Podman Desktop deployment and close-before-update note
For managed Podman Desktop updates on Windows, close Podman Desktop before starting the installer. If the desktop app is still running, treat installer exit code 2 as an in-use update failure and retry only after the user session or desktop process has been closed.
Use the official Podman Desktop Windows installer source for packaging rather than a generic package-manager shortcut: podman-desktop.io/downloads and the project release feed at github.com/podman-desktop/podman-desktop/releases. After installation, initialize/manage the Podman machine from Podman Desktop or the Podman CLI according to your endpoint policy.
