Subtitle Edit silent install and close-before-update notes
For Windows enterprise installs, use official Subtitle Edit release assets from the project release page. The current installer asset is named like SubtitleEdit-4.0.15-Setup.exe; run the setup executable elevated with Inno Setup silent switches such as SubtitleEdit-x.y.z-Setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /LOG="%WINDIR%\Temp\SubtitleEdit-Install.log". Use /DIR="C:\Program Files\Subtitle Edit" only when you intentionally need a non-default install path, and use task selections such as /MERGETASKS=!desktopicon,!associate_common when you do not want desktop shortcuts or common file associations.
Before updating existing installs, close Subtitle Edit for all users. If Subtitle Edit is left running during an EXE update, the update can fail with exit code 5; managed deployments should use conflicting-process handling and then validate the installed SubtitleEdit.exe version rather than relying only on the Add/Remove Programs entry.
