Paella Night

Image
So I've pretty much given up on uploading pictures and videos to this blog, as the last two batches wouldn't load. Tahiti is beautiful, Shadow is anchored, and I've already gone on one scuba dive. Recently a few of the bigger yachts left for Fiji, so there's been two different goodbye parties which have been fun. Tonight, my new friend Elodie, a local French Tahitian, is going to take me out to her favorite spots in downtown Papeete. Other than that, I've been taking it easy and hanging out at the Pink Coconut Cafe using their free internet. There's not a lot of the island that is available to explore, and there's only one road that goes around the island. But as a result the bus system is very simple...

I love the cruising community! The Pacific Puddle Jump group has a few members here and it's fun to hear everyone's stories. I've never experienced such kindness and generosity. If there's anyone out there considering crossing the Pacific (mom and dad), DO IT!!

We got to Tahiti yesterday afternoon, dropped anchor around 3. It's beautiful and it feels great to be back on land.

Off to Tahiti

Well guys, this looks like it might be my last post for a while. Mike's finishing up the rigging today, and we should leave tomorrow morning for Tahiti. I spent the day on last minute grocery shopping (still can't find any cinnamon poptarts!), calling friends and family to say goodbye for now. No big plans for our last night in the marina, maybe going to hang out with Rebecca and Rochelle for a few drinks. Last night we had a glorious chicken dinner with our friends from Walk On, Mike and Larissa, followed by Life Aquatic movie night (to which I promptly fell asleep). It's hard to believe we've been here for 30 days, and now all of the sudden it's time to go. Thank you Hawaii for being so good to us, and thank you new friends for all the fun times and memories, I know we'll stay in touch. Au revoir readers, I'll post again in four weeks!

Mike's Parents

Here's a few snapshots of Mike's folks. While the guys were putting on chain plates, Vicki worked on sewing up an awning and I went provisioning. These pictures were taken at our favorite hangout, the Harbor Pub where we grabbed some grinds and a pitcher of sammy. So excited to be getting ready to go!

New Chain Plates

Hooray for new chain plates!! Mike's parents came into town for the weekend to help with the installation, and the boys were able to get it done in TWO DAYS. We're all very excited for this project to be nearing completion, as well as being excited with how good shadow looks.
