With these tough economic times there's nothing better than more tips for saving money. Please join us as we share ideas and learn more about being frugal, thrifty and how to use food storage.

  • Rebecca Fisher will show us how we can save money by cutting hair at home as well as some other money saving beauty tips.
  • Erin Collins will demonstrate how to make a rice/bean dish and show us how to use the beans we all have on hand in our food storage. No more confusion on how to prepare or soak those food storage beans!
Erin will also share with us a yummy recipe for whole wheat apple rolls. I can't wait to sample those. :)

Announcements from Sunday, January 17

I've recently had several requests to go back to a weekly newsletter, so I am going to give it a try :-)
An attempt at keeping everyone informed about what is going on. Most of this is taken directly from the announcements that were give in RS on Sunday, but there have been a few minor changes (see especially the announcement re: the Linger Longer).

And one other VT'ing note from me.
Sister Jean Eide printed out a record for me of this past year's visiting teaching results. Sister Eide does a very good job of keeping records! First, thank you to all you faithful visiting teachers that serve your sisters each month. Sister Julie Beck, General RS President was recently interviewed for the Church News re: visiting teaching. In the article, Sister Beck said, "the purpose of the inspired program is to minister, watch over and strengthen Latter-day Saint sisters. "Visiting teaching is one of the best ways we can fulfill our lifelong responsibilities to increase our faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes and seek out and help those in need," "In reality," she said," visiting teaching is never finished. It is more a way of life than a task."

If you are having a problem with your visiting teaching, please let me know. Sister Beck mentioned that you don't get to choose your route and you don't get to choose your companion, but that it is okay, because you can pray to learn to love your companion and those you visit teach. But if you are having problems and cannot get your visiting teaching done, again, please let me know. Don't wait for your visiting teaching interview to report a problem or to discuss your concerns with me.

*Tuesday, Jan. 19- RS Meeting-
With the new year we can all start fresh and strive to do better. Come join us as we learn from each other:

Siciley Kirk will speak to us about setting goals. In order to get anywhere, you need to know where you want to go. You need a road map. Setting goals is your road map!

Morgan Hood will speak with us about the importance ofkeeping a journal. “Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully.” President Spencer W. Kimball

Kristina Eide will speak with us about the benefits of daily prayer. Daily prayer is like sunshine to our souls.

Bring your favorite healthy snack to share!

Nursery provided.
