Xournal++ close-before-update note
For managed Xournal++ updates, close the running application before launching the installer. Returns Exit Code 0, but the binaries are not updated. Configure a pre-close/user-deferral or conflicting-process rule for Xournal++ rather than repeatedly retrying the update while the app is open.

For managed Xournal++ updates, close Xournal++ before starting setup. The update can return Exit Code 0 while leaving binaries unchanged if the app is open, so close Xournal++ first and verify the executable version afterward.
