H'lo. I'm Ailly.

I am...
...mostly a lurker, fannish, geeky, way too invested in Pete Wentz, fascinated by Audrey Kitching, an unrepentant feminist, sometimes an angry dyke, very much a theater kid, no longer a teenager, a stage manager, a reader, a seamstress, a registered nurse, a skater with Dominion Derby Girls, politically aware, engaged, a work in progress, pretty damn liberal, ridiculous about my dogs, in love with India, tired of being angry, learning to cook, eager to get another tattoo, awake and unafraid...

I'm a little embarrassed that my only posts these days are Dear Authors but oh well.

My tumblr, once again, is most frequently updated. Pretty much anything you see on there is what I'm into at the moment, feel free to use/not use any fandoms/characters you see there.

A little more specifics about my requests. )

As before, AUs and crossovers are amazing, angst and fluff are equally adored, I am pretty diverse in the things I like! All of the above was just to give you ideas, I am sure I will love whatever you write!

I know, an empty journal is probably not what you'd like to see for an exchange. But that's just because I am like queen of the lurkers on here. The best idea of what I'm into at any given moment is my Tumblr (fetchmeagiraffe), and also my slowly growing bookmarks (AO3 for recent, Delicious for my ridiculous tagging system).

Basically, I love all the ladies in those fandoms I requested. AUs and crossovers are amazing, angst and fluff are equal in my heart, and I am sooo super excited to see whatever it is that you create!

-ailly.

How am I supposed to choose between Amy Pond, Donna Noble, Martha Jones, Rory Williams, and River Song for my favorite Doctor Who character? HOW?!

Ugh I guess I'll just go with Ace instead. No chance she'll win, though.

[ETA]: Fifty characters for Who-verse and Farscape doesn't even have Jool, Sikozu, or Noranti? Seriously? *grumble* (not that I would grumble over on the actual page, because I know it's a huge project, yada yadda)[/ETA]

. . . if your main character is a businessman and a recent college grad and spent several thousand dollars on a full back tattoo and it is only text and wings? And the text is from a song? Then my suspension of disbelief has snapped, and also I am going to abuse italics apparantly.

Rather than finish my paper last night, I re-read all of Written by the Victors, and that lasted me until 3am. It left me with some seriously wacked out dreams, and I'm writing my paper in class, but it was totally worth it.

My hands-down favorite part, in a fic chock-full of awesomeness, is right near the end, and therefore very spoilery )

But really, the whole thing is amazeballs, and makes me miss their stupid faces.

Watching SGA season 4 while writing a paper for English. I'd seen up to "Reunion" before, and then lost track of it. So now I get to experience the joy of Season "Wait I've Read That AU!" for the first time!

First off we had "Doppelganger," which is the Inception AU. I haven't actually read this one, but I am confident it is out there somewhere. (Bonus slashy points for the Sheppard/McKay look across gurneys at the end, and bonus emo points for "Sheppard thinks McKay is dead" in the middle.)

Then "Travelers," which is two AUs for the price of one: female!Sheppard, and Sheppard is kidnapped and re-takes a ship all by himself (Reinventing the Wheel and Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves).

Up next is "Tabula Rasa," where we've got the amnesia (Unidentified) plague (I know I've read a plague one, I just can't find it).

Oh look! "Missing" gives us a Teyla/Keller camping trip (of doooom)! (Never Bend With The Rainfall, this one's cheating but it's a rarepair.)

Anyway, I now have a billion tabs open from trying to find that one goddamn plague fic, and it's been four hours and my paper still isn't done. SGA, what do you do to me.

So it turns out, nursing school is HARD. Anatomy & Physiology I in 5 weeks, when I have little science background and zero medical background? SUPER HARD. Doing all that while still working on the weekends? *dead*

Consider this an indefinite hiatus notice. My only free time is spent watching Better Off Ted (Ladyfriend informs me that Rose is essentially our daughter. And she takes after me. <3) and reading Morganville Vampire novels on a friend's Nook.

(Speaking of, where is all the awesome fic about the vampires? They were all awesome, powerful, vicious people when alive, and there must have been some pretty epic power plays over the centuries. Crossovers! It's not that much of a stretch to have Myrnin=Merlin in some format. Amelie meeting the Doctor and freaking out Rory and Amy! River Song and Eve, time-traveling BAMFs. If I had spare time to write, I'd be on it like necrotizing fasciitis.)

I leave you with a song that is getting me through right now:

aka: JFK's assasination as portrayed by Lynz Ballato-Way and her husband (dallas)
Reading ALL THE MERLIN FIC on AO3. LOLing at how 50% of summaries could easily fit into a Harlequin novel. Avoiding just about everything else that is not school. /o\

Like many theme parks, this past weekend began the Halloween operating season at work. Hopefully that means I will get to see Ladyfriend more often than when she's already asleep at night, and also the murderous urges towards my coworkers will decrease.

In a hilarious (to me) collision of fannish life and work life, a coworker has declared the three (male) percussionists in the show adjacent to my show, who take on gravedigger/vampire hunter/bone collector type roles, to be Duncan MacLeod, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer, and Buffy Summers. Also, that whole show tells the true origin story of Stephanie Meyer, and the three percussionists are trying to stop her from being born and then writing Twilight. The plotbunnies running around in my head since then are cackling wildly.

This was the same coworker who keeps trying to pimp me back into Supernatural. Last week I told him "I'll bet you maybe spoilery? still not watching this show! ) Stay classy, Supernatural.

I have Thoughts on The House Bunny, which Ladyfriend and I re-watched last night. (The quotes page is missing a few great ones - "uh oh, somebody went accident in her sexy pants!") Mostly it boils down to: pretty funny, especially when you have a lot of sorority friends (or watch it with said friends); it's really nice to see a teen comedy that has zero fights over guys; that doesn't excuse its issues with the "freaks" in the minor characters; Emma Stone is darling when she is being a dork.

But all the Thoughts I had have now been overwritten by Thoughts on the Morganville Vampire novels, which M. has been letting me read via her nook at work. I am tearing through them, too - just started the third one. spoilers for Glass Houses and Dead Girls' Dance )

I just spent three hours totally ignoring "Pillars of the Earth" and "30 Rock" on my TV in order to devour sex is not the enemy and Dorothy Surrenders. Not even all of either one, but oh my god. I am just wallowing in the HOT and the lez and the gay and the hot and the feminist and the funny and did I mention the hot? I might need to start observing Tank Top Tuesday and/or Genderfuck Friday.

In honor of both blogs, have a little Maddow Monday (re: that article - YES CLARK KENT OMG THAT IS KIND OF PERFECT).

cut for politeness, although I think really everyone should have more Dr Maddow on their network pages )

Re-watching season 1 of SGA, and man! This show sucked! In a fun, slashy way, but still. Also, I hadn't really realized how much Crimes Against Humanity was less than a total AU and more like two steps sideways from canon. some flailing, some failing, a lot of bad acting )

Okay, that's all I have the energy to talk about today. Even as I'm finding things to enjoy, in a popcorn-movie kinda way, there's so much more that just makes me GRR face at the TV.

"Once the ad ends, you will be returned to your LiveJournal experience."

HAAAAATE. This is why I spend all my time on DW.

I think it's Hyperbole and a Half that discusses the Email Avoidance Disease, where when your inbox reaches a certain number of emails awaiting reply, you just run whimpering in the opposite direction whenever you get a new email, and so that one reply that will only take 30 seconds goes from being 2 days late to being 2 weeks late? Because somehow in your mind, that person has forgotten about wanting a reply, and if you reply so late you're only reminding them of your own personal failure?

Yeah. That's where I'm at right now. /o\ There's no reason for it! There are no bad emails in my inbox, only good emails from lovely people! And my school, but w/e. So I am trying to claw my way out of this hole, starting with Ashes stuff. *determined face*

In other news, Ladyfriend and I are watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and are going to have to dress up our dog Pookie as Appa for Halloween. The two of us are going as Amy and Eleven (we have two other geeky friend-couples who are being Rose and Nine and Martha and Ten), and our other dog is probably going to be some kind of food, but dudes. Pookie is SO Appa, only the size of a small poodle. It's adorable.

I am also digging on the show's recurring themes of ladies being awesome, blind ladies being awesome, ladies who wear dresses and makeup being awesome, and teenagers being failboats. spoilerish through Day of Black Sun, but pretty vague )

Huh. I guess I had more thoughts than I realized.

Inception reaction and ramblings )

So, yeah. Now I am off to find all the Inception macros, ever, because making fun of Leo's squinty face? Is AWESOME.

Work was nuts today, and only part of it was that we couldn't shoot fireworks off during a thunderstorm. But now I has cuddly puppies, and an adult beverage, and Netflix on my Wii. I am debating Sarah Connor Chronicles versus Avatar: The Last Airbender (with an option of a VMars rewatch).

There is a story percolating in my head about Cameron, and how the robots who are reprogrammed eventually turn bad, and how evil in a pretty delicate body is much more scary than evil in a big brawny body (influenced not at all by recently watching "Let The Right One In" I'm sure), but I'm still not sure where it's going. Also, the S2 credit narration is SO MUCH MORE ANNOYING than S1! Although I do appreciate how John is still only valuable in the future tense, and is a delicate princess who needs three white knights protecting him for now. Also, LOL:

John: How does this affect the safety of John Connor?
Cameron: It doesn't. But next summer we're going to have to repaint.

Heh.

I also have Caramel Pumpkin Spice bars, which are tasty and delicious but probably not a very good supper.

Aaaand judging by the way this post has jumped about, I think the tasty adult beverage is already going to my head, so I am going to close the computer and veg out until I fall asleep.

Red Hood - DELIGHTFUL. Mostly. )

Veronica Mars, up to mid-Season 3 )

Okay at this point I have had about three or four malibu and cokes, and not nearly enough chocolate cake, so I am going to stop typing before I completely lose track of what I'm trying to say.
aka: Amy Pond looking confused from a Doctor Who episode (confused)
Today in class I had an argument with a guy who was supposed to be giving a presentation on the chemical aspects of herbal cleansers, and was instead basically giving us a sales pitch. My real sticking point is that "all natural" is a totally bogus advertising phrase that does not actually mean anything, which he refused to admit. You can put together ANYTHING and label it all natural. It's not like organic foods, which require very specific preparations in order to be labelled as organic. GRR.

In happier news, I'm watching Veronica Mars for the first time. Every time Alona Tal guest stars, I start doing internal seal claps. She is the most adorable! And she and Kristen Bell have amazing chemistry together. OH HAI SURPRISE ALYSON HANNIGAN! <3

Now, let's appreciate Rory Williams/Arthur Darvill!

In that vein, have a Rory-centric drabble, with spoilers through the end of season 5. on memories )

just got home from work. have to be back in 7 hours. UGH MY LIFE. working a third day concert tomorrow.

in the process of acquiring doctor who, desperately skimming my circle and flist with one eye closed in order to avoid even emotional response spoilers. i am not this person! eleven amy and rory, what are you doing to meeeee?

started watching leverage s1 in the time i should have been studying for chem. seen through "the horror movie job" or whatevs, where they go to serbia ("hagen-dasz!"). my thoughts:

1 - ALL THE HARDISON/ELIOT IN THE WORLD. GIMME GIMME GIMME. it's nerd/jock! how can you not love and cradle and snark!
2 - "age of the geek, baby." when hardison blows up the factory after switching out the guns? HAWT.
3 - parker may not be terribly femme, but she and sophie have a standing date night (weekly or monthly) in which they get some omnoms and talk through their greatest hits and bitch about how eliot needs to get over himself and make hardison an honest man. :D
4 - what's the main guy's name again? whatever, he's ok.
5 - parker needs a robin. hardison is already her oracle. (gps in her *shoe*)

now: shower, trek, bed.
