because a compare window was still active.
