I bought this skirt to complete a Mizore from Rosario Vampire cosplay. (The original skirt that came with it was cute but way too short for my height - pictured here is the Urban Coco yellow series.) Shopping for something specific on a budget is rough...but then I found this Urban Coco skirt!

Based on previous experiences with online shopping for bottoms, I was a bit skeptical. However, this skirt style had a ton of reviews and most were positive. (The search by height or weight options made it easier to find the info I needed for it.) So I decided to take the plunge and ordered it!

Here are my experiences with it.

PERSONAL STATS - I am about 5'8" and currently weigh in at the 190s.

SKIRT CHOICE - Yellow series, size XXL

COLOR - it looks yellow and black in photos, but is actually yellow and NAVY. If you are trying to match something to black, this may not work for you.

FIT - I am a curvy gal with a pear shaped body type. I typically avoid pleated skirts for that reason, but found this one to be surprisingly flattering to my body type! The waist is SUPER comfortable because of the stretch band, which I LOVE! If my weight goes up or down a bit (still working on getting it down), I'm pretty confident that this will still fit me.

LENGTH - This is where the description does not match up. Supposedly, this is a "knee-length" skirt. Not even close, but maybe I'm taller than they expected when they wrote the size chart. The ONLY way it reaches my knees is when I pull the waistband UNDER my belly button. When I wear it at a comfortable waist position, it still comes above the knees in front (and a bit higher in the back thanks to my booty). However, it STILL covers everything to my modest desires in this position! (No fan-service moments from this cosplayer.) Due to personal preferences, I will probably wear beige/nude leggings underneath to be safe, but most people are probably more comfortable in skirts in public than I am.

SLIP UNDERLAYER - This part had me a little nervous based on other reviews. Let me start by saying DON'T TUG ON IT. It seems delicate and I dont want to rip it out by pulling on it instead of the skirt. Yes, it does seem to make the skirt fit a bit snugger inside, which is part of why I like it. Also serves as another, closer layer for modesty, which I personally enjoy because loose skirts flipping about make me nervous. I dont want my skirt to pull a Marilyn Monroe in the street with a strong wind (but maybe that's just me).

SIZING - Because I'm very hippy (size 14-16 in womens mostly, or 17-19 in juniors) I chose the biggest possible option. Now, at walmart for example, I usually get women's XL in bottoms sized this way. However, I looked at the size chart and decided that the XXL was probably for me. I am SUPER HAPPY with that decision! The skirt fits me perfectly, not too tight, and a comfortable length for me. That being said, everyone has different comfort levels. Best suggestion is to look at the size chart and then compare that to reviews sorted by weight categories (which is what I did).

OTHER CONCERNS - I don't know how it holds up in the wash, haven't tried that yet. Material is nice to the touch, not rough or bumpy. Beautiful and seems very well made! Pleats may have some bumps from packaging, but I'm not concerned about that for myself.

OVERALL - I totally recommend the Urban Coco elastic waist skirt! When I have more room in the closet, I plan to buy at least one or two more colors for date night. This style has always scared me off, but this one makes me feel sexy and confident!

I ordered this hoping for ok quality, as it seemed kind of costume-y based on the price. Once I opened the package, I found a really well-made, beautiful product. I have always loved the look of pleated skirts, but so far have never owned one.

I got the series 5 green, XXL. I am 6'3 inches and 220 lb. I was just praying this little skirt would fit me, because it was so beautiful. I always wear skirts at my hips, and was really not sure my 40 inch hips would fit in this. Lo and behold, I found that it has an elastic waistband!

Perfect drape, and the length was just above the knee. I am absolutely in LOVE with this skirt! So comfortable, I couldn't stop wearing it around the house after trying it on. It has a wonderful weight to it that hangs beautifully, thanks to the soft black lining inside.

I paired it with a pair of white lace top thigh highs (B000GIQIZM) , and white lace garter belt (B007SLC80Y) . I was unable to find a white cotton button-up short sleeve shirt on Amazon, mostly due to my 48 inch bust and confusing Asian sizing. I ended up buying a 'Kate' shirt (size 22W) from Roamans which fits wonderfully to complete my naughty schoolgirl look. I found an awesome pair of Oxford pumps to top off the look. (B0018LO05Q)

Overall, I found this is an amazing skirt, at an amazing price. Beautiful pattern and colors, beautiful fit, beautiful drape and flow. I love it so much!

*UPDATE*

This is STILL my favorite skirt over a year later! I now own 6 of them, soon to be seven. They are still soft and soooooo comfy. Even after several washings, the pleats still held their shape decently well. I'm sure they would be much better if I ever ironed them, but I think we both know THAT'S not gonna happen! They went up a bit in price since I bought them, but still a bargain!

*UPDATED UPDATE*

I now own 10 of these Skirts, and had to invest in stackable skirt hangers (B07414VN1B) just to fit them all in my closet! I am so very happy with these Skirts, they make me feel so sexy when I wear them. The only patterns I haven't bought yet is the solid color ones, but why buy those when I could get more of the different plaid patterns? :-P

One of my twin girls loves skirts and these are one of her favorites. She is 14, hair almost to her knees, 5'0 tall, thick with curves. Muscular thick with flat belly. We are always looking for something that covers her buttocks properly. Teaching her self respect is important in today's world. This vendor is a keeper for us.

We love the elastic waistband! It gives good stretch and she doesn't have to worry about suffocating after lunch. It looks decent and proper while standing sideways. We all know that with plenty of junk in the trunk, skirts tend to lift up high in the back! 💯

The material is thick, the quality seems good. She tried it on with thick and thin leggings. 👌She also tried it with sherpa lining tights/leggings and they fit well too. There's no zipper!!!! 🥳 Not see through at all and ok for cold days here in New England! It's a skirt of course you will still feel it during winter months!

She can dress up or down with this and still look kawaii cute and or like a Valkery warrior!

I've ordered 3 total for her and 1 for myself. Mine have yet to come in so I can't rate that. If it was a little less pricey, I'd purchase all of them. 😍🤭😁

FYI. One thing we love most is the length!!! It is perfect for her. It's still a little bit above her knees, kind of fluffy and definitely appropriate for her age & size. Not seeking attention nor trying to draw attention. She feels very safe, confident and comfortable. Please make more colors, I will return for more.

*If you have OCD and stare at the stitchings you will hate it. Some will say it's not worth the price due to the sloppiness of that. If you can look pass that part, you're good.

One of the skirt (white,purple, pink) arrived unprofessional so I had to send it back for a replacement. The threads were not in tact and coming apart in different areas around the skirt.

It fit perfectly (5'1" 113lbs) and the pattern looks cute. It almost hit my knees, and is the perfect length.

Good quality skirt. Very aesthetically pleasing both in fabric, pattern and fit. I'm a bit on the shorter side 5'2 ,5'3 and I prefer to hike my skirts to my waist so I can still show a little thigh with high-knee or over the knee socks. While its very cute and goes well with my closet I do have a bit of an issue. First of all the waist part often scrunches up a bit however due to the stretchability of this product and accommodation to my size, this isn't a huge issue but its good to know. Secondly, the color was not as expected, I thought i had been purchasing a red and black plaid skirt and as the occasionally goth, having good black outfits is v important to me when it comes to outfit versatility. Overall I'm happy with the product and has made way for many complements and judgemental looks from 47 year old women at the grocery store.

The Urban CoCo tartan pleated skirt is cute and stylish, especially if you’re going for a classic school-inspired look. The pleats are flattering, and the elastic waistband makes it easy to pull on and comfortable at first.

That said, the material is thinner than I expected, and the quality feels just okay for the price. The elastic waistband can also feel a bit tight depending on your size, so sizing up might be a good idea. After a few washes, the pleats don’t hold their shape as well unless you take extra care.

Overall, it’s a decent skirt for casual wear or costume purposes, but don’t expect premium fabric or long-term durability. Cute, but with some noticeable drawbacks.

I bought this skirt in solid black. I am 5'9" and weigh 180 pounds. I got the XXL and it fits great. I probably could've done XL, there is a lot of stretch in the waistband but the XXL doesn't fit big or anything. I'm a paralegal so I need to look professional at work. I expected this to be possibly a weekend skirt. BUT this skirt is so great, I wore it to work today! You have flexibility in this skirt. Change what kind of shirt you wear and it could be something you wear to the club, work, or even just to dinner. It goes to just about 2 inches above the top of my knee, so it's not slutty. But, I could pull it up, higher on my waist if I wanted it to be! There is also a very thin, attached slip, so in case of a windy day, the skirt may blow up but the slip would not.

Shipping was fast, the quality is great. It did arrive folded up in a plastic package so ironing wasn't fun, but that's about the only negative.

If you like what you see in the pictures, I recommend this skirt highly. It's exactly what you'd expect. Even for a tall person. :)

This is my second purchase in black colour. I have another one in green which looks very pretty. I wish they had a little longer skirt too for offices. I love the quality and fitting. Fabric is thick which I like. Fits perfectly.
