7 Months and Counting

Image
Our little One-Tooth-Wonder has turned yet another month old. I think I say this every time I post, but where the heck does time go?! 7 MONTHS ... SERIOUSLY!
You will have to ignore our yucky un-made bed in all of the photos. Since we took our place off the market, Eric has gone a bed-making strike. As the lazy bum got up way after I did (and may I add still does), it was his daily chore (for 1yr & 5months) to make it ... and he complained every day! Well needless to say, he has won this small battle for the time being of not "fully" making the bed (he does not have to put our comforter on and all 12 pillows).
This time next week we will be in sunny Florida, likely eating sand! We can't wait ... we just have to make it thru the holidays. Its going to be a short trip but a ton of fun :) I might even get a tan (NOT)! Who has time to layout in the sun with a 7 month old?!

Santa Clause is Coming to Town!

Image Santa came to town and actually had time to stop by my work on Saturday :) We took Deegan because our picture with Santa at Walmart looked horrible. I think they found 2 people in the back stock room and said to one that had a big belly ... "yes, you will do ... be Santa" and they handed the other person a camera and told them to capture the special moment. HA! That certainly did not happen!
Deegan had no problem with Santa like some of the other kids ... he actually was trying to eat his beard. YUMMM!

ImageI think Deegan is looking at Santa and saying to himself: That is a LOT of facial hair ... my daddy cannot even grow a mustache much less a full, fluffy beard.
ImageLydia, my coworkers daughter who is only a few weeks younger then Deegan, came to see Santa too. Bug just wanted to rip that cute little flower off her head. Talk about an attractive nuisance!!!

Image So we have a pile-o-toys in our living room right now and actually have to buy a storage ottoman to hide them all but the kicker is Deegan is not interested in toys. He likes everything but toys ... you always want what you cannot have (he is baby Tiger Woods)!!!

ImageThis includes Mommy's work badge.

Christmas Pictures!!!

Image
Not much to say except that we have the cutest kid EVER! OMG!

What is my name?

Image Poor Deegan has no idea what his name is: Bug, Loves, Nugget, Deeganater, Handsome ... but usually never Deegan. But the good news is that he does know Mama and can say it! YIPPEE! Sorry daddy, but you should have talked about yourself in 3rd person for months.
We got Bug a sweet new hat and he looks so stinking cute in it ... we just had to share!
Image
ImageImage Now that he is getting teeth (we have 2 so far), he loves to bite the spoon as we feed him. He has been the craziest eater. First, he went on a bottle strike for a couple days ... that was fun because he got dehydrated. The Dr. recommended that we only feed him the bottle and skip the rice cereal and solids. Apparently he got smart and decided that food tasted better then the milk he has been drinking for 6 months! Well, we got him back on track with the bottle and now he is being picky with his food. He has always hated fruit and only when he is starving will he eat it. We try at least once a day to make him eat it but the sour-puss look on his face and the gagging put us off. He loves his yellows: squash, sweet potato's, carrots ... but we do not want him turning yellow! He also likes green beans but hates peas (I think they taste the same, but what do I know). Eric tried the bananas himself the other day and sided with Deegan that they are nasty! I hate banana's too so I believe them both :)

Image This is our new bird-lip face. Bug sucks his lower lip in and will just sit there. It is pretty funny! Please ignore his outfit ... daddy picked it out and he looks like white trash (in his defense, he was warm on the cold day).

6 Months!

Image 6 MONTHS ... HALF A YEAR ... IS HE STILL A BABY?!!! Well even when he is 40 he will still be our baby but we cannot get over the fact it has been half a year. This little bug is the light of our life and definitely #1 to us both. I jokingly tell Eric that I would take a bullet for him but if I had to chose between him or Deegan ... sorry but I wasn't picking him :) Luckily he said ditto!

Image Blowing Raspberries!

Image As you have seen in previous videos, we have started to feed Deegan big boy food. We have moved onto solids and he is not the typical baby. The kid HATES (I mean gets the shivers) Applesauce, Prunes, Pears, etc but totally loves green beans and sweet peas. How Bizarre!!! Here is a picture of our pea face ... YUM!

Image We had Deegan's 6 month check-up and he is shrinking. He is now 28" inches (75%) and 15.4 lbs (15%). Tall and skinny ... Eric thinks I cheated on him! HA! But overall, he is a healthy little man.

SOOOO BIG!

Image It is hard to believe how quickly Deegan is growing! Just a couple weeks ago, he had trouble balancing to sit up on his own, last week, he could sit for about 10 seconds, then lose his balance, Today he sat up until he got bored and then dove for a toy!
ImageSuch a big boy, posing and smiling for Mommy!

ImageWe decided to give up the Bumbo and be a REAL big boy in our high chair. He is a MUCH cleaner eater using the high chair, good idea Momma!

ImageLove that flavored rice cereal, so much so that he can easily down 4 tablespoons like nothing!

Happy HALLOWEEN

Image For Deegan's first Halloween we went to Grandma Donna's for a Halloween Party. Of couse we had to dress Bug up as a Bug and Eric and I were "Bug Patrol." We had tool belts that had diapers, pacifiers, chew toys, wipes, etc ... All things needed to take care of a Bug problem :)
The funny part was Deegan went to bed before most of the guest arrived and everyone kept asking us about our costumes as they didn't make sense!

Image We have been working on sitting up by ourselves and he does a great job ... He does have face plants here and there but he never cries.

Image Though CSU is having a rough season, we are still proud to wear our green and gold! Proud to be a CSU RAM!

The Deeganator!

Daddy here again... Since I am tech support for the blog (Uploading, Downloading, Editing and video conversions, etc) I figured it is just easier for me to do a few video posts!

Lately at Daycare (Bugs spends most of his day surrounded by little girls at daycare) the girls have been calling him the "Deeganator". We thought it was just a funny and cute little nickname, but what we have now determined is that the "Deeganator" will more than likely be his B-Boy Breakdancing alter-ego! ENJOY!

The Bug Bug Bug, The Bug is the Word!

Ok People, Daddy has broke in to the blogosphere, so look out... we have started using the video camera a whole lot more now that 'Bug' is growing so fast and seems to be doing new things each day! Here are a few videos that will hopefully brighten your day.

This video is of Deegan after his 4 month check-up. Our pediatrician recommended he start eating 'Rice Cereal'. So we went and bought single grain rice cereal and mixed it with breast milk and, well, have a look for yourself...

Ok, So as you can see by the outcome of the video above, we needed a different course of action. Deegan got H1N1 Flu shortly after that video, so we stopped the plain rice cereal routine while he was sick. We knew that we had to work on getting him to learn to eat 'big boy food' so I figured we will spend a few extra $'s and try 'flavored rice cereal'... Low and behold, the next video...

A little advice to those that are going to or recently had a child, start with the flavored stuff... It will make life MUCH easier!!!

Love Drunk

Image It's official, for 5 months now Eric and I have been love drunk and have not yet had a hangover. It is amazing to see how much our little love bug has grown. He is definitely no long a "lump on the log"! He is talking (Deegan talk that is), rolling, smiling, laughing, reaching, grabbing and stuffing everything he can into is mouth (a lot like mommy these days)! He is also starting to look a lot like his handsome daddy ... better then looking like his mommy (we are manly - not girly). We are also finally starting to get a routine which is good and bad. Deegan has never been happier and we seem to know what he wants and when based on the clock. The only problem is that the clock is like a ball and chain. Between nap times, feedings and an early bed time, there is not a lot of time to do anything! Oh the sacrifices we make ... TOTALLY worth it :)

Image We had tried rice cereal some time ago and it did not go well at all! Deegan would cry, spit it out and get royally mad at us. So, being the softy's that we are, we gave up ... until yesterday. Round 2 went well the first 2 bites and then didn't go at all. When we tried feeding him the cereal a few weeks ago we were convinced it was the spoon he hated: well now we are convinced he likes the spoon, hates the cereal. After 2 bites, he sealed his lips shut and would not let anything pass (smart kid).

Image But that spoon was pretty tasty ... until we gagged ourselves!

Image Grandma Gail got Deegan a new hat and a new toy to roll around in. He is so stinking cute!!!

Image Russell Stover's next sales man

ImageOn Friday night we went to a wedding (Tara's sisters) and had a fun time. They had a cupcake cake and Eric asked 20 times when he could have one. I was about to shove one in his face if he asked again! Once they did start passing them out he ended up eating 3! Of course Tara is still tanner then me ... someday I will be tan again!

Image Eric and I at the wedding ... without Deegan!

ImageOn Saturday we went to a Birthday/Halloween party and got to dress Bug up as a .... BUG! We were pretty excited to be able to dress him up 2 times since he isn't going to make it up late on Halloween. Of course we had to cut the feet out of the costume because of his huge feet but it worked. I like to say he is a love bug for Halloween (manly or not)!

Giggles!

Deegan is his happiest in the mornings, which makes it very easy or us to wake up, even if he wakes us up early on a weekend. We found out he is also very ticklish on his tummy... Enjoy!

ImageMost of you know that Deegan had H1N1 Swine Flu last week. Having a sick child is terrible, fortunately for us we took him to the Doctor within 8 hours of him showing symptoms, and our Pediatrician had the 'quick' test to confirm it. The GOOD NEWS here is that he is absolutely back to his normal self. He is happy, smiling, playing, etc. He has been without a fever for over a week and his runny nose stopped about 6 days ago too.

ImageThank you ALL so much for the thoughts and prayers while he was sick, they truly helped him and us get over this.Image
