As far as intentions go, this blog will summarise a collection of programming projects in finance using R, a free software environment for statistical computing and visualisiations. It compiles and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS and is extensively used both in industry and academia (ranging from data exploration by Google Inc, insurance calculations by Loyds Bank to academic applications in finance , economics and bio-statistics). By no possible stretch of the imagination, will I claim proficiency in the R-language but I do try to keep things simple for the sake of exposition. Time permitting, I plan to provide a collection of posts associated with Time series analysis as I plough through and learn the concepts my self.
