5 Years!

Image

Drum roll please!...Danny and I hit our 5 years of marriage mark on March 19th. I can honestly and confidently say that I love him more now than I ever have, which I didn’t think was possible when I was a infatuated 16 year old. We have not been without our fair share of trials these past five years, but making it through them together has only made us stronger. We are continually learning more about each other and our relationship and striving to have the kind of marriage we have both dreamed of. He is my best friend, my support, an incredible father to my girls, and the man I want to spend the rest of eternity with!

My Peanut Pie!

Jane…oh, what can I say about my Jane?? She is one incredible little girl! From her personality, vocabulary, spunk, and spirit, I have never seen anything quite like her. She keeps us on our toes, and keeps us laughing constantly. We are continually amazed by her communication skills. We can carry on a conversation with her just as if she was an adult, not a 2 ½ year old little girl. She is also wise beyond her years and is constantly teaching me life lessons! We were walking through Target the other day and she leaned over the handle on the cart and gave my arm a big squeeze, grabbed my hand, and said, “Mom, you are my best friend!” My heart soared! I couldn't agree with her more. We are best pals! I am so grateful for her! I wish I could savor every moment of this delectable age!

1 Month Old

My little Nut-Meg turns 1 month old tomorrow...my heart is breaking that it has gone so fast. I can already tell that she is saying good-bye to the precious newborn stage. Her body is plumping up so deliciously, her eyes are focusing in on objects and faces more, she seems to "own" her hands more, and she shows recognition of loving attention by flaring her little nostrils and curling her sweet little lips. All wonderful milestones, but proof of how quickly time goes by.

For some time, she seemed to be a clone of my Jane. They looked similar, and as newborns, they eat, sleep, and poop. There has not been a lot of things to distinguish them until now. Meg is finally becoming Meg. The way she is becoming a little "butter-ball" is different than my Jane. She is already outgrowing some of the clothes that Jane wore for months. She is developing the sweetest little rolls on her upper thighs and perfect little round cheeks. I am sure many people say this about their newborns, but she has such a sweet spirit about her. She is almost always in a state of contentment and very rarely cries. Time may prove otherwise, but she already seems very easy to please. I am enjoying her immensely! She is a perfect little angel!

Binky Fairy!

The time has come to say goodbye to the binky! Yesterday, before Jane's naps, I explained to her that when a girl becomes a "big girl," it is time to give the Binky Fairy a present. The Binky Fairy loves binkys because she takes them to new babies who are sad and don't have any binky's. We walked around the house and gathered up all of her binkys into a gift bag and left it for the Fairy. I couldn't believe how well she handled it. She kept saying that "my is a big girl!" and said "bye-bye" to each of her binkys. When she woke up from her nap, the Binky Fairy had taken her binkys, but had left her a present (a new baby doll that does all sorts of tricky stuff with her binky). Here is her reaction...

As you can see, she was pretty excited!

I was worried how the night time was going to go, so I prepped her a few times before bedtime that she wouldn't have her binky but that she could sleep with her new Baby Chelsea (yes, she named it!). When the time came, we said prayers, read a book, and sang a song, and she never mentioned her binky. Early in the morning she woke up and called out for Danny. When he went to her, she asked for her binky but Danny reminded her that the Binky Fairy took it. She said, "my is a big girl. Fairy gave me a baby in a box!" and went right back to sleep! I couldn't believe it! I thought it would be SOOOOO much harder than that! What a good girl she is!

Brother or Sister?

ImageThis pregnancy has been quite a bit different from my first. I haven't been nearly as sick, haven't had a pregnancy tumor, haven't bled, haven't had high blood pressure, etc. Naturally Danny and I, (as well as everyone else) started assuming that we were going to have a boy. However, Jane was relentless at telling us that it was going to be a "girl," or a "sister." Come to find out at our ultra sound....SHE WAS RIGHT! We are having another GIRL!

We couldn't be happier! We are thrilled to have another sweet girl in our family. I am happy that Jane will have a little friend...eventually. We have the stuff, we have the knowledge, and we have a perfect little girl already....how could we not be thrilled?!?

Halloween 2009!

We kept it pretty simple for Halloween this year. Not a lot of festivities going on at our house other than the annual Trunk-or-Treat at the Stake Center. Jane was in awe of all of the different costumes and even more enamored by all of the "TREATS!" We are still eating them days later...Mmmmmm Yum! In fact, it is 8:30 am and she had a chocolate with her bowl of cereal. Yes, I am a good mom!
