June

June brought birthdays and more visitors and more adventures.

First up was Dexter's 5th birthday.  My baby is 5!!! AHHHH!
To celebrate, we did a star wars birthday theme and he chose an R2D2 cake.  I think it turned out well.  At the last minute, he decided he also wanted to do dinosaurs and he put most of his dinosaur collection on the edges.  He also chose to forgo a friend party and go camping.  We learned that we aren't equipped to go camping in the great North West.  We got rained out.  We tried really hard to make it work, but it just didn't.  We set up the tent in between rain breaks but finished in a down pour.  We at lunch and played around in the tent.  Then we went and explored.  We found lots of slugs, Ashton taught the kiddos how to skip rocks, we picked up litter, and noticed that everybody had eating tents as well.  It just kept raining and we couldn't put chairs up to sit down in because they would be out in the rain and we don't have an eating cover, and being 7 months pregnant, sitting on the ground for that much, just wasn't working for me.  We packed up and left and camped in the house.  We pulled the kids mattress off their bed and put it in the front room, cooked our camping food and watched a movie.  It was still fun.

Juliette's hair get curly when it's wet. Cute, huh....

The next week, we were supposed to go to Idaho for my 10 year class reunion.  I was in charge and had it all planned out, location reserved, but only 3 people could come.  Ya, not happening.  I was supposed to go and leave the kids with my parents so I could get 12 observation hours for one of my classes done.  Well, I had a melt down about that too.  I couldn't leave them.  So my parents decided to come here instead.  They were going to drive the kids back but decided they could come earlier and watch the kids while I was doing my observations.

We had fun.  I did 9 out of the 12 hours while they were here but I also managed to have some fun time with them.

I took them across the Megler Bridge.  My mom freaked out and covered her head the whole time we were going across.  Once over into Washington State, we went to Long Beach and to the kite museum.  My dad loves kites.  I get my love of kites from him.  We played around trying to make some different shapes with kites and learned all about different kites from all over the world.

They even had a kite making station and the kids each made a kite.

Yep, selfie in the bathroom.  I hadn't taken one yet and thought since I had the camera with me, I'd taken advantage of that.

Then we went out to the beach.  This is where the kite festivel is held as well.  Dad has this cool parrot kite and he hasn't ever gotten up and he brought to try at the beach.  Well, it was a success!

We also made our way to Peter Iredale.  I took a beach belly shot...

AFter everyone had gone, I was studying for a test night and needed out of the house.  We headed to Peter Iredale for some stress relief.  Dex flew his dragon kite and Juliette tried to build a sand castle, but found that smashing them was a little more fun.
