QGIS Windows silent install and OSGeo4W update note

For scripted deployment of the official QGIS standalone MSI on Windows, use standard MSI flags such as msiexec /i QGIS-OSGeo4W-x.y.z.msi /qn ALLUSERS=1 /norestart /L*v qgis-install.log. Add INSTALLDESKTOPSHORTCUTS=0 when standardized builds should not create desktop shortcuts.

For OSGeo4W-based QGIS installs, package maintenance is handled through the OSGeo4W installer. From the OSGeo4W Shell, setup -q -g runs unattended and upgrades installed packages without opening the interactive installer UI.

QGIS offers both latest feature-rich releases and Long Term Support (LTS) versions for stability. Mac versions require manual approval on first launch due to macOS security.
