QTextPad Visual C++ runtime prerequisite note
For managed QTextPad deployments, stage the Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable for x64 before installing or updating the Windows build. This is most useful on clean images: a failed first launch or update can be a missing VC++ runtime rather than a bad QTextPad package.
Use the project’s official repository as the application source and Microsoft’s supported redistributable page for the runtime: QTextPad on GitHub and latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
Close QTextPad before running managed updates. The Windows EXE package can return Exit Code 5 when QTextPad is open during update, so deployment scripts should stop the app or prompt for closure before invoking the installer.
