Zoom DisplayVersion, MSI deployment, and update note
When comparing Zoom Meeting versions, remember that the version shown on Zoom’s website is not always the same value written as the Windows Add/Remove Programs DisplayVersion. Deployment tools and ARP inventory normally key off the registry DisplayVersion, so apparent website/version mismatches are not always failed updates.
For managed updates, close Zoom before patching. If the client is running during an update, installers can return non-success codes or leave files in a stale state; use your deployment tool’s conflicting-process handling or a Zoom-specific pre-close step rather than relying on a later self-update to clean it up.
For managed Windows installs, Zoom’s mass-deployment guide documents the MSI baseline msiexec /i ZoomInstallerFull.msi /quiet /qn /norestart /log install.log. Use MSI properties or zConfig deliberately for policy choices; Zoom notes that deployed settings are prioritized above user-selected app settings.
Do not build new packages around the older auto-update properties EnableSilentAutoUpdate, AlwaysCheckLatestVersion, ZoomAutoUpdate, or SetUpdatingChannel; Zoom marks those options as no longer supported. For Zoom Meetings detection, do not assume the public download-page version string is the same value Windows reports in Add/Remove Programs. Zoom can publish a website version that differs from the installed registry DisplayVersion, so package titles and detection should be checked against the actual ARP/registry value on a test device.
