Garlan and I finally got away for our anniversary. We spent 8 glorious days in Cancun at an all inclusive resort at Moon Palace. It was glorious!
Tuesday April 6th
We arrived in Cancun around 1pm. Getting through the airport was quick and easy. Our resort is only 15 minutes from the airport so I’ve were there and checked in by 2:30. While waiting for our guest service explanation we had drinks and yummy ham and cheese crepes. We were take. To our room which has a beautiful view of gardens and water features. We have a ginormous soaking tub in our room and many other nice amenities like robes and slippers. We got our bathing suits on and headed out to explore the pool and the beach. Got our first virgin pina coladas and were not disappointed.
After relaxing by the pool for several hours we got dressed and decided to go to the Mexican Buffet. Very delicious fajitas and tacos! Since we had been up super early for our flight we crashed by 9pm.
Wednesday
We both slept in and then I went for a long run around the property trails and then to the gym. G got us spots for the day. There are several pools, bars, outside food and restaurants and inside food. We used tons of sunscreen but still got a little red. Good thing I packed aspirin and aloe! For dinner we tried the Italian restaurant and it was only so-so. We laid out by the pool and FaceTimed the girls. Funny how we are so excited to get away but then miss them the minute we leave.
Thursday
Today we took a day trip to Tulum. We left around 8am and got back at 2:30. The ruin were cool but not very big. We saw and even fed iguanas and walked along the magnificent coast line.
After we got back we went to the pool to enjoy the cool water after being hot and sweaty. For dinner we went back to the Mexican restaurant and stuffed ourselves. Also had at least a dozen virgin drinks today!
Friday
Today was amazing. We slept in and I went running. We lounged at the pool till about 2:30. Then we headed to the Spa at the golf course for over 4 hours of pampering. We checked in 90 min early to enjoy what they call the hydrotherapy room. They have an attendant take you to the sauna, steam room, cold plunge, jacuzzi, foot soak and then you relax and they gave us a scalp massage. All the while they spray different aromas and give her creams for your face. It was amazing. Because we booked our stay through members we got a free 25 min massage, manicure and pedicure. Garlan dropped the mani pedi and upgraded for a longer massage. So relaxing and wonderful!!! I don’t need to be super rich but if I was I’d would do that regularly.
For dinner we tried the Asian restaurant Momo and loved it. Soooooo good!
Garlan also got pooped on by a bird. Hilarious
Saturday
Another really fun day. We took our second excursion to swim with dolphins! It was so fun. They are such beautiful animals. We even got to go for a ride through the water holding o ton their fins. Of course we only could talk about much our girls would love it.
The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed more pool time and a nap. For dinner we went back to Momo for more sushi. Most nights we are too tired to stay up late and go dance or watch the shows. It is really nice just not to have to do bedtime routine.
Sunday
Today we slept In and read and listened to conference talks. At noon we took the shuttle to the Sun Palace 10 min north in the hotel zone. It is a sister resort that is adults only. A lot smaller but had several infinity pools and was quiet. The ocean is very blue in this area so that was nice. G found lots of seashells and conches to take home to the girls. I ended up walking 4 miles round trip to a grocery store to buy vanilla. For dinner we went to the Indian restaurant Agra. It was yummy but we both ate too much.
Yummy Indian Food for dinner
Monday
Our last full day in paradise. We miss the girls but I don’t really want to go back to real life yet. We lounged at the pool and ate lots of food and drank lots of smoothies. Trying to soak it all in! You can tel spring break is over. It almost seems dead compared to the crowd last week. Kind of nice. Tonight we went back to Momo for dinner.
Tuesday
We are just landing in salt lake. We got to sleep in and spend half the day at the resort before leaving at 1 pm for the airport. We made it through all the crazy security and covid tests and questions. The flight was smooth and we are grateful both ways it was nonstop. This was a wonderful trip. A time to really reconnect and enjoy each other and time away.
