XMedia Recode Visual C++ prerequisite note

For managed XMedia Recode deployments, include the Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable prerequisite before launching the installer. This package cue requires the X64 installer, so deployment readiness checks should not mark the app ready with the wrong runtime architecture.

Official source: Microsoft latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.

For managed XMedia Recode updates, close XMedia Recode before running the EXE installer. The update can return Exit Code 1 when the application is open, so use a pre-close/user-deferral step before retrying deployment.

XMedia Recode close-before-update deployment note

Close XMedia Recode before running a managed Windows update. This application-specific cue is useful for Intune, ConfigMgr, RMM, or software-center deployments because the Windows installer can return exit code 1 if the application is left open during the update; treat it as a conflicting process instead of depending on a generic retry.

Keep package sources tied to the official project download page and verify the installed build after update, especially on shared workstations where XMedia Recode may be left open between sessions.

XMediaRecode – Command-line note

Deploy XMedia Recode silently on Windows using the official EXE installer with /VERYSILENT /NORESTART switches for both 32-bit (XMediaRecodeXXXX_setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART) and 64-bit (XMediaRecodeXXXX_x64_setup.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART) architectures to suppress UI and prevent reboots. Add /LOG="%WINDIR%TempXMediaRecode-Install.log" for detailed logging, and customize the path with /DIR="C:CustomPath" for standardized enterprise deployments.

The software includes all necessary encoding libraries and does not require additional codecs. The user interface is functional but somewhat outdated, prioritizing advanced functionality over visual polish.
