I was going to try out for the show So You Think You Can Dance, but I missed the tryouts that were here so I thought I would give you a taste of what everyone else is missing.

Remodel time
The old red, white, & blue kitchen is gone. It's updated with new dark red paint, & some yellow. I'm using the Longaberger basket pictures on one wall, got a new clock and plaid curtains in both the kitchen and dining room. There are still a few changes to make & then maybe we'll think about new counters & floor. Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm driving Dad crazy with doing so much, but he says it looks nice.

Carson Valley Days
Fun after the parade: Grandpa giving rides to the G-kids.
See the new boat that Dad "bought"...doesn't he wish.:) The parade was pretty good this year, longer than most. Weather cooperated, just a little overcast & not too sunny. Got lots of candy as usual. Came home to a sloppy jo & watermelon lunch. Now it's time to take a nap.

Family visits and a ferris wheel
Since the last post we've had a few visitors. Lisa's family popped in coming and going from San Francisco and we enjoyed seeing them. The twins are growing so fast. Then Scott's family came and helped us with a lot of "To Dos" both inside and outside the house. You don't know until it happens (empty nest syndrome), how much help the kids can be even when they're under foot all day, so enjoy the busy moments even though they just drive you crazy. :) We took Scott, Brenda, Nate, Matt & Zach up to Lake Tahoe to play mini-golf...yes, the place is still there and it was fun. Brenda & Sandy tied for first place. They spent some time at El Dorado beach so they could at least say they had stuck their toes in the cold water at Tahoe. We had lunch at the Tahoe Keys Marina outside at a restaurant right on the water. Dad got "baptised"...the waitress spilled a huge glass of water all over him. It was her first day, and she was so nervous. Yesterday we met Mark & Katy's family at Scheels in Sparks. Dad took Kendra on a ferris wheel (it's right in the middle of the store), we watched a scuba diver feed the fish in one of the overhead tanks, played games and got a little presidential history lesson. The place is huge. We stayed for a few hours, had lunch, then went to dinner at one of our favorite places...Olive Garden. While there we were entertained by a loud thunderstorm with rain and lightning. Dad is going to be sooo tired today. I couldn't get him to slow down. He's just like the ever-ready bunny...keeps going and going.

Sorority
Did any of you know that I was in a sorority when I went to the University of Nevada? I pledged Delta Delta Delta (TriDelta) when I was a Sophomore in 1959. I was just honored at a luncheon along with about 20 other ladies to commemorate that we have been members for 50 years! O boy do I feel old. We received the "Golden Circle Award" for hanging in there that long. As they reviewed the symbols and goals I was very surprised to see how closely they follow along with a lot of the Young Women & Relief Society mottos that we have at church.
